Chronicles II 10
1 And Roboam came to Sychem: for all Israel came to Sychem to make him king.
૧રહાબામ શખેમ ગયો, કેમ કે સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓ તેને રાજા બનાવવા શખેમમાં આવ્યા હતા.
2 And it came to pass when Jeroboam the son of Nabat heard [it], (now he was in Egypt, forasmuch as he had fled there from the face of king Solomon, and Jeroboam lived in Egypt, ) that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
૨એમ બન્યું કે નબાટના પુત્ર યરોબામે આ વિષે સાંભળ્યું ત્યારે તે મિસરમાં હતો. તે સુલેમાન રાજાની પાસેથી મિસરમાં નાસી ગયો હતો; રહાબામ અંગે જાણીને યરોબામ મિસરમાંથી પાછો આવ્યો.
3 And they sent and called him: and Jeroboam and all the congregation came to Roboam, saying,
૩માણસ મોકલીને તેને મિસરમાંથી બોલાવવામાં આવ્યો હતો. યરોબામે તથા સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓએ આવીને રહાબામને વિનંતી કરી,
4 Your father made our yoke grievous: now then abate [somewhat] of your father's grievous rule, and of his heavy yoke which he put upon us, and we will serve you.
૪“તારા પિતાએ અમારા પર ભારે ઝૂંસરી મૂકી હતી. માટે હવે, તારા પિતાની સખત મહેનત તથા તેણે મૂકેલો ભારે બોજ તું કંઈક હલકો કર, એટલે અમે તારી સેવા કરીશું.”
5 And he said to them, Go away for three days, and [then] come to me. So the people departed.
૫રહાબામે તેઓને કહ્યું, “ત્રણ દિવસ પછી તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવજો.” તેથી લોકો ત્યાંથી પાછા ગયા.
6 And king Roboam assembled the elders that stood before his father Solomon in his life-time, saying, How do you counsel [me] to return an answer to this people?
૬રહાબામ રાજાએ, જયારે તેના પિતા સુલેમાન જીવતા હતા ત્યારે તેની હજૂરમાં જે વડીલો ઊભા રહેતા તેઓની સલાહ લેતાં તેઓને પૂછ્યું, “આ લોકોને શો જવાબ આપવો તેના વિષે તમે મને શી સલાહ આપો છો?”
7 And they spoke to him, saying, If you would this day befriend this people, and be kind to them, and speak to them good words, then will they be your servants for ever.
૭તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું, “જો તું આ લોકો સાથે માયાળુપણે વર્તશે, તેઓને રાજીખુશીમાં રાખશે અને તેઓની સાથે મીઠાશથી વાત કરશે, તો તેઓ હંમેશા તારી આધીનતામાં રહેશે.”
8 But he forsook the advice of the old men, who took counsel with him, and he took counsel with the young men who had been brought up with him, who stood before him.
૮પરંતુ વૃદ્ધ માણસોએ જે સલાહ આપી હતી તેની રહાબામે અવગણના કરીને તેની સાથે ઊભેલા જુવાનોની સલાહ લીધી.
9 And he said to them, What do you advise that I should answer this people, who spoke to me, saying, Ease [somewhat] of the yoke which your father laid upon us?
૯તેણે યુવાનોને પૂછ્યું, “આ લોકોએ મને એમ કહ્યું છે કે, ‘તારા પિતાએ અમારા ઉપર જે બોજ મૂક્યો હતો તે કંઈક હલકો કર,’ હવે મારે તેઓને શો જવાબ આપવો તે વિષે તમે શી સલાહ આપો છો?”
10 And the young men that had been brought up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus shall you speak to the people that spoke to you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, and do you lighten [somewhat of it] from us; thus shall you say, My little finger [shall be] thicker than my father's loins.
૧૦જે જુવાનો રહાબામ સાથે મોટા થયા હતા તેઓએ કહ્યું, “જે લોકોએ તારા પિતાએ મૂકેલો ભારે બોજો હલકો કરવાનું તને કહ્યું હતું. તેઓને તું કહેજે કે, ‘મારી ટચલી આંગળી મારા પિતાની કમર કરતાં જાડી છે.
