Proverbs 5
1 [My] son, attend to my wisdom, and apply thine ear to my words;
Filho meu, attende á minha sabedoria: á minha intelligencia inclina o teu ouvido;
2 that thou mayest keep good understanding, and the discretion of my lips gives thee a charge. Give no heed to a worthless woman;
Para que conserves os meus avisos e os teus beiços guardem o conhecimento.
3 for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases thy palate:
Porque os labios da estranha distillam favos de mel, e o seu palladar é mais macio do que o azeite.
4 but afterwards thou wilt find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword.
Porém o seu fim é amargoso como o absinthio, agudo como a espada de dois fios.
5 For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. (Sheol h7585)
Os seus pés descem á morte: os seus passos pegam no inferno. (Sheol h7585)
6 For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known.
Para que não ponderes a vereda da vida, são as suas carreiras variaveis, e não saberás d'ellas.
7 Now then, [my] son, hear me, and make not my words of none effect.
Agora, pois, filhos, dae-me ouvidos, e não vos desvieis das palavras da minha bocca.
8 Remove thy way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:
Alonga d'ella o teu caminho, e não chegues á porta da sua casa;
9 lest thou give away thy life to others, and thy substance to the merciless:
Para que não dês a outros a tua honra, nem os teus annos a crueis.
10 lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours come into the houses of strangers;
Para que não se fartem os estranhos do teu poder, e todos os teus afadigados trabalhos não entrem na casa do estrangeiro,
11 And thou repent at last, when the flesh of thy body is consumed,
E gemas no teu fim, consumindo-se a tua carne e o teu corpo.
12 and thou shalt say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs!
E digas: Como aborreci a correcção! e desprezou o meu coração a reprehensão!
13 I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I apply mine ear.
E não escutei a voz dos meus ensinadores, nem a meus mestres inclinei o meu ouvido!
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Quasi que em todo o mal me achei no meio da congregação e do ajuntamento.
15 Drink waters out of thine own vessels, and out of thine own springing wells.
Bebe agua da tua cisterna, e das correntes do teu poço.
16 Let not waters out of thy fountain be spilt by thee, but let thy waters go into thy streets.
Derramem-se por de fóra as tuas fontes, e pelas ruas os ribeiros d'aguas.
17 Let them be only thine own, and let no stranger partake with thee.
Sejam para ti só, e não para os estranhos comtigo.
18 Let thy fountain of water be [truly] thine own; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Seja bemdito o teu manancial, e alegra-te da mulher da tua mocidade.
19 Let [thy] loving hart and thy graceful colt company with thee, and let her be considered thine own, and be with thee at all times; for ravished with her love thou shalt be greatly increased.
Como serva amorosa, e gazella graciosa, os seus peitos te saciarão em todo o tempo: e pelo seu amor sejas attrahido perpetuamente.
20 Be not intimate with a strange woman, neither fold thyself in the arms of a woman not thine own.
E porque, filho meu, andarias attrahido pela estranha, e abraçarias o seio da estrangeira?
21 For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God, and he looks on all his paths.
Porque os caminhos do homem estão perante os olhos do Senhor, e elle pesa todas as suas carreiras.
22 Iniquities ensnare a man, and every one is bound in the chains of his own sins.
Quanto ao impio, as suas iniquidades o prenderão, e com as cordas do seu peccado será detido.
23 Such a man dies with the uninstructed; and he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, and has perished through folly.
Elle morrerá, porque sem correcção andou, e pelo excesso da sua loucura andará errado.
