Kings IV 3

1 And Joram the son of Achaab began to reign in Israel in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda, and he reigned twelve years.

१यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट याच्या कारकिर्दीच्या अठराव्या वर्षी, अहाबाचा मुलगा योराम शोमरोनात इस्राएलावर राज्य करू लागला; त्याने बारा वर्षे राज्य केले.

2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his father, nor as his mother: and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father had made.

२यहोरामाने परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने दुष्ट अशी कृत्ये केली, पण आपल्या आई-वडिलांसारखे त्याने केले नाही; त्याने त्याच्या वडिलांनी बआलमूर्तीच्या पूजेसाठी केलेला स्तंभ काढून टाकला.

3 Only he adhered to the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.

३असे असले तरी नबाटचा मुलगा यराबाम ज्याने इस्राएलास पाप करायला लावले, त्याच्या पापास तो चिकटून राहिला. ती त्याने सोडली नाहीत.

4 And Mosa king of Moab was a sheep-master, and he rendered to the king of Israel in the beginning [of the year], a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

४आता मवाबाचा राजा मेशा कळपांचा धनी होता. तो इस्राएलाच्या राजाला एक लक्ष मेंढया आणि एक लक्ष एडके लोकरींसूद्धा देत असे.

5 And it came to pass, after the death of Achaab, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

५पण अहाबाच्या मूत्यूनंतर, मवाबाच्या राजाने इस्राएलाच्या राजाविरूद्ध बंड केले.

6 And king Joram went forth in that day out of Samaria, and numbered Israel.

६त्या वेळेस राजा योराम शोमरोन मधून बाहेर पडला आणि त्याने सर्व इस्राएल लोकांस एकत्र केले.

7 And he went and sent to Josaphat king of Juda, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to war? And he said, I will go up: you are as I, I am as you; as my people, so [is] your people, as my horses, so [are] your horses.

७यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट याच्याकडे त्याने असा निरोप पाठवला की, “मवाबाच्या राजाने माझ्याविरुध्द बंड केले आहे. तू माझ्याबरोबर मवाबाविरूद्ध लढाईला येशील काय?” यहोशाफाटाने सांगितले, “होय, मी जरुर येईन, जसा तू तसा मी, जसे तुझे लोक तसे माझे लोक, जसे तुझे घोडे तसे माझे घोडे.”

8 And he said, What way shall I go up? and he said, The way of the wilderness of Edom.

८नंतर तो बोलला “कोणत्या वाटेने हल्ला करायला जायचे?” यावर, “अदोमच्या वाळवंटाच्या दिशेने” असे यहोशाफाट ने सांगितले.

9 And the king of Israel went, and the king of Juda, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey; and there was no water for the army, and for the cattle that went with them.

९मग इस्राएलचा राजा, यहूदा आणि अदोमाच्या राजाबरोबर चालत सात दिवसाच्या वाटेचा फेरा केल्यावर, तिथे त्यांच्या सैन्याला, घोड्यांना, तसेच त्यांच्याबरोबरची जनावरे याकरिता पाणी सापडले नाही.

10 And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord should have called the three kings on their way, to give them into the hand of Moab.

१०तेव्हा इस्राएलाचा राजा यहोराम म्हणाला, “हे काय आहे? मवाबांच्या हातून पराभव पत्करावा म्हणून परमेश्वराने आम्हा तीन राजांना एकत्र आणले काय?”

11 And Josaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, [There is] here Elisaie son of Saphat, who poured water on the hands of Eliu.

११परंतू यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “ज्याच्याकडून आपण परमेश्वराचा सल्ला घ्यावा असा येथे परमेश्वराचा एखादा संदेष्टा नाही काय?” तेव्हा इस्राएलाच्या राजाच्या एका सेवकाने उत्तर दिले, “शाफाटाचा मुलगा अलीशा इथेच आहे, जो एलीयाच्या हातावर पाणी घालत असे.”

12 And Josaphat said, He has the word of the Lord. And the king of Israel, and Josaphat king of Juda, and the king of Edom, went down to him.

१२यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “परमेश्वराचे वचन त्याच्या सोबत आहे.” तेव्हा इस्राएलाचा राजा व यहोशाफाट आणि अदोमचा राजा खाली त्याच्याकडे गेले.

13 And Elisaie said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? go to the prophets of your father, and the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, Has the Lord called the three kings to deliver them into the hands of Moab?

१३अलीशा इस्राएलाच्या राजाला म्हणाला, “तुझे माझे काय आहे? तू आपल्या वडिलांच्या किंवा आईच्या संदेष्ट्यांकडे जा.” तेव्हा इस्राएलाच्या राजा अलीशाला म्हणाला, “नाही, कारण परमेश्वराने आम्हा तीन राजांना एकत्र आणले, ह्यासाठी की मवाबाकडून आम्ही पराभूत व्हावे.”

14 And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord of hosts before whom I stand lives, unless I regarded the presence of Josaphat the king of Juda, I would not have looked on you, nor seen you.

१४अलीशा म्हणाला, “ज्या परमेश्वराच्या सान्निध्यात मी उभा राहतो, तो सैन्याचा परमेश्वर जिवंत आहे. जर यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट ह्याच्या उपस्थितीचा मी आदर केला नसता, तर खरोखर मी तुझी दखल घेतली नसती व तुझ्याकडे पाहिलेही नसते.

15 And now fetch me a harper. And it came to pass, as the harper harped, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.