11 And whereas my father chastised you with a heavy yoke, I will also add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, and I will chastise you with scorpions.
૧૧તેથી હવે, મારા પિતાએ તમારા ઉપર જે ભારે બોજો મૂક્યો હતો, તે બોજાનો ભાર હલકો કરવાને બદલે હું તમારા પર વધારીશ. મારા પિતા તમને ચાબુકોથી શિક્ષા કરતા, પણ હું તો વીંછીઓથી શિક્ષા કરીશ.’”
12 And Jeroboam and all the people came to Roboam on the third day, as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day.
૧૨રાજાએ કહેલું હતું, “ત્રીજા દિવસે મારી પાસે પાછા આવજો.” તેથી યરોબામ અને સર્વ લોકો ત્રીજા દિવસે રહાબામ પાસે પાછા આવ્યા.
13 And the king answered harshly; and king Roboam forsook the counsel of the old men,
૧૩રહાબામ રાજાએ તેઓને ઉદ્ધતાઈથી જવાબ આપ્યો; અને વડીલોની સલાહને ગણકારી નહિ.
14 and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
૧૪પણ જુવાનોની સલાહ પ્રમાણે તેણે તેઓ સાથે વાત કરી; તેણે કહ્યું, “હું તમારા પરની ઝૂંસરી ભારે કરીશ; હું એ ઝૂંસરીનો ભાર વધારીશ. મારા પિતા તમને ચાબુકોથી સજા કરતા હતા, પણ હું તમને વીંછીઓથી સજા કરીશ.”
15 And the king listened not to the people, for there was a change [of their minds] from God, saying, The Lord has confirmed his word, which he spoke by the hand of Achia the Selonite concerning Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and [concerning] all Israel;
૧૫આમ, રાજાએ લોકોની વાત સાંભળી નહિ, આ સર્વ ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છાથી થયું હતું, કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે શીલોની અહિયા મારફતે નબાટના દીકરા યરોબામને જે વચન આપ્યું હતું તેને તે પૂર્ણ કરે.
16 for the king did not listen to them. And the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David, or inheritance in the son of Jessae? to your tents, O Israel: now see to your own house, David. So all Israel went to their tents.
૧૬જ્યારે આખા ઇઝરાયલે જોયું કે રાજા તેઓનું સાંભળતો નથી ત્યારે લોકોએ તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “દાઉદમાં અમારો શો ભાગ? યિશાઈના દીકરામાં અમારો શો વારસો? દરેક જણ પોતપોતાના ઘરે પાછા જાઓ. હે દાઉદ પુત્ર, હવે તારું પોતાનું ઘર તું સંભાળજે.” એવું કહીને તમામ ઇઝરાયલી લોકો પોતપોતાને ઘરે પાછા ગયા.
17 But the men of Israel, even those who lived in the cities of Juda, [remained] and made Roboam king over them.
૧૭પણ યહૂદિયાના નગરોમાં જે ઇઝરાયલી લોકો રહેતા હતા તેઓ પર રહાબામે રાજ કર્યું.
18 And king Roboam sent to them Adoniram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, and he died. And king Roboam hasted to mount [his] chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
૧૮પછી રહાબામ રાજાએ હદોરામ, જે મજૂરોનો ઉપરી હતો અને જુલમથી કામ કરાવતો હતો તેને ઇઝરાયલના લોકો પાસે મોકલ્યો, પણ ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ તેને પથ્થરે મારીને મારી નાખ્યો. તેથી રાજા તેના રથ પર બેસીને ઉતાવળે યરુશાલેમ નાસી ગયો.
19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David until this day.
૧૯એમ, ઇઝરાયલે દાઉદના ઘર વિરુદ્ધ બળવો કર્યો, જે આજ દિવસ સુધી ચાલતો રહ્યો છે.
