Kings IV 14
1 In the second year of Joas the son of Joachaz king of Israel, did Amessias also the son of Joas the king of Juda begin to reign.
Pada tahun kedua pemerintahan Yoas anak Yoahas atas Israel, Amazia anak Yoas menjadi raja Yehuda.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Joadim of Jerusalem.
Pada waktu itu ia berumur dua puluh lima tahun, dan ia memerintah di Yerusalem dua puluh sembilan tahun lamanya. Ibunya ialah Yoadan dari Yerusalem.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not as David his father: he did according to all things that his father Joas did.
Amazia melakukan yang menyenangkan hati TUHAN, tetapi ia tidak seperti Daud, leluhurnya. Seperti ayahnya,
4 Only he removed not the high places: as yet the people sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.
ia pun tidak meruntuhkan tempat-tempat penyembahan dewa, sehingga rakyat terus saja mempersembahkan kurban dan membakar dupa di sana.
5 And it came to pass when the kingdom was established in his hand, that he killed his servants that had slain the king his father.
Segera setelah kuat kedudukannya, Amazia menghukum mati pegawai-pegawai yang membunuh ayahnya.
6 But he killed not the sons of those that had slain him; according as it is written in the book of the laws of Moses, as the Lord gave commandment, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, and the children shall not be put to death for the fathers; but every one shall die for his own sins.
Tetapi anak-anak pegawai-pegawai itu tidak dibunuhnya, karena ia menuruti perintah TUHAN dalam Buku Musa yang berbunyi, "Jangan menghukum mati orang tua karena kejahatan yang dilakukan oleh anak-anak mereka, dan jangan menghukum mati anak-anak karena kejahatan yang dilakukan oleh orang tua mereka. Setiap orang hanya boleh dihukum mati karena kejahatan yang dilakukannya sendiri."
7 He struck of Edom ten thousand in the valley of salt, and took the Rock in the war, and called its name Jethoel until this day.
Dalam suatu pertempuran, Amazia membunuh 10.000 prajurit Edom di Lembah Asin, dan merebut kota Sela. Kota itu dinamakannya Yokteel. Sampai sekarang kota itu masih bernama Yokteel.
8 Then Amessias sent messengers to Joas son of Joachaz son of Ju king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
Kemudian Amazia mengirim utusan kepada Yoas raja Israel untuk menantang dia berperang.
9 And Joas the king of Israel sent to Amessias king of Juda, saying, The thistle that was in Libanus sent to the cedar that was in Libanus, saying, Give my daughter to your son to wife: and the wild beasts of the field that were in Libanus passed by and trod down the thistle.
Tetapi Raja Yoas mengirim jawaban ini, "Suatu waktu semak berduri di Pegunungan Libanon mengirim berita ini kepada pohon cemara, 'Hai pohon cemara, berikanlah anak gadismu kepada anakku untuk menjadi istrinya.' Tetapi kemudian lewatlah di situ seekor binatang hutan yang menginjak-injak semak berduri itu.
10 You have struck and wounded Edom, and your heart has lifted you up: stay at home and glorify yourself; for therefore are you quarrelsome to your hurt? So [both] you will fall and Juda with you.
Engkau, Amazia, telah menjadi sombong, karena engkau telah mengalahkan orang Edom. Nah, bukankah kemenangan itu sudah cukup? Sebaiknya kautinggal saja di rumah! Untuk apa mencari-cari persoalan yang hanya akan mencelakakan dirimu dan rakyatmu?"
11 Nevertheless Amessias listened not: so Joas king of Israel went up, and he and Amessias king of Juda looked one another in the face in Baethsamys of Juda.
Tetapi Amazia raja Yehuda tidak menghiraukan kata-kata Yoas raja Israel. Karena itu, Raja Yoas dengan anak buahnya berangkat ke Bet-Semes di Yehuda dan berperang dengan Amazia di sana.
12 And Juda was overthrown before Israel, and [every] man fled to his tent.
Tentara Yehuda dikalahkan dan semua prajuritnya lari pulang ke rumahnya masing-masing.
13 And Joas king of Israel took Amessias the son of Joas the son of Ochozias, in Baethsamys; and he came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, [beginning] at the gate of Ephraim as far as the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits.
