Psalms 97
1 For David, when his land is established. The Lord reigns, let the earth exult, let many islands rejoice.
Herren er konge; jordi fagne seg, mange øyar glede seg!
2 Cloud, and darkness are round about him; righteousness and judgment are the establishment of his throne.
Skyer og myrker er kringum honom, rettferd og rett er grunnvoll for hans kongsstol.
3 Fire shall go before him, and burn up his enemies round about.
Eld gjeng framfyre honom og brenner hans motstandarar rundt ikring.
4 His lightnings appeared to the world; the earth saw, and trembled.
Hans eldingar lyser upp heimen; jordi ser det og skjelv.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
Bergi brånar som voks for Herren, for Herren yver all jordi.
6 The heavens have declared his righteousness, and all the people have seen his glory.
Himmelen forkynner hans rettferd, og alle folki hans æra.
7 Let all that worship graven images be ashamed, who boast of their idols; worship him, all ye his angels.
Skjemde vert alle som dyrkar bilæte, som rosar seg av avgudar. Alle gudar tilbed honom.
8 Sion heard and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judea exulted, because of thy judgments, O Lord.
Sion høyrer det og gled seg, og Judas døtter fagnar seg for dine domar skuld, Herre.
9 For thou art Lord most high over all the earth; thou art greatly exalted above all gods.
For du, Herre, er den høgste yver heile jordi, du er høgt upphøgd yver alle gudar.
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil; the Lord preserves the souls of his saints; he shall deliver them from the hand of sinners.
De som elskar Herren, hata det vonde! Han tek vare på sjælerne åt sine trugne, frå handi til dei ugudlege frelsar han deim.
11 Light is sprung up for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Ljos er utsått for den rettferdige, og gleda for dei ærlege i hjarta.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks for a remembrance of his holiness.
Gled dykk, de rettferdige, i Herren! Syng lov for hans heilage namn!
