Chronicles I 21
1 And the devil stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
इस्राएलको विरुद्ध एउटा दुश्मन खडा भयो र आफ्ना मानिसहरूको सङ्ख्या गन्नलाई दाऊदलाई सुर्यायो ।
2 And king David said to Joab and to the captains of the forces, Go, number Israel from Bersabee even to Dan, and bring me [the account], and I shall know their number.
दाऊदले योआब र आफ्ना फौजका कमान्डरहरूलाई भने, “जाओ, बेर्शेबादेखि दानसम्मका इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको सङ्खया गन्ती गर र मलाई बताओ, ताकि म तिनीहरूको संख्या जान्न सकूँ ।”
3 And Joab said, May the Lord add to his people, a hundred-fold as many as they [are], and [let] the eyes of my lord the king see [it]: all [are] the servants of my lord. Why does my lord seek this thing? [do it not], lest it become a sin to Israel.
योआबले भने, “परमप्रभुले आफ्ना फौजलाई सय गुणा बढाउनुभएको होस् । तर हे मेरा मालिक राजा, के तिनीहरूले मेरा मालिकको सेवा गर्दैनन् र? इस्राएलमाथि किन दोष ल्याउनुहुन्छ?”
4 Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab; and Joab went out and passed through all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
तर राजाको वचन योआबको विरुद्धमा लागू भयो । त्यसैले योआब त्यहाँबाट हिंडे र सारा इस्राएलभरी गए । तब तिनी यरूशलेममा फर्केर आए ।
5 And Joab gave the number of the mustering of the people to David: and all Israel was a million and a hundred thousand men that drew sword: and the sons of Juda [were] four hundred and seventy thousand men that drew sword.
त्यसपछि योआबले दाऊदलाई योद्धाहरूको जम्मा संख्या बताए । इस्राएलमा तरवार चलाउन सक्नेहरू इस्राएलमा ११ लाख थिए । यहूदामा मात्र ४ लाख ७० हजार सेना थिए ।
6 But he numbered not Levi and Benjamin amongst them; for the word of the king was painful to Joab.
तर लेवी र बेन्यामीनलाई तिनीहरूसँग गन्ती गरिएन, किनकि राजाको हुकुमले योआबलाई साह्रै खिन्न पारेको थियो ।
7 And [there was] evil in the sight of the Lord respecting this thing; and he struck Israel.
यो कामबाट परमेश्वर अप्रसन्न हुनुभयो, अनि उहाँले इस्राएललाई आक्रमण गर्नुभयो ।
8 And David said to God, I have sinned exceedingly, in that I have done this thing: and now, I pray you, remove the sin of your servant; for I have been exceedingly foolish.
दाऊदले परमेश्वरलाई भने, “मैले यसो गरेर ठुलो पाप गरेको छु । अब आफ्नो दासको दोषलाई हटाउनुहोस्, किनकि मैले धेरै मूर्खतापूर्ण काम गरेको छु ।”
9 And the Lord spoke to Gad the seer, saying,
परमप्रभुले दाऊदका अगमवक्ता गादलाई भन्नुभयो,
10 Go and speak to David, saying, Thus says the Lord, I bring three things upon you: choose one of them for yourself, and I will do it to you.
“गएर दाऊदलाई भन्, ‘परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छः तँलाई म तिनवटा कुरा रोज्न दिन्छु । तिमध्ये एउटा रोज ।’”
11 And Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus says the Lord, Choose for yourself,
यसैले गाद दाऊदकहाँ गए र तिनलाई भने, “परमप्रभु यही भन्नुहुन्छ, ‘यिमध्ये एउटा रोज:
12 either three years of famine, or that you should flee three months from the face of your enemies, and the sword of your enemies [shall be employed] to destroy you, or that the sword of the Lord and pestilence [should be] three days in the land, and the angel of the Lord [shall be] destroying in all the inheritance of Israel. And now consider what I shall answer to him that sent the message.
