< Chronicles I 26 >
1 And for the divisions of the gates: the sons of the Corites [were] Mosellemia, of the sons of Asaph.
Forsothe these weren the departingis of porteris; of the sones of Chore, Mellesemye was the sone of Chore, of the sones of Asaph.
2 And Mosellemia's firstborn son [was] Zacharias, the second Jadiel, the third Zabadia, the fourth Jenuel,
The sones of Mellesemie weren Zacharie the firste gendrid, Jedihel the secounde, Zabadie the thridde, Yathanyel the fourthe,
3 the fifth Jolam, the sixth Jonathan, the seventh Elionai, the eighth Abdedom.
Aylam the fifthe, Johannan the sixte, Helioenay the seuenthe.
4 And to Abdedom [there were born] sons, Samaias the firstborn, Jozabath the second, Joath the third, Sachar the fourth, Nathanael the fifth,
Forsothe the sones of Ebededom weren these; Semey the firste gendrid, Jozabab the secounde, Joaha the thridde, Seccar the fourthe, Nathanael the fyuethe,
5 Amiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Phelathi the eighth: for God blessed him.
Amyhel the sixte, Isachar the seuenthe, Pollathi the eiythe, for the Lord blesside hym.
6 And to Samaias his son were born the sons of his firstborn, chiefs over the house of their father, for they were mighty.
Forsothe to Semeye, his sone, weren borun sones, souereyns of her meynees; for thei weren ful stronge men.
7 The sons of Samai; Othni, and Raphael, and Obed, and Elzabath, and Achiud, mighty men, Heliu, and Sabachia, and Isbacom.
Therfor the sones of Semeye weren Othyn, and Raphael, and Obediel, and Zadab; and hise britheren, ful stronge men; also Helyu, and Samathie.
8 All [these were] of the sons of Abdedom, they and their sons and their brethren, doing mightily in service: in all sixty-two [born] to Abdedom.
Alle these weren of the sones of Obededom; thei and her sones and britheren, ful stronge men for to serue, two and sixti of Obededom.
9 And Mosellemia [had] eighteen sons and brethren, mighty men.
Sotheli of Mellesemeye, the sones and britheren, ful stronge, `weren eiytene.
10 And to Osa of the sons of Merari [there were born] sons, keeping the dominion; though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him chief of the second division.
Forsothe of Oza, that is, of the sones of Merarie, Sechri was prince; for he hadde no firste gendrid, and therfor his fadir settide hym in to prince;
11 Chelcias the second, Tablai the third, Zacharias the fourth: all these [were] the sons and brethren of Osa, thirteen.
and Elchias the secounde, Thebelias the thridde, Zacarie the fourthe; alle these threttene weren the sones and britheren of Osa.
12 To these [were assigned] the divisions of the gates, to the chiefs of the mighty men the daily courses, even their brethren, to minister in the house of the Lord.
These weren departid in to porteris, that euere the princes of kepyngis, as also her britheren, schulden mynystre in the hows of the Lord.
13 And they cast lots for the small as well as for the great, for the several gates, according to their families.
Therfor lottis weren sent euenly, bothe to the litle and to the grete, bi her meyneeis, in to ech of the yatis.
14 And the lot of the east gates fell to Selemias, and Zacharias: the sons of Soaz cast lots for Melchias, and the lot came out northward.
Therfor the lot of the eest bifelde to Semelie; forsothe the north coost bifelde bi lot to Zacarie, his sone, a ful prudent man and lernd;
15 To Abdedom [they gave by lot] the south, opposite the house of Esephim.
sotheli to Obededom and hise sones at the southe, in which part of the hows the counsel of the eldre men was;
16 [They gave the lot] for the second to Osa westward, after the gate of the chamber by the ascent, watch against watch.
Sephyma and Thosa weren at the west, bisidis the yate that ledith to the weie of stiyng, kepyng ayens kepyng.
17 Eastward [were] six [watchmen] in the day; northward four by the day; southward four by the day; and two at the Esephim,
Sotheli at the eest weren sixe dekenes, and at the north weren foure bi dai; and at the south also weren foure at the myddai; and, where the counsel was, weren tweyne and tweyne.
18 to relieve guard, also for Osa westward after the chamber-gate, three. [There was] a ward over against the ward of the ascent eastward, six [men] in a day, and four for the north, and four for the south, and at the Esephim two to relieve guard, and four by the west, and two to relieve guard at the pathway.
