Jeremias 13
1 Thus saith the Lord, Go and procure for thyself a linen girdle, and put it about thy loins, and let it not be put in water.
So hat Jehova zu mir gesprochen: Gehe und kaufe dir einen leinenen Gürtel und lege ihn um deine Lenden; aber ins Wasser sollst du ihn nicht bringen.
2 So I procured the girdle according to the word of the Lord, and put it about my loins.
Und ich kaufte den Gürtel, nach dem Worte Jehovas, und legte ihn um meine Lenden.
3 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Und das Wort Jehovas geschah zum zweiten Male zu mir also:
4 Take the girdle that is upon thy loins, and arise, and go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
Nimm den Gürtel, den du gekauft hast, der um deine Lenden ist, und mache dich auf, gehe an den Euphrat und verbirg ihn daselbst in einer Felsenspalte.
5 So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.
Da ging ich hin und verbarg ihn am Euphrat, wie Jehova mir geboten hatte.
6 And it came to pass after many days, that the Lord said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there.
Und es geschah am Ende vieler Tage, da sprach Jehova zu mir: Mache dich auf, gehe an den Euphrat und hole von dort den Gürtel, den ich dir geboten habe daselbst zu verbergen.
7 So I went to the river Euphrates, and dug, and took the girdle out of the place where I [had] buried it: and, behold, it was rotten, utterly good for nothing.
Und ich ging an den Euphrat und grub, und nahm den Gürtel von dem Orte, wo ich ihn verborgen hatte; und siehe, der Gürtel war verdorben, taugte zu gar nichts mehr. -
8 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord,
Und das Wort Jehovas geschah zu mir also:
9 Thus will I mar the pride of Juda, and the pride of Jerusalem;
So spricht Jehova: Also werde ich verderben die Hoffart Judas und die große Hoffart Jerusalems.
10 [even] this great pride [of the men] that will not hearken to my words, and have gone after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them: and they shall be as this girdle, which can be used for nothing.
Dieses böse Volk, das sich weigert meine Worte zu hören, das da wandelt in dem Starrsinn seines Herzens, und anderen Göttern nachgeht, um ihnen zu dienen und sich vor ihnen niederzubeugen: Es soll werden wie dieser Gürtel, der zu gar nichts taugt.
11 For as a girdle cleaves about the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave to myself the house of Israel, and the whole house of Juda; that they might be to me a famous people, and a praise, and a glory: but they did not hearken to me.
Denn gleichwie der Gürtel sich an die Lenden eines Mannes anschließt, so habe ich das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda an mich geschlossen, spricht Jehova, damit sie mir zum Volk und zum Namen und zum Ruhm und zum Schmuck seien; aber sie haben nicht gehört.
12 And thou shalt say to this people, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and it shall come to pass, if they shall say to thee, Shall we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine? that thou shalt say to them,
Und sprich dieses Wort zu ihnen: So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Jeder Krug wird mit Wein gefüllt. Und wenn sie zu dir sagen: Wissen wir nicht sehr wohl, daß jeder Krug mit Wein gefüllt wird?
13 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I [will] fill the inhabitants of this land, and their kings the sons of David that sit upon their throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and Juda and all the dwellers in Jerusalem, with strong drink.
so sprich zu ihnen: Also spricht Jehova: Siehe, ich werde alle Bewohner dieses Landes, und die Könige, die auf dem Throne Davids sitzen [Eig. die dem David [od. von David] auf seinem Throne sitzen, ] und die Priester und die Propheten und alle Bewohner von Jerusalem mit Trunkenheit erfüllen.
14 And I will scatter them a man and his brother, and their fathers and their sons together: I will not have compassion, saith the Lord, and I will not spare, neither will I pity [to save them] from destruction.
Und ich werde sie zerschmettern einen gegen den anderen, die Väter und die Kinder allzumal, spricht Jehova; ich werde nicht Mitleid haben, noch schonen, noch mich erbarmen, daß ich sie nicht verderbe.
15 Hear ye, and give ear, and be not proud: for the Lord has spoken.
Höret und nehmet zu Ohren, überhebet euch nicht! denn Jehova hat geredet.
