Numbers 22
1 And the children of Israel departed, and encamped on the west of Moab by Jordan toward Jericho.
| و بنی‌اسرائیل کوچ کرده، در عربات موآب به آنطرف اردن، در مقابل اریحااردو زدند. | ۱ |
2 And when Balac son of Sepphor saw all that Israel did to the Amorite,
| و چون بالاق بن صفور هر‌چه اسرائیل به اموریان کرده بودند دید، | ۲ |
3 then Moab feared the people exceedingly because they were many; and Moab was grieved before the face of the children of Israel.
| موآب ازقوم بسیار ترسید، زیرا که کثیر بودند. و موآب ازبنی‌اسرائیل مضطرب گردیدند. | ۳ |
4 And Moab said to the elders of Madiam, Now shall this assembly lick up all that are round about us, as a calf would lick up the green [herbs] of the field: —and Balac son of Sepphor was king of Moab at that time.
| و موآب به مشایخ مدیان گفتند: «الان این گروه هر‌چه به اطراف ما هست خواهند لیسید، به نوعی که گاوسبزه صحرا را می‌لیسد.» و در آن زمان بالاق بن صفور، ملک موآب بود. | ۴ |
5 And he sent ambassadors to Balaam the son of Beor, to Phathura, which is on a river of the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, a people is come out of Egypt, and behold it has covered the face of the earth, and it has encamped close to me.
| پس رسولان به فتور که برکنار وادی است، نزد بلعام بن بعور، به زمین پسران قوم او فرستاد تااو را طلبیده، بگویند: «اینک قومی از مصر بیرون آمده‌اند و هان روی زمین را مستور می‌سازند، ودر مقابل من مقیم می‌باشند. | ۵ |
6 And now come, curse me this people, for it is stronger than we; if we may be able to smite some of them, and I will cast them out of the land: for I know that whomsoever thou dost bless, they are blessed, and whomsoever thou dost curse, they are cursed.
| پس الان بیا و این قوم را برای من لعنت کن، زیرا که از من قوی ترند، شاید توانایی یابم تا بر ایشان غالب آییم، و ایشان را از زمین خود بیرون کنم، زیرا می‌دانم هر‌که راتو برکت دهی مبارک است و هر‌که را لعنت نمایی، ملعون است.» | ۶ |
7 And the elders of Moab went, and the elders of Madiam, and their divining [instruments were] in their hands; and they came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balac.
| پس مشایخ موآب و مشایخ مدیان، مزد فالگیری را به‌دست گرفته، روانه شدند، و نزدبلعام رسیده، سخنان بالاق را به وی گفتند. | ۷ |
8 And he said to them, Tarry here the night, and I will answer you the things which the Lord shall say to me; and the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.
| او به ایشان گفت: «این شب را در اینجا بمانید، تاچنانکه خداوند به من گوید، به شما باز گویم.» وسروران موآب نزد بلعام ماندند. | ۸ |
9 And God came to Balaam, and said to him, Who are these men with thee?
| و خدا نزد بلعام آمده، گفت: «این کسانی که نزد تو هستند، کیستند؟» | ۹ |
10 And Balaam said to God, Balac son of Sepphor, king of Moab, sent them to me, saying,
| بلعام به خدا گفت: «بالاق بن صفورملک موآب نزد من فرستاده است، | ۱۰ |
11 Behold, a people has come forth out of Egypt, and has covered the face of the land, and it has encamped near to me; and now come, curse it for me, if indeed I shall be able to smite it, and cast it out of the land.
| که اینک این قومی که از مصر بیرون آمده‌اند روی زمین راپوشانیده‌اند. الان آمده، ایشان را برای من لعنت کن شاید که توانایی یابم تا با ایشان جنگ نموده، ایشان را دور سازم.» | ۱۱ |
12 And God said to Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them, neither shalt thou curse the people; for they are blessed.
| خدا به بلعام گفت: «باایشان مرو و قوم را لعنت مکن زیرا مبارک هستند.» | ۱۲ |
13 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said to the princes of Balac, Depart quickly to your lord; God does not permit me to go with you.
