< Psalms 30 >

1 For the end, a Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will exalt thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and not caused mine enemies to rejoice over me.
A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. [A Psalm] of David. I will extol thee, O Jehovah; for thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to thee, and thou didst heal me.
O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3 O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from Hades, thou hast delivered me from [among] them that go down to the pit. (Sheol h7585)
O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol h7585)
4 Sing to the Lord, ye his saints, and give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness.
Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial [name].
5 For anger is in his wrath, but life in his favour: weeping shall tarry for the evening, but joy shall be in the morning.
For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy [cometh] in the morning.
6 And I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
7 O Lord, in thy good pleasure thou didst add strength to my beauty: but thou didst turn away thy face, and I was troubled.
Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.
8 To thee, O Lord, will I cry; and to my God will I make supplication.
I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication:
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to destruction? Shall the dust give praise to thee? or shall it declare thy truth?
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10 The Lord heard, and had compassion upon me; the Lord is become my helper.
Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned my mourning into joy for me: thou hast rent off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 that my glory may sing praise to thee, and I may not be pierced [with sorrow]. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to thee for ever.
To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