Yoas menangkap Amazia, lalu pergi ke Yerusalem dan meruntuhkan tembok kota itu sepanjang kurang lebih dua ratus meter, mulai dari Pintu Gerbang Efraim sampai ke Pintu Gerbang Sudut.
14 And he took the gold, and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king's house, and the hostages, and returned to Samaria.
Semua emas dan perak serta semua perkakas yang ditemukannya di Rumah TUHAN, juga semua harta benda istana, bersama beberapa orang sandera diangkut oleh Yoas ke Samaria.
15 And the rest of the acts of Joas, [even] all that he did in his might, how he warred with Amessias king of Juda, are not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Kisah lainnya mengenai Raja Yoas, termasuk kepahlawanannya melawan Amazia raja Yehuda dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Israel.
16 And Joas slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
Yoas meninggal dan dikuburkan di pekuburan raja-raja di Samaria. Yerobeam II anaknya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.
17 And Amessias the son of Joas king of Juda lived after the death of Joas son of Joachaz king of Israel fifteen years.
Setelah Yoas raja Israel meninggal, Amazia raja Yehuda, masih hidup 15 tahun lagi.
18 And the rest of the acts of Amessias, and all that he did, [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?
Di Yerusalem ada komplotan yang mau membunuh Amazia. Karena itu ia lari ke Lakhis, tetapi musuh-musuhnya mengejar dia ke sana dan membunuhnya. Jenazahnya diangkut dengan kuda ke Yerusalem, lalu dikuburkan di pekuburan raja-raja di Kota Daud. Maka rakyat Yehuda melantik Uzia, putra Amazia menjadi raja mereka. Pada waktu itu Uzia baru berumur 16 tahun. Kisah lainnya mengenai Raja Amazia dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Yehuda.
19 And they formed a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachis: and they sent after him to Lachis, and killed him there.
20 And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 And all the people of Juda took Azarias, and he was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amessias.
22 He built Aeloth, and restored it to Juda, after the king slept with his fathers.
Setelah kematian ayahnya, Uzia merebut kembali kota Elat dan membangunnya lagi.
23 In the fifteenth year of Amessias son of Joas king of Juda began Jeroboam son of Joas to reign over Israel in Samaria forty and one years.
Pada tahun kelima belas pemerintahan Amazia anak Yoas atas Yehuda, Yerobeam II anak Yoas menjadi raja Israel, dan memerintah di Samaria 41 tahun lamanya.
24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin.
Ia berdosa kepada TUHAN, karena mengikuti kejahatan Raja Yerobeam I yang telah membuat orang Israel berdosa.
25 He recovered the coast of Israel from the entering in of Aemath to the sea of Araba, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonas the son of Amathi, the prophet of Gethchopher.
Yerobeam II inilah yang merebut kembali seluruh daerah Israel, dari jalan ke Hamat di utara sampai Laut Mati di selatan. Itu sesuai dengan janji TUHAN, Allah Israel, melalui hamba-Nya, Nabi Yunus anak Amitai orang Gat-Hefer.
26 For the Lord saw [that] the affliction of Israel [was] very bitter, and that they were few in number, straitened and in lack, and destitute, and Israel had no helper.
TUHAN melihat betapa sengsaranya orang Israel, dan tidak ada seorang pun yang menolong mereka.
27 And the Lord said that he would not blot out the seed of Israel from under heaven; so he delivered them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joas.
TUHAN tidak bermaksud menghancurkan Israel untuk selama-lamanya, karena itu Ia menolong mereka melalui Raja Yerobeam II.
28 And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did, and his mighty deeds, which he achieved in war, and how he recovered Damascus and Aemath to Juda in Israel, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Kisah lainnya mengenai Raja Yerobeam II, mengenai kepahlawanannya dalam pertempuran-pertempuran dan bagaimana ia merebut kembali Damsyik dan Hamat dari Yehuda untuk Israel, semuanya dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Raja-raja Israel.
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zacharias his son reigned in his stead.
Yerobeam II meninggal dan dikubur di pekuburan raja-raja. Zakharia putranya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.