| پس بلعام بامدادان برخاسته، به‌سروران بالاق گفت: «به زمین خود بروید، زیراخداوند مرا اجازت نمی دهد که با شما بیایم.» | ۱۳ |
14 And the princes of Moab rose, and came to Balac, and said, Balaam will not come with us.
| و سروران موآب برخاسته، نزد بالاق برگشته، گفتند که «بلعام از آمدن با ما انکار نمود.» | ۱۴ |
15 And Balac yet again sent more princes and more honourable than they.
| و بالاق بار دیگر سروران زیاده و بزرگتر ازآنان فرستاد. | ۱۵ |
16 And they came to Balaam, and they say to him, Thus says Balac the son of Sepphor: I beseech thee, delay not to come to me.
| و ایشان نزد بلعام آمده، و وی راگفتند: «بالاق بن صفور چنین می‌گوید: تمنا اینکه از آمدن نزد من انکار نکنی. | ۱۶ |
17 For I will greatly honour thee, and will do for thee whatsoever thou shalt say; come then, curse me this people.
| زیرا که البته تو رابسیار تکریم خواهم نمود، و هر‌آنچه به من بگویی بجا خواهم آورد، پس بیا و این قوم را برای من لعنت کن.» | ۱۷ |
18 And Balaam answered and said to the princes of Balac, If Balac would give me his house full of silver and gold, I shall not be able to go beyond the word of the Lord God, to make it little or great in my mind.
| بلعام در جواب نوکران بالاق گفت: اگر بالاق خانه خود را پر از نقره و طلا به من بخشد، نمی توانم از فرمان یهوه خدای خودتجاوز نموده، کم یا زیاد به عمل آورم. | ۱۸ |
19 And now do ye also tarry here this night, and I shall know what the Lord will yet say to me.
| پس الان شما نیز امشب در اینجا بمانید تا بدانم که خداوند به من دیگر‌چه خواهد گفت.» | ۱۹ |
20 And God came to Balaam by night, and said to him, If these men are come to call thee, rise and follow them; nevertheless the word which I shall speak to thee, it shalt thou do.
| و خدادر شب نزد بلعام آمده، وی را گفت: «اگر این مردمان برای طلبیدن تو بیایند برخاسته، همراه ایشان برو، اما کلامی را که من به تو گویم به همان عمل نما.» | ۲۰ |
21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
| پس بلعام بامدادان برخاسته، الاغ خود را بیاراست و همراه سروران موآب روانه شد. | ۲۱ |
22 And God was very angry because he went; and the angel of the Lord rose up to withstand him. Now he had mounted his ass, and his two servants were with him.
| و غضب خدا به‌سبب رفتن او افروخته شده، فرشته خداوند در راه به مقاومت وی ایستاد، و او بر الاغ خود سوار بود، و دو نوکرش همراهش بودند. | ۲۲ |
23 And when the ass saw the angel of God standing opposite in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand, then the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field; and [Balaam] smote the ass with his staff to direct her in the way.
| و الاغ، فرشته خداوند را باشمشیر برهنه به‌دستش، بر سر راه ایستاده دید. پس الاغ از راه به یک سو شده، به مزرعه‌ای رفت و بلعام الاغ را زد تا او را به راه برگرداند. | ۲۳ |
24 And the angel of the Lord stood in the avenues of the vines, a fence [being] on this side and a fence on that.
| پس فرشته خداوند در جای گود در میان تاکستان بایستاد، و به هر دو طرفش دیوار بود. | ۲۴ |
25 And when the ass saw the angel of God, she thrust herself against the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall, and he smote her again.
| و الاغ فرشته خداوند را دیده، خود را به دیوار چسبانید، و پای بلعام را به دیوار فشرد. پس او را بار دیگرزد. | ۲۵ |
26 And the angel of the Lord went farther, and came and stood in a narrow place where it was impossible to turn to the right or the left.
| و فرشته خداوند پیش رفته، در مکانی تنگ بایستاد، که جایی بجهت برگشتن به طرف راست یا چپ نبود. | ۲۶ |
27 And when the ass saw the angel of God, she lay down under Balaam; and Balaam was angry, and struck the ass with his staff.
| و چون الاغ، فرشته خداوند رادید، در زیر بلعام خوابید. و خشم بلعام افروخته شده، الاغ را به عصای خود زد. | ۲۷ |
28 And God opened the mouth of the ass, and she says to Balaam, What have I done to thee, that thou hast smitten me this third time?
| آنگاه خداونددهان الاغ را باز کرد که بلعام را گفت: به تو چه کرده‌ام که مرا این سه مرتبه زدی. | ۲۸ |
29 And Balaam said to the ass, Because thou hast mocked me; and if I [had] had a sword in my hand, I would now have killed thee.