16 Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and ye shall wait for light, and behold the shadow of death, and they shall be brought into darkness.
Gebet Jehova, eurem Gott, Ehre, bevor er finster macht, und bevor eure Füße sich an Bergen der Dämmerung stoßen, und ihr auf Licht wartet, und er es in Todesschatten verwandelt und zur Dunkelheit macht.
17 But if ye will not hearken, your soul shall weep in secret because of pride, and your eyes shall pour down tears, because the Lord's flock is sorely bruised.
Wenn ihr aber nicht höret, so wird meine Seele im Verborgenen weinen wegen eures Hochmuts; und tränen wird mein Auge und von Tränen rinnen, weil [O. daß] die Herde Jehovas gefangen weggeführt ist.
18 Say ye to the king and the princes, Humble yourselves, and sit down; for your crown of glory is removed from your head.
Sprich zu dem König und zu der Königin: Setzet euch tief herunter; denn von euren Häuptern ist herabgesunken [Eig. denn herabgesunken ist, was euch zu Häupten war] die Krone eurer Herrlichkeit.
19 The cities toward the south were shut, and there was none to open [them]: Juda is removed [into captivity, ]they have suffered a complete removal.
Die Städte des Südens [Das hebr. Wort bezeichnet stets den Süden Palästinas] sind verschlossen, und niemand öffnet; Juda ist weggeführt insgesamt, ist gänzlich weggeführt.
20 Lift up thine eyes, O Jerusalem, and behold them that come from the north; where is the flock that was given thee, the sheep of thy glory?
Hebet eure Augen auf und sehet die von Norden Kommenden! Wo ist die Herde, die dir gegeben war, deine herrliche Herde?
21 What wilt thou say when they shall visit thee, for thou didst teach them lessons for rule against thyself; shall not pangs seize thee as a woman in travail?
Was willst du sagen, wenn er die zum Haupte über dich bestellt, welche du als Vertraute an dich gewöhnt hast [And. üb.: sagen, wenn er dich heimsuchen wird, da du sie doch daran gewöhnt hast, als Fürsten über dich zu herrschen?] Werden nicht Wehen dich ergreifen, einer Gebärenden gleich?
22 And if thou shouldest say in thine heart, Wherefore have these things happened to me? Because of the abundance of thine iniquity have thy skirts been discovered, that thine heels might be exposed.
Und wenn du in deinem Herzen sprichst: Warum ist mir dieses begegnet? Um der Größe deiner Ungerechtigkeit [O. Missetat, Schuld] willen sind deine Säume [O. Schleppen] aufgedeckt und haben deine Fersen Gewalt gelitten. -
23 If the Ethiopian shall change his skin, or the leopardess her spots, then shall ye be able to do good, having learnt evil.
Kann ein Mohr [Eig. ein Äthiopier] seine Haut wandeln, ein Pardel seine Flecken? dann könntet auch ihr Gutes tun, die ihr an Bösestun gewöhnt seid.
24 So I scattered them as sticks carried by the wind into the wilderness.
Darum werde ich sie zerstreuen wie Stoppeln, welche durch den Wind der Wüste dahinfahren.
25 Thus is thy lot, and the reward of your disobedience to me, saith the Lord; as thou didst forget me, and trust in lies,
Das ist dein Los, dein von mir zugemessenes Teil, spricht Jehova, weil du meiner vergessen und auf Lüge vertraut hast.
26 I also will expose thy skirts upon thy face, and thy shame shall be seen;
Und so werde auch ich deine Säume [O. Schleppen] aufstreifen über dein Angesicht, daß deine Schande gesehen werde.
27 thine adultery also, and thy neighing, and the looseness of thy fornication: on the hills and in the fields I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, for thou hast not been purified so as to follow me; how long yet [shall it be]?
Dein Ehebrechen und dein Wiehern, die Schandtat [O. das Laster] deiner Hurerei auf den Hügeln im Felde: deine Greuel habe ich gesehen. Wehe dir, Jerusalem! Du wirst nicht rein werden-wie lange wirds noch währen?
