< Psalms 138 >

1 A Psalm for David, of Aggaeus and Zacharias. I will give thee thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; and I will sing psalms to thee before the angels; for thou hast heard all the words of my mouth.
A psalm of David. I will give you thanks with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praises to you.
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and give thanks to thy name, on account of thy mercy and thy truth; for thou hast magnified thy holy name above every thing.
I will bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your covenant faithfulness and for your trustworthiness. You have made your word and your name more important than anything else.
3 In whatsoever day I shall call upon thee, hear me speedily; thou shalt abundantly provide me with thy power in my soul.
On the day that I called you, you answered me; you made me bold and strengthened my soul.
4 Let all the kings of the earth, o Lord, give thanks unto thee; for they have heard all the words of thy mouth.
All the kings of the earth will give you thanks, Yahweh, for they will hear the words from your mouth.
5 And let them sing in the ways of the Lord; for great is the glory of the Lord.
Indeed, they will sing of the deeds of Yahweh, for great is the glory of Yahweh.
6 For the Lord is high, and [yet] regards the lowly; and he knows high things from afar off.
For though Yahweh is high, yet he cares for the lowly, but the proud he knows from far off.
7 Though I should walk in the midst of affliction, thou wilt quicken me; thou hast stretched forth thine hands against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand has saved me.
Though I walk in the middle of danger, you will preserve my life; you will reach out with your hand against the anger of my enemies, and your right hand will save me.
8 O Lord, thou shalt recompense [them] on my behalf: thy mercy, O Lord, [endures] for ever: overlook not the works of thine hands.
Yahweh is with me to the end; your covenant faithfulness, Yahweh, endures forever. Do not forsake the ones whom your hands have made.
