< Psalms 54 >
1 For the end, among Hymns of instruction by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Lo, is not David hid with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy might.
Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me in thy might.
2 O God, hear my prayer; hearken to the words of my mouth.
Hear my prayer, O God. Give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me, and mighty men have sought my life: they have not set God before them. (Pause)
For strangers are risen up against me, and violent men have sought after my soul. They have not set God before them. (Selah)
4 For lo! God assists me; and the Lord is the helper of my soul.
Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is of those who uphold my soul.
5 He shall return evil to mine enemies; utterly destroy them in thy truth.
He will requite the evil to my enemies. Destroy thou them in thy truth.
6 I will willingly sacrifice to thee: I will give thanks to thy name, O Lord; for [it is] good.
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to thee. I will give thanks to thy name, O Jehovah, for it is good.
7 For thou hast delivered me out of all affliction, and mine eye has seen [my desire] upon mine enemies.
For he has delivered me out of all trouble, and my eye has seen it upon my enemies.