तिन वर्षसम्मको अनिकालको कुरा, वा तेरा शत्रुहरूले तीन महिनासम्म खेद्ने र उनीहरूका तरवारले मारिने कुरा, वा तिन दिनको लागि परमप्रभुको तरवार, अर्थात् परमप्रभुका दूतले इस्राएलका सम्पूर्ण ठाउँमा विनाश ल्याउने एउटा विपत्तिको कुरा ।’ त्यसो हो भने, मलाई पठाउनुहुनेकहाँ मैले के जवाफ लानुपर्ने हो सो अब निर्णय गर्नुहोस् ।”
13 And David said to Gad, They are very hard for me, even [all] the three: let me fall now into the hands of the Lord, for his mercies [are] very abundant, and let me not fall by any means into the hands of man.
तब दाऊदले गादलाई भने, “म साह्रै सङ्कष्टमा परेको छु! मानिसको हातमा पर्नुभन्दा मलाई परमप्रभुको हातमा नै पर्न देऊ, किनकि उहाँका करुणामय कामहरू धेरै महान् छन् ।”
14 So the Lord brought pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
त्यसैले परमप्रभुले इस्राएलमा एउटा विपत्ति पठाउनुभयो, र सत्तरी हजार मानिसहरू मरे ।
15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord saw, and repented for the evil, and said to the angel that was destroying, Let it suffice you; withhold your hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite.
परमेश्वरले यरूशलेम विनाश गर्न एउटा स्वर्गदूत पठाउनुभयो । तिनले त्यो नाश गर्न लाग्दा परमप्रभुले त्यो देखेर त्यस सर्वनाशदेखि मन बदल्नुभयो । ती नाश गर्ने स्वर्गदूतलाई उहाँले भन्नुभयो, “अब भयो! तिम्रो हात थाम ।” त्यस बेला ती स्वर्गदूत यबूसी अरौनाका खलाको छेउमा उभिरहेका थिए ।
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord, standing between the earth and the heaven, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem: and David and the elders clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
दाऊदले मास्तिर हेरे र परमप्रभुका स्वर्गदूतले आफ्नो हातमा नाङ्गो तरवार लिएर यरूशलेममाथि ताकेर आकाश र पृथ्वीका बीचमा खडा भएको देखे । तब भाङ्ग्रा लागाएका दाऊद र धर्म-गुरुहरू भूइँमा घोप्टो परे ।
17 And David said to God, [Was it] not I [that] gave orders to number the people? and I am the guilty one; I have greatly sinned: but these sheep, what have they done? O Lord God, let your hand be upon me, and upon my father's house, and not on your people for destruction, O Lord!
दाऊदले परमेश्वरलाई भने, “सेनाको गन्ती गर् भनेर हुकुम दिने म होइनँ र? मैले यो दुष्ट काम गरें । तर बिचरा यी भेडाहरूले के नै पो गरेका छन् र? हे परमप्रभु मेरा परमेश्वर!, तपाईंको हातले म र मेरो घरानालाई प्रहार गरोस्, तर तर यो विपत्ति तपाईंका मानिसहरूमाथि नरहोस् ।”
18 And the angel of the Lord told Gad to tell David, that he should go up to erect and altar to the Lord, in the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite.
यसैले दाऊदलाई यबूसी अरौनाको खलामा गएर परमप्रभुको निम्ति एउटा वेदी बनाउन भन् भनी परमप्रभुका स्वर्गदूतले गादलाई भने ।
19 And David went up according to the word of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the Lord.
यसैले परमप्रभुको नाउँमा गादले हुकुम गरेझैं गर्नलाइ दाऊद त्यहाँ उक्लेर गए ।
20 And Orna turned and saw the king; and he hid himself and his four sons with him. Now Orna was threshing wheat.
अरौनाले आफ्नो गहूँ चुट्दै गरेका समयमा, तिनी पछि फर्के, र स्वर्गदूतलाई देखे । तिनी र तिनका चार जना छोराहरू आफूलाई लुकाए ।
21 And David came to Orna; and Orna came forth from the threshing floor, and did obeisance to David with his face to the ground.
