Psalms 52

1 For the end, [a Psalm] of instruction by David, when Doec the Idumean came and told Saul, and said to him, David is gone to the house of Abimelech. Why dost thou, O mighty man, boast of iniquity in [thy] mischief? All the day

برای رهبر سرایندگان. قصیدۀ داوود دربارۀ زمانی که دوآغ ادومی نزد شائول رفت و او را خبر داد که: «داوود به خانۀ اخیملک رفته است.» ای جنگاور، چرا از ظلم خود فخر می‌کنی؟ آیا نمی‌دانی عدالت خدا همیشه پابرجاست؟

2 thy tongue has devised unrighteousness; like a sharpened razor thou hast wrought deceit.

ای حیله‌گر، توطئه می‌چینی که دیگران را نابود کنی؛ زبانت مانند تیغ، تیز و برّنده است.

3 Thou hast loved wickedness more than goodness; unrighteousness better than to speak righteousness. (Pause)

بدی را به نیکی ترجیح می‌دهی و دروغ را بیشتر از راستی دوست می‌داری.

4 Thou has loved all words of destruction, [and] a deceitful tongue.

ای فریبکار، تو دوست داری با سخنانت تباهی بار بیاوری.

5 Therefore may God destroy thee for ever, may he pluck thee up and utterly remove thee from [thy] dwelling, and thy root from the land of the living. (Pause)

بنابراین، خدا نیز تو را از خانه‌ات بیرون کشیده تو را به کلی نابود خواهد کرد و ریشه‌ات را از زمین زندگان خواهد کند.

6 And the righteous shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say,

نیکان این را دیده، خواهند ترسید و به تو خندیده، خواهند گفت:

7 Behold the man who made not God his help; but trusted in the abundance of his wealth, and strengthened himself in his vanity.

«ببینید، این همان مردی است که به خدا توکل نمی‌کرد، بلکه به ثروت هنگفت خود تکیه می‌نمود و برای حفظ و حراست از خود به ظلم متوسل می‌شد.»

8 But I am as a fruitful olive in the house of God: I have trusted in the mercy of God for ever, even for evermore.

اما من مانند درخت زیتونی هستم که در خانهٔ خدا سبز می‌شود؛ من تا ابد به محبت خدا توکل خواهم کرد.

9 I will give thanks to thee for ever, for thou hast done [it]: and I will wait on thy name; for [it is] good before the saints.

خدایا، به خاطر آنچه که کرده‌ای پیوسته از تو تشکر خواهم نمود و در حضور قوم تو اعلام خواهم کرد که تو نیکو هستی.
