Chronicles I 6
1 The sons of Levi: Gedson, Caath, and Merari.
De zonen van Levi waren: Gersjon, Kehat en Merari.
2 And the sons of Caath; Ambram, and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel.
De zonen van Kehat waren: Amram, Jishar, Chebron en Oezziël.
3 And the sons of Ambram; Aaron, and Moses, and Mariam: and the sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abiud, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
De kinderen van Amram waren: Aäron, Moses en Mirjam. De zonen van Aäron waren Nadab, Abihoe, Elazar en Itamar.
4 Eleazar begot Phinees, Phinees begot Abisu;
Elazar verwekte Pinechas; Pinechas verwekte Abisjóea;
5 Abisu begot Bokki, and Bokki begot Ozi;
Abisjóea verwekte Boekki; Boekki verwekte Oezzi;
6 Ozi begot Zaraia, Zaraia begot Mariel;
Oezzi verwekte Zerachja; Zerachja verwekte Merajot;
7 and Mariel begot Amaria, and Amaria begot Achitob;
Merajot verwekte Amarja; Amarja verwekte Achitoeb;
8 and Achitob begot Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Achimaas;
Achitoeb verwekte Sadok: Sadok verwekte Achimáas;
9 and Achimaas begot Azarias, and Azarias begot Joanan;
Achimáas verwekte Azarja; Azarja verwekte Jochanan;
10 and Joanan begot Azarias: he ministered as priest in the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem.
Jochanan verwekte Azarja. Deze laatste was priester in de tempel, die Salomon te Jerusalem bouwde.
11 And Azarias begot Amaria, and Amaria begot Achitob;

12 and Achitob begot Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Salom;
Achitoeb verwekte Sadok; Sadok verwekte Sjalloem;
13 and Salom begot Chelcias, and Chelcias begot Azarias;
Sjalloem verwekte Chilki-ja; Chilki-ja verwekte Azarja;
14 and Azarias begot Saraia, and Saraias begot Josadac.
Azarja verwekte Seraja; Seraja verwekte Jehosadak.
15 And Josadac went into captivity with Juda and Jerusalem under Nabuchodonosor.
Jehosadak trad af, toen Jahweh Juda en Jerusalem door Nabukodonosor in ballingschap liet wegvoeren.
16 The sons of Levi: Gedson, Caath, and Merari.
De zonen van Levi waren dus Gersjon, Kehat en Merari.
17 And these [are] the names of the sons of Gedson; Lobeni, and Semei.
De zonen van Gersjon heetten Libni en Sjimi;
18 The sons of Caath; Ambram, and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel.
die van Kehat heetten Amram, Jishar, Chebron en Oezziël;
19 The sons of Merari; Mooli and Musi: and these [are] the families of Levi, according to their families.
die van Merari heetten Machli en Moesji. Hier volgen de verschillende geslachten der Levieten naar hun families:
20 To Gedson—to Lobeni his son—[were born] Jeth his son, Zammath his son,
De zoon van Gersjon was Libni; die van Libni was Jáchat; die van Jáchat was Zimma;
21 Joab his son, Addi his son, Zara his son, Jethri his son.
die van Zimma was Joach; die van Joach was Iddo; die van Iddo was Zérach; die van Zérach was Jeaterai.
22 The sons of Caath; Aminadab his son, Core his son, Aser his son;
De zonen van Kehat waren: zijn eigen zoon was Amminadab; de zoon van Amminadab was Kórach; die van Kórach was Assir;
23 Helcana his son, Abisaph his son, Aser his son:
die van Assir was Elkana; die van Elkana was Ebjasaf; die van Ebjasaf was Assir;
24 Thaath his son, Uriel his son, Ozia his son, Saul his son.
die van Assir was Táchat; die van Táchat was Oeriël; die van Oeriël was Oezzi-ja; die van Oezzi-ja was Sjaoel.
25 And the sons of Helcana; Amessi, and Achimoth.
De zonen van Elkana waren: Amasai, Achimot
26 Helcana his son, Suphi his son, Cainaath his son;
en Elkana. De zonen van dezen laatsten Elkana waren: zijn eigen zoon was Sofai; de zoon van Sofai was Náchat;
27 Eliab his son, Jeroboam his son, Helcana his son.
die van Náchat was Eliab; die van Eliab was Jerocham; die van Jerocham was Elkana.
28 The sons of Samuel; the firstborn Sani, and Abia.
De zonen van Samuël waren: Joël, de oudste, en Abi-ja, de tweede.
29 The sons of Merari; Mooli, Lobeni his son, Semei his son, Oza his son;
De zonen van Merari waren: zijn eigen zoon was Machli; de zoon van Machli was Libni; die van Libni was Sjimi; die van Sjimi was Oezza;
30 Samaa his son, Angia his son, Asaias his son.
die van Oezza was Sjima; die van Sjima was Chaggi-ja; die van Chaggi-ja was Asaja.
