< Job 38 >
1 And after Elius had ceased from speaking, the Lord spoke to Job through the whirlwind and clouds, [saying],
Nígbà náà ní Olúwa dá Jobu lóhùn láti inú ìjì àjàyíká wá, ó sì wí pé,
2 Who is this that hides counsel from me, and confines words in [his] heart, and thinks to conceal [them] from me?
“Ta ni èyí tí ń fi ọ̀rọ̀ àìlóye láti fi ṣókùnkùn bo ìmọ̀ mi?
3 Gird thy loins like a man; and I will ask thee, and do thou answer me.
Di ẹ̀gbẹ́ ara rẹ ní àmùrè bí ọkùnrin nísinsin yìí, nítorí pé èmi yóò béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ kí o sì dá mi lóhùn.
4 Where wast thou when I founded the earth? tell me now, if thou hast knowledge,
“Níbo ni ìwọ wà nígbà tí mo fi ìpìlẹ̀ ayé sọlẹ̀? Wí bí ìwọ bá mòye.
5 who set the measures of it, if thou knowest? or who stretched a line upon it?
Ta ni ó fi ìwọ̀n rẹ lélẹ̀, dájú bí ìwọ bá mọ̀ ọ́n? Tàbí ta ni ó ta okùn wíwọ̀n sórí rẹ?
6 On what are its rings fastened? and who is he that laid the corner-stone upon it?
Lórí ibo ni a gbé kan ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀ mọ́, tàbí ta ni ó fi òkúta igun rẹ̀ lélẹ̀,
7 When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice.
nígbà náà àwọn ìràwọ̀ òwúrọ̀ jùmọ̀ kọrin pọ̀, tí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run hó ìhó ayọ̀?
8 And I shut up the sea with gates, when it rushed out, coming forth out its mother's womb.
“Tàbí ta ni ó fi ìlẹ̀kùn sé omi òkun mọ́, nígbà tí ó ya padà bí ẹni pé ó ti inú jáde wá.
9 And I made a cloud its clothing, and swathed it in mist.
Nígbà tí mo fi àwọsánmọ̀ ṣe aṣọ rẹ̀, tí mo sì fi òkùnkùn biribiri ṣe ọ̀já ìgbà inú rẹ̀.
10 And I set bounds to it, surrounding it with bars and gates.
Nígbà tí mo ti pàṣẹ ìpinnu mi fún un, tí mo sì ṣe bèbè àti ìlẹ̀kùn.
11 And I said to it, Hitherto shalt thou come, but thou shalt not go beyond, but thy waves shall be confined within thee.
Tí mo sì wí pé níhìn-ín ni ìwọ ó dé, kí o má sì rékọjá, níhìn-ín sì ni ìgbéraga rẹ yóò gbé dúró mọ?
12 Or did I order the morning light in thy time; and [did] the morning star [then first] see his appointed place;
“Ìwọ pàṣẹ fún òwúrọ̀ láti ìgbà ọjọ́ rẹ̀ wá, ìwọ sì mú ìlà-oòrùn mọ ipò rẹ̀,
13 to lay hold of the extremities of the earth, to cast out the ungodly out of it?
í ó lè di òpin ilẹ̀ ayé mú, ki a lè gbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn búburú kúrò nínú rẹ̀?
14 Or didst thou take clay of the ground, and form a living creature, and set it with the power of speech upon the earth?
Kí ó yí padà bí amọ̀ fún èdìdì amọ̀, kí gbogbo rẹ̀ kí ó sì fi ara rẹ̀ hàn bí ẹni pé nínú aṣọ ìgúnwà.
15 And hast thou removed light from the ungodly, and crushed the arm of the proud?
A sì fa ìmọ́lẹ̀ wọn sẹ́yìn kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn búburú, apá gíga ni a sì ṣẹ́.
16 Or hast thou gone to the source of the sea, and walked in the tracks of the deep?
“Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìsun òkun lọ rí bí? Ìwọ sì rìn lórí ìsàlẹ̀ ibú ńlá?
17 And do the gates of death open to thee for fear; and did the porters of hell quake when they saw thee? ()
A ha ṣílẹ̀kùn ikú sílẹ̀ fún ọ rí bí, ìwọ sì rí ìlẹ̀kùn òjìji òkú?
18 And hast thou been instructed in the breadth of the [whole earth] under heaven? tell me now, what is the extent of it?
Ìwọ mòye ìbú ayé bí? Sọ bí ìwọ bá mọ gbogbo èyí.
19 And in what kind of a land does the light dwell? and of what kind is the place of darkness?
“Ọ̀nà wo ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ ń gbé? Bí ó ṣe ti òkùnkùn, níbo ni ipò rẹ̀,
20 If thou couldest bring me to their [utmost] boundaries, and if also thou knowest their paths;
tí ìwọ í fi mú un lọ sí ibi àlá rẹ̀, tí ìwọ ó sì le mọ ipa ọ̀nà lọ sínú ilé rẹ̀?
