< Psalms 62 >
1 For the end, a Psalm of David for Idithun. Shall not my soul be subjected to God? for of him is my salvation.
In finem, Pro Idithun, Psalmus David. Nonne Deo subiecta erit anima mea? ab ipso enim salutare meum.
2 For he is my God, and my saviour; my helper, I shall not be moved very much.
Nam et ipse Deus meus, et salutaris meus: susceptor meus, non movebor amplius.
3 How long will ye assault a man? ye are all slaughtering as with a bowed wall and a broken hedge.
Quousque irruitis in hominem? interficitis universi vos: tamquam parieti inclinato et maceriæ depulsæ.
4 They only took counsel to set at nought mine honour: I ran in thirst: with their mouth they blessed, but with their heart they cursed. (Pause)
Verumtamen pretium meum cogitaverunt repellere, cucurri in siti: ore suo benedicebant, et corde suo maledicebant.
5 Nevertheless do thou, my soul, be subjected to God; for of him [is] my patient hope.
Verumtamen Deo subiecta esto anima mea: quoniam ab ipso patientia mea.
6 For he [is] my God and my Saviour; my helper, I shall not be moved.
Quia ipse Deus meus, et salvator meus: adiutor meus, non emigrabo.
7 In God [is] my salvation and my glory: [he is] the God of my help, and my hope is in God.
In Deo salutare meum, et gloria mea: Deus auxilii mei, et spes mea in Deo est.
8 Hope in him, all ye congregation of the people; pour out your hearts before him, for God is our helper. (Pause)
Sperate in eo omnis congregatio populi, effundite coram illo corda vestra: Deus adiutor noster in æternum.
9 But the sons of men are vain; the sons of men are false, so as to be deceitful in the balances; they are all alike [formed] out of vanity.
Verumtamen vani filii hominum, mendaces filii hominum in stateris: ut decipiant ipsi de vanitate in idipsum.
10 Trust not in unrighteousness, and lust not after robberies: if wealth should flow in, set not your heart upon it.
Nolite sperare in iniquitate, et rapinas nolite concupiscere: divitiæ si affluant, nolite cor apponere.
11 God has spoken once, [and] I have heard these two things, that power is of God;
Semel locutus est Deus, duo hæc audivi, quia potestas Dei est,
12 and mercy is thine, O Lord; for thou wilt recompense every one according to his works.
et tibi Domine misericordia: quia tu reddes unicuique iuxta opera sua.
