< Proverbs 13 >
1 A wise son is obedient to his father: but a disobedient son will be destroyed.
Denggen ti masirib nga anak ti panangisuro ti amana, ngem ti mananglalais saanto a dumngeg iti panangtubngar.
2 A good [man] shall eat of the fruits of righteousness: but the lives of transgressors shall perish before their time.
Ragragsaken ti maysa a tao dagiti naimbag a banbanag manipud iti bunga ti ngiwatna, ngem ti paggugusto ti mangliliput ket kinaranggas.
3 He that keeps his own mouth keeps his own life: but he that is hasty with his lips shall bring terror upon himself.
Ti mangsalsaluad iti ngiwatna salsalaknibanna ti biagna, ngem ti sumanao daddadaelenna ti bagina.
4 Every slothful man desires, but the hands of the active are diligent.
Awan kadagiti tarigagay dagiti nasadut a tattao ti magun-dda, ngem magun-odto amin dagiti nagaget a tattao dagiti tarigagayda.
5 A righteous man hates an unjust word: but an ungodly man is ashamed, and will have no confidence.
Ti agar-aramid iti umno ket kagurgurana ti kinaulbod, ngem pagbalinen ti nadangkes a tao ti bagina a makarimon, ken ar-aramidenna ti nakababain.
Salsalakniban ti kinalinteg dagiti saan a biddut ti wagasda, ngem iyadayo ti kinadangkes dagiti agbasbasol.
7 There are [some] who, having nothing, enrich themselves: and there are [some] who bring themselves down in [the midst of] much wealth.
Adda maysa a tao a mangpabpabaknang iti bagina ngem awanan met a pulos, ken adda ti maysa a tao a mangmangted kadagiti amin a kukuana, ngem, pudpudno a baknang isuna.
8 A man's own wealth is the ransom of his life: but the poor endures not threatening.
Mabalin a subboten ti nabaknang a tao ti biagna babaen kadagiti sanikuana, ngem saanto a pulos a makaawat ti napanglaw a tao iti kasta a kita ti pangta.
9 The righteous always have light: but the light of the ungodly is quenched. Crafty souls go astray in sins: but just men pity, and are merciful.
Agragrag-o ti silaw ti agar-aramid iti umno, ngem maiddep ti pagsilawan ti nadangkes.
10 A bad man does evil with insolence: but they that are judges of themselves are wise.
Ti kinatangsit ket mangparnuay laeng iti riri, ngem adda kinasirib kadagiti dumdumngeg iti naimbag a pammagbaga.
11 Wealth gotten hastily with iniquity is diminished: but he that gathers for himself with godliness shall be increased. The righteous is merciful, and lends.
Maibus ti kinabaknang no kasta unay ti kinaparammag, ngem ti agur-urnong iti kuarta babaen iti panagtrabaho ti imana mapaaduna ti kuartana.
12 Better is he that begins to help heartily, than he that promises and leads [another] to hope: for a good desire is a tree of life.
No naitantan ti namnama, burakenna ti puso, ngem ti kalikagum a natungpal ket maiyarig a kayo ti biag.
13 He that slights a matter shall be slighted of it: but he that fears the commandment has health [of soul]. To a crafty son there shall be nothing good: but a wise servant shall have prosperous doings, and his way shall be directed aright.
Ti tao a mangum-umsi iti sursuro ket sagrapennanto met laeng daytoy, ngem magunggonaanto ti tao a mangraem iti bilin.
14 The law of the wise is fountain of life: but the man void of understanding shall die by a snare.
Ti sursuro ti masirib a tao ket maiyarig a burayok ti biag, iyadayunaka manipud kadagiti silo ni patay.
15 Sound discretion gives favour, and to know the law is the part of a sound understanding: but the ways of scorners tend to destruction.
Makagun-od iti pabor ti nasayaat a pannakaawat, ngem awan patinggana ti dalan ti mangliliput.
16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge: but the fool displays his own mischief.
Mangngeddeng dagiti manakem a tattao segun iti pannakaammoda, ngem ibutbutaktak ti maag ti kinamaagna.
17 A rash king shall fall into mischief: but a wise messenger shall deliver him.
Matnag iti riribuk ti mensahero a nadangkes, ngem mangiyeg iti kapia ti mensahero a napudno.
18 Instruction removes poverty and disgrace: but he that attends to reproofs shall be honoured.
Pumanglaw ken maibabainto ti saan a mangikankano iti panangdisiplina, ngem maidaydayawto ti makasursuro manipud iti pannakailintegna.
19 The desires of the godly gladden the soul, but the works of the ungodly are far from knowledge.
Ti natungpal a kalikagum ket nasam-it iti paggugusto, ngem kagurgura dagiti maag a tallikudan ti kinadakes.
20 If thou walkest with wise men thou shalt be wise: but he that walks with fools shall be known.
Makipagbiagka kadagiti masirib a tattao ket agbalinka a masirib, ngem dagiti kakaddua dagiti maag ket agsagaba iti kinaranggas.
21 Evil shall pursue sinners; but good shall overtake the righteous.
Kamkamaten ti didigra dagiti managbasol, ngem magunggonaan iti nasayaat dagiti mangar-aramid iti umno.
22 A good man shall inherit children's children; and the wealth of ungodly men is laid up for the just.
Ti nasayaat a tao mangibati iti tawiden dagiti appokona, ngem ti kinabaknang ti managbasol ket maidulin para kadagiti agar-aramid iti umno.
23 The righteous shall spend many years in wealth: but the unrighteous shall perish suddenly.
Ti saan a naarado a taltalon a kukua ti napanglaw ket mabalin a mangpaadda iti adu a taraon, ngem pukawen daytoy ti kinakillo.
24 He that spares the rod hates his son: but he that loves, carefully chastens [him].
Ti tao a saan a mangdisdisiplina iti anakna, kagurgurana ti anakna, ngem ti tao a mangay-ayat iti anakna ket disdisiplinaenna daytoy.
25 A just [man] eats and satisfies his soul: but the souls of the ungodly are in want.
Ti tao nga agar-aramid iti umno ket mangan agingga a mapennek, ngem ti tiyan ti nadangkes ket kanayon a mabisin.