31 And these [were the men] whom David set over the service of the singers in the house of the Lord when the ark was at rest.
Hier volgen degenen, die door David belast waren met de verzorging van de muziek in het huis van Jahweh als de ark daar geplaatst zou zijn.
32 And they ministered in front of the tabernacle of witness [playing] on instruments, until Solomon built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they stood according to their order for their services.
Ze verzorgden de muziek voor de tabernakel van de openbaringstent, totdat Salomon in Jerusalem de tempel van Jahweh zou hebben gebouwd, en ze hun dienst volgens voorschrift zouden kunnen volbrengen.
33 And these [were the men] that stood, and their sons, of the sons of Caath: Aeman the psalm singer, son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34 the son of Helcana, the son of Jeroboam, the son of Eliel, the son of Thoas,
zoon van Elkana, zoon van Jerocham, zoon van Eliël, zoon van Tóach,
35 the son of Suph, the son of Helcana, the son of Maath, the son of Amathi,
zoon van Soef, zoon van Elkana, zoon van Machat, zoon van Amasai,
36 the son of Helcana, the son of Joel, the son of Azarias, the son of Japhanias,
zoon van Elkana, zoon van Joël, zoon van Azarja, zoon van Sefanja,
37 the son of Thaath, the son of Aser, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core,
zoon van Táchat, zoon van Assir, zoon van Ebjasaf, zoon van Kórach,
38 the son of Isaar, the son of Caath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39 And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right hand; Asaph the son of Barachias, the son of Samaa,
Zijn ambtgenoot, die aan zijn rechterhand stond, was een Gersjoniet, namelijk Asaf. Deze was de zoon van Berekjáhoe, den zoon van Sjima,
40 the son of Michael, the son of Baasia, the son of Melchia,
zoon van Mikaël, zoon van Baäseja, zoon van Malki-ja,
41 the son of Athani, the son of Zaarai,
zoon van Etni, zoon van Zérach, zoon van Adaja,
42 the son of Adai, the son of Aetham, the son of Zammam, the son of Semei,
zoon van Etan, zoon van Zimma, zoon van Sjimi,
43 the son of Jeeth, the son of Gedson, the son of Levi.

44 And the sons of Merari their brethren on the left hand: Aetham the son of Kisa, the son of Abai, the son of Maloch,
Zijn ambtgenoot, die aan zijn linkerhand stond, was een Merariet, namelijk Etan. Deze was de zoon van Kisji, den zoon van Abdi zoon van Malloek,
45 the son of Asebi,
zoon van Chasjabja, zoon van Amas-ja, zoon van Chilki-ja,
46 the son of Amessias, the son of Bani, the son of Semer,
zoon van Amsi, zoon van Bani, zoon van Sjémer,
47 the son of Mooli, the son of Musi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
zoon van Machli, zoon van Moesji, zoon van Merari, zoon van Levi.
48 And their brethren according to the houses of their fathers, [were] the Levites who were appointed to all the work of ministration of the tabernacle of the house of God.
De levieten, hun ambtgenoten, waren belast met allerlei diensten in de tabernakel van het Godshuis.
49 And Aaron and his sons [were] to burn incense on the altar of whole burnt offerings, and on the altar of incense, for all the ministry [in] the holy of holies, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all things that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.
Maar Aäron met zijn zonen waren belast met de offerdienst op het brandofferaltaar en het reukofferaltaar, met allerlei plichten in het Allerheiligste, en moesten verzoening voor Israël bewerken, juist zoals Moses, de dienaar van God, het had voorgeschreven.
50 And these [are] the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinees his son, Abisu his son,
Hier volgen de afstammelingen van Aäron. Zijn eigen zoon was Elazar; die van Elazar was Pinechas; die van Pinechas was Abisjóea;
51 Bokki his son, Ozi his son, Saraia his son,
die van Abisjóea was Boekki; die van Boekki was Oezzi; die van Oezzi was Zerachja;
52 Mariel his son, Amaria his son, Achitob his son,
die van Zerachja was Merajot; die van Merajot was Amarja; die van Amarja was Achitoeb;
53 Sadoc his son, Achimaas his son.
die van Achitoeb was Sadok; die van Sadok was Achimáas.
54 And these [are] their residences in their villages, in their coasts, to the sons of Aaron, to their family the Caathites: for they had the lot.
En dit waren hun woonplaatsen met hun kampementen op hun grondgebied. Aan de zonen van Aäron, een der geslachten der Kehatieten, voor wie het eerste lot was gevallen,
55 And they gave them Chebron in the land of Juda, and its suburbs round about it.
gaf men Hebron in het land Juda, met de omliggende weidegronden.
56 But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Chaleb the son of Jephonne.
Het akkerland van die stad en haar dorpen had men reeds aan Kaleb, den zoon van Jefoenne, in eigendom gegeven.