१५तेव्हा आता एखादा वीणावादक माझ्याकडे आणा.” आणि असे झाले की वीणावादक वाजवत असता, परमेश्वराचा हात अलीशावर आला.

16 And he said, Thus says the Lord, Make this valley full of trenches.

१६मग अलीशा म्हणाला, “परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो: या कोरड्या नदीच्या खोऱ्यात जागोजागी खणून ठेवा.

17 For thus says the Lord, You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain, yet this valley shall be filled with water, and you, and your flocks, and your cattle shall drink.

१७कारण परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, तुम्हास वारा, पाऊस काही दिसणार नाही पण तरीही हे खोरे पाण्याने भरुन जाईल, आणि तुम्ही प्याल, तुम्ही व तुमच्या जनावरांनाही पाणी मिळेल.

18 And this [is] a light [thing] in the eyes of the Lord: I will also deliver Moab into your hand.

१८कारण हे तर परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने सोपे आहे. तो तुम्हास मवाबांवरही विजय मिळवून देईल.

19 And you shall strike every strong city, and you shall cut down every good tree, and you shall stop all wells of water, and spoil every good piece [of land] with stones.

१९प्रत्येक तटबंदीच्या व चांगल्या बंदोबस्त असलेल्या अशा निवडक नगरांवर तुम्ही हल्ला कराल. प्रत्येक चांगला वृक्ष तुम्ही तोडून टाकाल, पाण्याचे झरे, विहिरी बुजवून टाकाल. दगडफेक करून चांगल्या शेतांची नासाडी कराल.”

20 And it came to pass in the morning, when the sacrifice was offered, that, behold! waters came from the way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.

२०मग सकाळी, अर्पणाच्या वेळी, अदोमाच्या बाजूने पाण्याचा लोंढा आला आणि देश पाण्याने भरला.

21 And all Moab heard that the three kings were come up to fight against them; and they cried out on every [side, even] all that were girded with a girdle, and they said, Ho! and stood upon the border.

२१राजे आपल्यावर हल्ला करायला आले आहेत हे मवाबाच्या लोकांनी ऐकले तेव्हा, त्यांनी आपल्याकडच्या युध्दात उतरता येण्याजोग्या सर्व पुरुषांना एकत्र केले. युध्दासाठी सज्ज होऊन ते सीमेवर जाऊन थांबले.

22 And they rose early in the morning, and the sun rose upon the waters, and Moab saw the waters on the opposite side red as blood.

२२ते लोक त्या दिवशी भल्या पहाटे उठले तेव्हा उगवत्या सूर्याची लाली पाण्यात प्रतिबिंबित होती. मवाबी लोकांस त्यांच्या विरूद्ध दिशेला असलेले पाणी दिसले असता, ते त्यांना रक्तासारखे लाल दिसले.

23 And they said, This [is] the blood of the sword; and the kings have fought, and each man has struck his neighbour; now then to the spoils, Moab.

२३ते म्हणाले, “हे रक्त आहे! या राजांची नक्कीच आपापसात लढाई झालेली दिसते, त्यांनी परस्परांना मारले! तर आता मवाब्यांनो त्यांना लुटायला चला.”

24 And they entered into the camp of Israel; and Israel arose and struck Moab, and they fled from before them; and they went on and struck Moab as they went.

२४मवाबी लोक इस्राएलांच्या छावणीपाशी आले असता, इस्राएल लोकांनी बाहेर येऊन मवाबी सैन्यावर हल्ला केला. तेव्हा मवाबी लोक पळत सुटले व इस्राएल लोक त्यांच्या प्रदेशातही त्यांना मारत गेले.

25 And they razed the cities, and cast every man his stone on every good piece [of land] and filled it; and they stopped every well, and cut down every good tree, until they left [only] the stones of the wall cast down; and the slingers compassed [the land], and struck it.

२५इस्राएल लोकांनी त्यांची नगरे उध्वस्त केली, त्यांच्या प्रत्येक शेतांत दगडांचा मारा करून ते बुजवले. त्यांनी पाण्याच्या सर्व विहिरी बुजवल्या व सर्व चांगली झाडे तोडून टाकली केली. फक्त कीर-हरेसमधे त्यांनी त्यांचे दगड राहू दिले. पण गोफण चालवणाऱ्या सैन्यांनी त्या नगरावर हल्ला केला.

26 And the king of Moab saw that the battle prevailed against him; and he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to cut through to the king of Edom: and they could not.

२६या लढाईला तोंड देणे आपल्याला जड जात आहे हे मवाबाचा राजा मेशाने जाणले. तेव्हा त्याने तलवारधारी सातशे निवडक माणसे बरोबर घेतली आणि वेढा फोडून अदोमाच्या राजाला तो मारायला निघाला पण त्यास ते जमले नाही.

27 And he took his oldest son whom he had designed to reign in his stead, and offered him up for a whole burnt offering on the walls. And there was a great indignation against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their land.

२७मग मवाबाच्या राजाने आपल्या थोरल्या मुलाला बरोबर घेतले, जो त्यानंतर त्याच्या गादीवर बसणार होता. नगराच्या तटबंदीच्या भिंतीवर या राजाने आपल्या मोठ्या मुलाचा यज्ञात बली दिला. तेव्हा इस्राएलवर मोठा कोप झाला. मग ते मवाबाचा राजा मेशा याला सोडून आपल्या देशात परत आले.