| بلعام به الاغ گفت: «از این جهت که تو مرا استهزا نمودی! کاش که شمشیر در دست من می‌بود که الان تو رامی کشتم.» | ۲۹ |
30 And the ass says to Balaam, [Am] not I thine ass on which thou hast ridden since thy youth till this day? did I ever do thus to thee, utterly disregarding [thee]? and he said, No.
| الاغ به بلعام گفت: «آیا من الاغ تونیستم که از وقتی که مال تو شده‌ام تا امروز بر من سوار شده‌ای، آیا هرگز عادت می‌داشتم که به اینطور با تو رفتار نمایم؟» او گفت: «نی» | ۳۰ |
31 And God opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sees the angel of the Lord withstanding [him] in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand, and he stooped down and worshipped on his face.
| و خداوند چشمان بلعام را باز کرد تا فرشته خداوند را دید که با شمشیر برهنه در دستش، به‌سر راه ایستاده است پس خم شده، به روی درافتاد. | ۳۱ |
32 And the angel of God said to him, Why hast thou smitten thine ass this third time? and, behold, I came out to withstand thee, for thy way was not seemly before me; and when the ass saw me, she turned away from me this third time.
| و فرشته خداوند وی را گفت: «الاغ خود را این سه مرتبه چرا زدی؟ اینک من به مقاومت تو بیرون آمدم، زیرا که این سفر تو در نظرمن از روی تمرد است. | ۳۲ |
33 And if she had not turned out of the way, surely now, I should have slain thee, and should have saved her alive.
| و الاغ مرا دیده، این سه مرتبه از من کناره جست، و اگر از من کناره نمی جست یقین الان تو را می‌کشتم و او را زنده نگاه می‌داشتم.» | ۳۳ |
34 And Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, I have sinned, for I did not know that thou wert standing opposite in the way to meet [me]; and now if it shall not be pleasing to thee [for me to go on], I will return.
| بلعام به فرشته خداوند گفت: «گناه کردم زیرا ندانستم که تو به مقابل من در راه ایستاده‌ای. پس الان اگر در نظر تو ناپسند است برمی گردم.» | ۳۴ |
35 And the angel of the Lord said to Balaam, Go with the men: nevertheless the word which I shall speak to thee, that thou shalt take heed to speak. And Balaam went with the princes of Balac.
| فرشته خداوند به بلعام گفت: «همراه این اشخاص برو لیکن سخنی را که من به تو گویم، همان را فقط بگو». پس بلعام همراه سروران بالاق رفت. | ۳۵ |
36 And when Balac heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him, to a city of Moab, which is on the borders of Arnon, which is on the [extreme] part of the borders.
| و چون بالاق شنید که بلعام آمده است، به استقبال وی تا شهر موآب که برحد ارنون و براقصای حدود وی بود، بیرون آمد. | ۳۶ |
37 And Balac said to Balaam, Did I not send to thee to call thee? why hast thou not come to me? shall I not indeed be able to honour thee?
| و بالاق به بلعام گفت: «آیا برای طلبیدن تو نزد تو نفرستادم، پس چرا نزد من نیامدی، آیا حقیقت قادر نیستم که تو را به عزت رسانم؟» | ۳۷ |
38 And Balaam said to Balac, Behold, I am now come to thee: shall I be able to say anything? the word which God shall put into my mouth, that I shall speak.
| بلعام به بالاق گفت: «اینک نزد تو آمده‌ام، آیا الان هیچ قدرتی دارم که چیزی بگویم؟ آنچه خدا به دهانم می‌گذارد همان را خواهم گفت.» | ۳۸ |
39 And Balaam went with Balac, and they came to the cities of streets.
| پس بلعام همرا بالاق رفته، به قریت حصوت رسیدند. | ۳۹ |
40 And Balac offered sheep and calves, and sent to Balaam and to his princes who were with him.
| و بالاق گاوان وگوسفندان ذبح کرده، نزد بلعام و سرورانی که باوی بودند، فرستاد. | ۴۰ |
41 And it was morning; and Balac took Balaam, and brought him up to the pillar of Baal, and shewed him thence a part of the people.
| و بامدادان بالاق بلعام رابرداشته، او را به بلندیهای بعل آورد، تا از آنجااقصای قوم خود را ملاحظه کند. | ۴۱ |