दाऊद अरौनाकहाँ आउँदा, अरौनाले हेरे र दाऊदलाई देखे । तिनी खलाबाट बाहिर आए र आफ्नो अनुहार भुइँमा घोप्टो पारेर दाऊदको अघि घुँडा टेके ।
22 And David said to Orna, Give me your place of the threshing floor, and I will build upon it an altar to the Lord: give it me for its worth in money, and the plague shall cease from [amongst] the people.
तब दाऊदले अरौनालाई भने, “मलाई यो खला बेच ताकि यहाँ म परमप्रभुको निम्ति एउटा वेदी बनाउन सकूँ । म पुरै दाम तिर्नेछु, ताकि मानिसहरूबाट यो विपत्ति हटिजाओस् ।”
23 And Orna said to David, Take it to yourself, and let my lord the king do what is right in his eyes: see, I have given the calves for a whole burnt offering, and the plough for wood, and the corn for a meat-offering; I have given all.
अरौनाले दाऊदलाई भने, “त्यो तपाईंको आफ्नै ठानेर लिनुहोस्, मेरा मालिक महाराजा । हजुरो नजरमा जस्तो असल लाग्छ सो त्यहाँ गर्नुहोस् । हेर्नुहोस्, म तपाईंलाई होमबलिको निम्ति गोरुहरू, दाउराको निम्ति काठहरू र अन्नबलिको निम्ति गहूँ दिन्छु । यो सबै थोक म तपाईंलाई दिनेछु ।”
24 And king David said to Orna, Nay; for I will surely buy it for its worth in money: for I will not take your property for the Lord, to offer a whole burnt offering to the Lord without cost [to myself].
दाऊद राजाले औरानलाई भने, “होइन, पुरै दाम तिरेर नै म यसलाई किन्छु । तिम्रो जे छ त्यो लिने अनि मेरो दाम नपरी त्यो सित्तैंमा परमप्रभुलाई होमबलीको रूपमा चढाउने काम म गर्दिन ।”
25 And David gave to Orna for his place six hundred shekels of gold [by] weight.
यसैले त्यस जग्गाको निम्ति दाऊदले अरौनालाई छ सय सुनका सिक्का तिरे ।
26 And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered up whole burnt offerings and peace-offerings: and he cried to the Lord, and he answered him by fire out of heaven on the altar of whole burnt offerings, and [it] consumed the whole burnt offering.
दाऊदले त्यहाँ परमप्रभुको निम्ति एउटा वेदी बनाए र त्यसमाथि होमबलि र मेलबलि चढाए । तिनले परमप्रभुमा पुकारा गरे, जसले तिनलाई स्वर्गबाट होमबलिको वेदीमा आगो बर्साएर जवाफ दिनुभयो ।
27 And the Lord spoke to the angel; and he put up the sword into its sheath.
तब परमप्रभुले त्यो स्वर्गदूतलाई आज्ञा दिनुभयो र स्वर्गदूतले आफ्नो तरवारलाई त्यसको म्यानमा राखे ।
28 At that time when David saw that the Lord answered him in the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite, he also sacrificed there.
जब दाऊदले यबूसी अरौनाको खलामा परमप्रभुले जवाफ दिनुभएको देखे, तब तिनले त्यही बेला बलिदानहरू चढाए ।
29 And the tabernacle of the Lord which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of whole burnt offerings, [were] at that time in the high place at Gabaon.
त्यस बेला, मोशाले उजाड-स्थानमा बनाएको परमप्रभुको पवित्र वासस्थान र होमबलिको वेदी गिबोनको डाँडाको उच्च स्थानमा नै थिए ।
30 And David could not go before it to enquire of God; for he hasted not because of the sword of the angel of the Lord.
तापनि परमप्रभुको अगुवाइ माग्न दाऊद त्यहाँ जान सकेनन्, किनकि ती स्वर्गदूतको तरवारसँग तिनी साह्रै डराएका थिए ।
