Jeremias 41
1 The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord (now Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the country of his dominion, were warring against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Juda, ) saying,
Tháng bảy, Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, cháu Ê-li-sa-ma, vốn dòng tôn thất, và làm một bật đại thần của vua, đem mười người với mình đến cùng Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, tại Mích-ba. Họ ăn bánh với nhau tại đó.
2 Thus has the Lord said; Go to Sedekias king of Juda, and thou shalt say to him, Thus has the Lord said, This city shall certainly be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it, and shall burn it with fire:
Ðoạn, Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, cùng mười người đi với mình đứng dậy lấy gươm đánh Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, cháu Sa-phan, và giết người, tức là người mà vua Ba-by-lôn lập làm tổng đốc trong đất như vậy.
3 and thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt certainly be taken, and shalt be given into his hands; and thine eyes shall see his eyes, and thou shalt enter into Babylon.
Ích-ma-ên cũng giết luôn mọi người Giu-đa đương ở với Ghê-đa-lia tại Mích-ba, và lính chiến người Canh-đê ở đó.
4 But hear the word of the Lord, O Sedekias king of Juda; Thus saith the Lord,
Ngày thứ hai sau khi người đã giết Ghê-đa-lia, chưa ai biết sự đó,
5 Thou shalt die in peace: and as they wept for thy fathers that reigned before thee, they shall weep also for thee, [saying], Ah lord! and they shall lament for thee down to the grave: for I have spoken the word, said the Lord.
thì có tám mươi người cạo râu, mặc áo rách, tự cắt mình, từ Si-chem, Si-lô, Sa-ma-ri mà đến, cầm những của lễ chay và nhũ hương trong tay mình đặng đem đến nhà Ðức Giê-hô-va.
6 And Jeremias spoke to king Sedekias all these words in Jerusalem.
Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, từ Mích-ba ra đón các người ấy, vừa đi vừa khóc. Khi đến cùng họ rồi, nói rằng: Hãy đến cùng Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam.
7 And the host of the king of Babylon warred against Jerusalem, and against the cities of Juda, and against Lachis, and against Azeca: for these strong cities were left among the cities of Juda.
Vừa khi những người đó đi đến giữa thành, Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, cùng những kẻ đi với mình, giết bọn họ và quăng thây xuống hố.
8 The word that came from the Lord to Jeremias, after king Sedekias had concluded a covenant with the people, to proclaim a release;
Nhưng trong bọn họ có mười người nói với Ích-ma-ên rằng: Chớ giết chúng tôi, vì chúng tôi có những đồ lương thực giấu trong đồng; lúa mì, tiểu mạch, dầu, và mật. Ích-ma-ên bèn thôi, không giết họ luôn với anh em họ.
9 That every one should set at liberty his servant, and every one has handmaid, the Hebrew man and Hebrew woman, that no man of Juda should be a bondman.
Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-gia, quăng những thây mình đã giết vào trong hố, ở kề bên Ghê-đa-lia, tức là hố vua A-sa đã đào, vì sợ Ba-ê-sa, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên. Ấy là cùng một cái hố đó mà Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, đã lấp đầy xác chết.
10 Then all the nobles, and all the people who had entered into the covenant, [engaging] to set free every one his man-servant, and every one his maid, turned,
Ðoạn, Ích-ma-ên bắt hết thảy dân sự còn sót lại tại Mích-ba đem đi làm phu tù; tức các con gái vua, và cả dân bỏ lại ở Mích-ba mà quan làm đầu thị vệ Nê-ba-xa-a-đan đã gia phổ cho Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam. Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, bắt những người ấy điệu đi làm phu tù, và đi qua nơi con cái Am-môn.
11 and gave them over to be men-servants and maid-servants.
Khi Giô-ha-nan, con trai Ca-rê-át, và các người đầu đảng theo mình, nghe mọi điều ác mà Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, đã làm,
12 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying,
thì nhóm mọi thủ hạ mình lại và khởi đi đánh Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, và đuổi kịp tại nơi gần hồ lớn Ga-ba-ôn.
13 Thus saith the Lord; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day wherein I took them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,
Có xảy ra, khi đội quân theo Ích-ma-ên ngó thấy Giô-ha-nan, con trai Ca-rê-át, và hết thảy các tướng đầu đảng ở với người thì thảy đều vui mừng.
14 When six years are accomplished, thou shalt set free thy brother the Hebrew, who shall be sold to thee: for he shall serve thee six years, and [then] thou shalt let him go free: but they hearkened not to me, and inclined not their ear.
Cả dân mà Ích-ma-ên đã điệu đi từ Mích-ba đều trở mặt về với Giô-ha-nan, con trai Ca-rê-át.
15 And this day they turned to do that which was right in my sight, to proclaim every one the release of his neighbour; and they had concluded a covenant before me, in the house whereon my name is called.
Còn Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, thì cùng tám người trốn khỏi Giô-ha-nan và đi đến nơi con cái Am-môn.
16 But ye turned and profaned my name, to bring back every one his servant, and every one his handmaid, whom ye had sent forth free [and] at their own disposal, to be to you men-servants and maid-servants.
Giô-ha-nan, con trai Ca-rê-át, cùng các tướng đầu đảng theo mình chiếm lấy đội binh mới vừa giải cứu khỏi tay Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-mia, khi Ích-ma-ên kéo đi từ Mích-ba sau lúc giết Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam. Hết thảy những lính chiến, đờn bà, trẻ con hoạn quan, Giô-ha-nan đều từ Ga-ba-ôn đem về.
17 Therefore thus said the Lord; Ye have not hearkened to me, to proclaim a release every one to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a release to you, to the sword, and to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will give you up to dispersion [among] all the kingdoms of the earth.
Họ khỡi đi và đỗ tại trạm Kim-ham, gần Bết-lê-hem, đặng rút qua Ê-díp-tô,
18 And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, who have not kept my covenant, which they made before me, the calf which they prepared to sacrifice with it,
xa người Canh-đê; vì sợ người Canh-đê, bởi cớ Ích-ma-ên, con trai Nê-tha-nia, giết Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, là người mà vua Ba-by-lôn đã lập làm tổng đốc trong đất.
19 the princes of Juda, and the men in power, and the priests, and the people;
20 I will even give them to their enemies, and their carcases shall be food for the birds of the sky and for the wild beasts of the earth.
21 And I will give Sedekias king of Judea, and their princes, into the hands of their enemies, and the host of the king of Babylon [shall come upon] them that run away from them.
22 Behold, I [will] give command, saith the Lord, and will bring them back to this land; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire, and the cities of Juda; and I will make them desolate without inhabitants.