21 I know then that thou wert born at that time, and the number of thy years is great.
Ìwọ mọ èyí, nítorí nígbà náà ni a bí ọ? Iye ọjọ́ rẹ sì pọ̀.
22 But hast thou gone to the treasures of snow? and hast thou seen the treasures of hail?
“Ìwọ ha wọ inú ìṣúra ìdì òjò lọ rí bí, ìwọ sì rí ilé ìṣúra yìnyín rí,
23 And is there a store [of them], for thee against the time of [thine] enemies, for the day of wars and battle?
tí mo ti fi pamọ́ de ìgbà ìyọnu, dé ọjọ́ ogun àti ìjà?
24 And whence proceeds the frost? or [whence] is the south wind dispersed over the [whole world] under heaven?
Ọ̀nà wo ni ó lọ sí ibi tí ìmọ́lẹ̀ fi ń la, tí afẹ́fẹ́ ìlà-oòrùn ń tàn káàkiri lórí ilẹ̀ ayé?
25 And who prepared a course for the violent rain, and a way for the thunders;
Ta ni ó la ipadò fún ẹ̀kún omi, àti ọ̀nà fún mọ̀nàmọ́ná àrá,
26 to rain upon the land where [there is] no man, the wilderness, where there is not a man in it; so as to feed the untrodden and uninhabited [land],
láti mú u rọ̀jò sórí ayé níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí, ní aginjù níbi tí ènìyàn kò sí;
27 and cause it to send forth a crop of green herbs?
láti mú ilẹ̀ tútù, ijù àti aláìro láti mú àṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀yọ ewéko rú jáde?
28 Who is the rain's father? and who has generated the drops of dew?
Òjò ha ní baba bí? Tàbí ta ni o bí ìkún ìṣe ìrì?
29 And out of whose womb comes the ice? and who has produced the frost in the sky,
Láti inú ta ni ìdì omi ti jáde wá? Ta ni ó bí ìrì dídì ọ̀run?
30 which descends like flowing water? who has terrified the face of the ungodly?
Nígbà tí omi di líle bí òkúta, nígbà tí ojú ibú ńlá sì dìpọ̀.
31 And dost thou understand the band of Pleias, and hast thou opened the barrier of Orion?
“Ìwọ ha le fi ọ̀já de àwọn ìràwọ̀ Pleiadesi dáradára? Tàbí ìwọ le tún di ìràwọ̀ Orioni?
32 Or wilt thou reveal Mazuroth in his season, and the evening star with his rays? Wilt thou guide them?
Ìwọ le mú àwọn àmì méjìlá ìràwọ̀ Masaroti jáde wá nígbà àkókò wọn? Tàbí ìwọ le ṣe amọ̀nà Beari pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀?
33 And knowest thou the changes of heaven, or the events which take place together under heaven?
Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ mọ ìlànà ọ̀run? Ìwọ le fi ìjọba Ọlọ́run lélẹ̀ lórí ayé?
34 And wilt thou call a cloud with thy voice, and will it obey thee with a violent shower of much rain?
“Ìwọ le gbé ohùn rẹ sókè dé àwọsánmọ̀ kí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi kí ó lè bò ọ́?
35 And wilt thou send lightnings, and they shall go? and shall they say to thee, What is [thy pleasure]?
Ìwọ le rán mọ̀nàmọ́ná kí wọn kí ó le lọ, ní ọ̀nà wọn kí wọn kí ó sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Àwa nìyí’?
36 And who has given to women skill in weaving, or knowledge of embroidery?
Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n pamọ́ sí odò ikùn tàbí tí ó fi òye sínú àyà?
37 And who is he that numbers the clouds in wisdom, and has bowed the heaven [down] to the earth?
Ta ni ó fi ọgbọ́n ka iye àwọsánmọ̀? Ta ni ó sì mú ìgò ọ̀run dà jáde,
38 For it is spread out as dusty earth, and I have cemented it as one hewn stone to another.
nígbà tí erùpẹ̀ di líle, àti ògúlùtu dìpọ̀?
39 And wilt thou hunt a prey for the lions? and satisfy the desires of the serpents?
“Ìwọ ha dẹ ọdẹ fún abo kìnnìún bí? Ìwọ ó sì tẹ ebi ẹgbọrọ kìnnìún lọ́rùn,
40 For they fear in their lairs, and lying in wait couch in the woods.
nígbà tí wọ́n bá mọ́lẹ̀ nínú ihò tí wọ́n sì ba ní ibùba de ohun ọdẹ?
41 And who has prepared food for the raven? for its young ones wander and cry to the Lord, in search of food.
Ta ni ó ń pèsè ohun jíjẹ fún ẹyẹ ìwò, nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ rẹ ń ké pe Ọlọ́run, tí wọ́n sì máa ń fò kiri nítorí àìní ohun jíjẹ?