57 And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge, [even] Chebron, and Lobna and her suburbs round about, and Selna and her suburbs, and Esthamo and her suburbs,
Aan de zonen van Aäron gaf men dus de vrijstad Hebron; daarenboven Libna, Jattir, Esjtemóa,
58 and Jethar and her suburbs, and Dabir and her suburbs,
Cholon, Debir,
59 and Asan and her suburbs, and Baethsamys and her suburbs:
Asjan en Bet-Sjémesj, alle met bijbehorende weidegronden.
60 and of the tribe of Benjamin Gabai and her suburbs, and Galemath and her suburbs, and Anathoth and her suburbs: all their cities [were] thirteen cities according to their families.
Uit de stam Benjamin: Géba, Alémet en Anatot, elk met zijn weidegronden. In het geheel dus dertien steden met haar bijbehorende weidegronden.
61 And to the sons of Caath that were left of their families, [there were given] out of the tribe, [namely], out of the half-tribe of Manasse, by lot, ten cities.
Onder de overige geslachten der Kehatieten werden tien steden verloot uit de stammen Efraïm, Dan en de helft van Manasse.
62 And to the sons of Gedson according to their families [there were given] thirteen cities of the tribe of Issachar, of the tribe of Aser, of the tribe of Nephthali, of the tribe of Manasse in Basan.
De geslachten der Gersjonieten kregen uit de stammen Issakar, Aser, Neftali en Manasse dertien steden in Basjan.
63 And to the sons of Merari according to their families [there were given], by lot, twelve cities of the tribe of Ruben, of the tribe of Gad, [and] of the tribe of Zabulon.
Onder de geslachten der Merarieten werden twaalf steden verloot uit de stammen Ruben, Gat en Zabulon.
64 So the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their suburbs.
Dit waren dus de steden met bijbehorende weidegronden, welke de levieten van de Israëlieten hebben gekregen.
65 And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Juda, and out of the tribe of the children of Symeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities which they call by name.
Uit de stammen der Judeërs, Simeonieten en Benjamieten waren bovengenoemde steden verloot.
66 And [to the members] of the families of the sons of Caath there were also given the cities of their borders out of the tribe of Ephraim.
Aan de geslachten der Kehatieten werden door het lot de volgende steden toegewezen: Uit de stam Efraïm
67 And they gave them the cities of refuge, Sychem and her suburbs in mount Ephraim, and Gazer and her suburbs,
kregen ze de vrijstad Sikem op het Efraïmgebergte, met Gézer,
68 and Jecmaan and her suburbs, and Baethoron and her suburbs,
Jokmeam, Bet-Choron,
69 and Aelon and her suburbs, and Gethremmon and her suburbs:
Ajjalon en Gat-Rimmon, alle met bijbehorende weidegronden.
70 and of the half-tribe of Manasse Anar and her suburbs, and Jemblaan and her suburbs, to the sons of Caath that were left, according to [each several] family.
Uit de halve stam van Manasse waren Aner en Bilam, met bijbehorende weidegronden voor de overige geslachten der Kehatieten bestemd.
71 To the sons of Gedson from the families of the half-tribe of Manasse [they gave] Golan of Basan and her suburbs, and Aseroth and her suburbs.
Aan de geslachten der Gersjonieten werden toegewezen: Uit de ene helft van de stam Manasse: Golan in Basjan, en Asjtarot, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
72 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedes and her suburbs, and Deberi and her suburbs, and Dabor and her suburbs,
Uit de stam Issakar: Kédes, Daberat,
73 and Ramoth, and Aenan and her suburbs.
Ramot en Anem, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
74 And of the tribe of Aser; Maasal and her suburbs, and Abdon and her suburbs,
Uit de stam Aser: Masjal, Abdon,
75 and Acac and her suburbs, and Roob and her suburbs.
Choekok en Rechob, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
76 And of the tribe of Nephthali; Kedes in Galilee and her suburbs, and Chamoth and her suburbs, and Kariathaim and her suburbs.
Uit de stam Neftali: Kédesj in Galilea, Chammon en Kirjatáim, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
77 To the sons of Merari that were left, [they gave] out of the tribe of Zabulon Remmon and her suburbs, and Thabor and her suburbs:
Aan de overige levieten, de Merarieten, werden toegewezen uit de stam Zabulon: Rimmon en Tabor, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
78 out of [the country] beyond Jordan; Jericho westward of Jordan: out of the tribe of Ruben; Bosor in the wilderness and her suburbs, and Jasa and her suburbs,
In het Overjordaanse, tegenover Jericho oostelijk van de Jordaan, kregen ze uit de stam Ruben: Béser in de woestijn, Jahsa,
79 and Kadmoth and her suburbs, and Maephla and her suburbs.
Kedemot en Mefáat, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
80 Out of the tribe of Gad; Rammoth Galaad and her suburbs, and Maanaim and her suburbs,
Uit de stam Gad: Ramot in Gilad, Machanáim,
81 and Esebon and her suburbs, and Jazer and her suburbs.
Chesjbon en Jazer, met bijbehorende weidegronden.
