Psalms 81
1 For the end, a Psalm for Asaph, concerning the wine-presses. Rejoice ye in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.
[Dem Vorsänger, auf der Gittith. Von Asaph.] Jubelt Gott, unserer Stärke! jauchzet dem Gott Jakobs!
2 Take a psalm, and produce the timbrel, the pleasant psaltery with the harp.
Erhebet Gesang und lasset das Tamburin ertönen, die liebliche Laute samt der Harfe!
3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.
Stoßet am Neumonde in die Posaune, am Vollmonde zum Tage unseres Festes!
4 For [this] is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.
Denn eine Satzung für Israel ist es, eine Verordnung des Gottes Jakobs.
5 He made it [to be] a testimony in Joseph, when he came forth out of the land of Egypt: he heard a language which he understood not.
Er setzte es ein als ein Zeugnis in Joseph, als er auszog gegen das Land Ägypten, wo ich eine Sprache hörte, die ich nicht kannte.
6 He removed his back from burdens: his hands slaved in making the baskets.
Ich entzog der Last seine Schulter, seine Hände entgingen dem Tragkorbe.
7 Thou didst call upon me in trouble, and I delivered thee; I heard thee in the secret place of the storm: I proved thee at the water of Strife. (Pause)
In der Bedrängnis riefest du, und ich befreite dich; ich antwortete dir in des Donners Hülle; [Eig. Verborgenheit] ich prüfte dich an den Wassern von Meriba. (Sela)
8 Hear, my people, and I will speak to thee, O Israel; and I will testify to thee: if thou wilt hearken to me;
Höre, mein Volk, und ich will wider dich zeugen. O Israel, wenn du mir gehorchtest!
9 there shall be no new god in thee; neither shalt thou worship a strange god.
Es soll kein fremder Gott [El] unter dir sein, und du sollst dich nicht bücken vor einem Gott [El] des Auslandes.
10 For I am the Lord thy God, that brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Ich bin Jehova, dein Gott, der dich aus dem Lande Ägypten heraufgeführt hat; tue deinen Mund weit auf, und ich will ihn füllen.
11 But my people hearkened not to my voice; and Israel gave no heed to me.
Aber mein Volk hat nicht auf meine Stimme gehört, und Israel ist nicht willig gegen mich gewesen.
12 So I let them go after the ways of their own hearts: they will go on in their own ways.
Und ich gab sie dahin der Verstocktheit ihres Herzens; sie wandelten nach ihren Ratschlägen.
13 If my people had hearkened to me, if Israel had walked in my ways,
O daß mein Volk auf mich gehört, daß Israel in meinen Wegen gewandelt hätte!
14 I should have put down their enemies very quickly, and should have laid my hand upon those that afflicted them.
Bald würde ich ihre Feinde gebeugt und meine Hand gewendet haben gegen ihre Bedränger.
15 The Lord's enemies [should have] lied to him: but their time shall be for ever.
Die Hasser Jehovas würden sich ihm mit Schmeichelei unterworfen haben [S. die Anm. zu Ps. 18,44,] und ihre Zeit würde ewig gewesen sein;
16 And he fed them with the fat of wheat; and satisfied them with honey out of the rock.
Und mit dem Fette des Weizens würde er [And. l.: ich] es gespeist, und mit Honig aus dem Felsen würde ich dich gesättigt haben.