And in the sellis, ethir `litle housis, of porteris at the west, weren foure in the weie, and tweyne bi the sellis.
19 These [are] the divisions of the porters for the sons of Core, and to the sons of Merari.
These weren the departyngis of porteris, of the sones of Chore and of Merary.
20 And the Levites their brethren [were] over the treasures of the house of the Lord, and over the treasures of the hallowed things.
Forsothe Achias was ouer the tresours of the hows of the Lord, and ouer the vessels of hooli thingis.
21 These [were] the sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gersonite: to Ladan [belonged] the heads of the families: [the son] of Ladan the Gersonite [was] Jeiel.
The sones of Leedan, the sone of Gerson; of Leedan weren the princis of meynees of Leedan, and of Gerson, and of Jehiel.
22 The sons of Jeiel [were] Zethom, and Joel; brethren [who were] over the treasures of the house of the Lord.
The sones of Jehiel weren, Zethan, and Johel, his brother, ouer the tresours of the hows of the Lord,
23 To Ambram and Issaar belonged Chebron, and Oziel.
Amramytis, and Isaaritis, and Ebronytis, and Ezielitis.
24 And Subael the [son] of Gersam, the [son] of Moses, [was] over the treasures.
Forsothe Subahel, the sone of Gerson, sone of Moises, was souereyn of the tresour;
25 And Rabias [was] son to his brother Eliezer, and [so was] Josias, and Joram, and Zechri, and Salomoth.
and his brother, Eliezer; whos sone was Raabia; and his sone was Asaye; his sone was Joram; and his sone was Zechry; but and his sone was Selemith.
26 This Salomoth and his brethren [were] over all the sacred treasures, which David the king and the heads of families consecrated, [and] the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and princes of the host,
Thilke Selemith, and his britheren, weren ouer the tresours of hooli thingis, whiche `Dauid the kyng halewide, and the princes of meynees, and the tribunes, and the centuriouns, and the duykis of the oost,
27 things which he took out of cities and from the spoils, and consecrated some of them, so that the building of the house of God should not lack [supplies];
of the batels, and of the spuylis of batels, whiche thei halewiden to the reparacioun and purtenaunce of the temple of the Lord.
28 and over all the holy things of God dedicated by Samuel the prophet, and Saul the son of Kis, and Abenner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Saruia, whatever they sanctified [was] by the hand of Salomoth and his brethren.
Forsothe Samuel, the prophete, halewide alle these thingis, and Saul, the sone of Cys, and Abner, the sone of Ner, and Joab, the sone of Saruye; and alle halewiden tho thingis bi the hond of Salemyth, and of his britheren.
29 For the Issaarites, Chonenia, and [his] sons [were over] the outward ministration over Israel, to record and to judge.
Sotheli Chonenye was souereyn and hise sones to Isaaritis, to the werkis with outforth on Israel, to teche and to deme hem.
30 For the Chebronites, Asabias and his brethren, a thousand and seven hundred mighty men, [were] over the charge of Israel beyond Jordan westward, for all the service of the Lord and work of the king.
Sotheli of Ebronytis, Asabie, and Sabie, and hise britheren, ful stronge men, a thousynde and seuene hundrid, weren souereyns on Israel biyende Jordan ayens the weste, in alle the werkis of the Lord, and in to the seruyce of the kyng.
31 Of the [family] of Chebron Urias [was] chief, even of the Chebronites according to their generations, according to their families. In the forties year of his reign they were numbered, and there were found mighty men amongst them in Jazer of Galaad.
Forsothe Herie was prynce of Ebronytis, bi her meynees and kynredis. In the fourtithe yeer of the rewme of Dauid there weren noumbred and foundun ful stronge men in Jazer Galaad;
32 And his brethren [were] two thousand and seven hundred mighty men, chiefs of their families, and king David set them over the Rubenites, and the Gaddites, and the half-tribe of Manasse, for every ordinance of the Lord, and business of the king.
and hise britheren, of strongere age, twei thousynde and seuene hundrid, princes of meynees. Sotheli `Dauid the kyng made hem souereyns of Rubenytis and Gaditis, and of the half lynage of Manasses, `in to al the seruyce of God and of the kyng.
