Esias 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith God.
Cieszcie, cieszcie lud mój! mówi Bóg wasz.
2 Speak, ye priests, to the heart of Jerusalem; comfort her, for her humiliation is accomplished, her sin is put away: for she has received of the Lord's hand double [the amount of] her sins.
Mówcie do serca Jeruzalemu: ogłaszajcie mu, że się już dopełnił czas postanowiony jego, że jest odpuszczona nieprawość jego, i że wziął z ręki Pańskiej w dwójnasób za wszystkie grzechy swoje.
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight the paths of our God.
Głos wołającego na puszczy: Gotujcie drogę Pańską, prostą czyńcie na pustyni ścieszkę Boga naszego.
4 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low: and all the crooked [ways] shall become straight, and the rough [places] plains.
Każda dolina niech podniesiona będzie, a każda góra i pagórek niech poniżony będzie; co jest krzywego, niech się wyprostuje, a miejsca nierówne niech będą równiną.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall appear, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God: for the Lord has spoken [it].
Bo się objawi chwała Pańska, a ujrzy wszelkie ciało społem, iż usta Pańskie mówiły.
6 The voice of one saying, Cry; and I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass:
Głos mówiącego: Wołaj. I rzekł: Cóż mam wołać? To: Wszelkie ciało jest trawa, a wszystka zacność jego jako kwiat polny.
Trawa usycha, kwiat opada; skoro wiatr Pański powionie nań; zaprawdęć ludzie są tą trawą.
8 The grass withers, and the flower fades: but the word of our God abides for ever.
Trawa usycha, kwiat opada; ale słowo Boga naszego trwa na wieki.
9 O thou that bringest glad tidings to Zion, go up on the high mountain; lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest glad tidings to Jerusalem; lift it up, fear not; say unto the cities of Juda, Behold your God!
Wstąp sobie na górę wysoką, Syonie! który opowiadasz rzeczy ucieszne. Podnieś mocno głos twój, Jeruzalemie! które opowiadasz rzeczy pocieszne; podnieś, nie bój się, rzecz miastom Judzkim: Oto Bóg wasz.
10 Behold the Lord! The Lord is coming with strength, and [his] arm is with power: behold, his reward is with him, and [his] work before him.
Oto panujący Pan przyjdzie przeciwko mocnemu, a ramię jego panować będzie nad nim; oto zapłata jego z nim, a dzieło jego przed nim.
11 He shall tend his flock as a shepherd, and he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and shall soothe them that are with young.
Jako pasterz trzodę swoję paść będzie; do naręcza swego zgromadzi baranki, i na łonie swem piastować je będzie, a kotne zwolna poprowadzi.
12 Who has measured the water in his hand, and the heaven with a span, and all the earth in a handful? Who has weighed the mountains in scales, and the forests in a balance?
Kto zmierzył wody garścią swoją, a niebiosa piędzią rozmierzył? a kto proch ziemi miarą zmierzył? kto zważył na wadze góry, a pagórki na szalach?
13 Who has known the mind of the Lord? and who has been his counsellor, to instruct him?
Któż doścignął ducha Pańskiego, a kto radcą jego był, żeby mu oznajmił?
14 Or with whom has he taken counsel, and he has instructed him? or who has taught him judgment, or who has taught him the way of understanding;
Z kim wszedł w radę, żeby mu rozumu przydał, a nauczył go ścieżek sądu? Kto go nauczył umiejętności, a drogę wszelakiej roztropności ukazał mu?
15 since all the nations are counted as a drop from a bucket, and as the turning of a balance, [and] shall be counted as spittle?
Oto narody są jako kropla z wiadra, a jako proszek na szalach poczytane są; wyspy jako najmniejszą rzecz porywa.
16 And Libanus is not enough to burn, nor all beasts enough for a whole-burnt offering:
I Liban nie wystarczyłby ku wznieceniu ognia, i zwierzęta jego nie wystarczyłyby na całopalenie.
17 and all the nations are as nothing, and counted as nothing.
Wszystkie narody są jako nic przed nim; za nic i za marność poczytane są u niego.
18 To whom have ye compared the Lord? and with what likeness have ye compared him?
Komuż tedy podobnym uczynicie Boga? A jakie podobieństwo przyrównacie mu?
19 Has not the artificer made an image, or the goldsmith having melted gold, gilt it over, [and] made it a similitude?
Rzemieślnik uleje bałwana a złotnik złotem go powlecze, i łańcuszki srebrne do niego odleje.
20 For the artificer chooses out a wood that will not rot, and will wisely enquire how he shall set up his image, and [that so] that it should not be moved.
A ten, który dla ubóstwa nie ma co ofiarować, obiera drzewo, któreby nie próchniało, i rzemieślnika umiejętnego sobie szuka, aby wygotował bałwana rytego, któryby się nie poruszył.
21 Will ye not know? will ye not hear? has it not been told you of old? Have ye not known the foundations of the earth?
Izali nie wiecie? Izali nie słyszycie? Izali się wam nie opowiada od początku? Izali nie zrozumiewacie od założenia gruntów ziemi?
22 [It is] he that comprehends the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants in it are as grasshoppers; he that set up the heaven as a chamber, and stretched [it] out as a tent to dwell in:
Ten, który siedzi nad okręgiem ziemi, której obywatele są jako szarańcza; ten, który rozpostarł niebiosa jako cienkie płótno, a rozciągnął je, jako namiot ku mieszkaniu:
23 he that appoints princes to rule as nothing, and has made the earth as nothing.
Tenci książąt w niwecz obraca, sędziów ziemskich jako nic rozprasza.
24 For they shall not plant, neither shall they sow, neither shall their root be fixed in the ground: he has blown upon them, and they are withered, and a storm shall carry them away like sticks.
Że nie bywają szczepieni ani wsiani, ani się też wkorzeni w ziemi pień ich; i jako jedno powienie na nich, wnet usychają, a wicher jako źdźbło unosi ich.
25 Now then to whom have ye compared me, that I may be exalted? saith the Holy One.
Komuż mię tedy przyrównacie, abym mu był podobny? mówi Święty.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see, who has displayed all these things? [even] he that brings forth his host by number: he shall call them all by name by [means of his] great glory, and by the power of his might: nothing has escaped thee.
Podnieście ku górze oczy wasze, a obaczcie! Kto to stworzył? kto wywiódł w poczcie wojsko ich, a to wszystko z imienia przyzywa, według wielkości siły, i wielkiej mocy, tak, że ani jedno z nich nie zginie?
27 For say not thou, O Jacob, and why hast thou spoken, Israel, [saying], My way is hid from God, and my God has taken away [my] judgement, and has departed?
Przeczże tedy powiadasz, Jakóbie! przeczże tak mówisz Izraelu: Skryta jest droga moja przed Panem, a sprawa moja przed Boga mego nie przychodzi?
28 And now, hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? the eternal God, the God that formed the ends of the earth, shall not hunger, nor be weary, and there is no searching of his understanding.
Izali nie wiesz? izaliś nie słyszał, że Bóg wieczny Pan, który stworzył granice ziemi, nie ustanie, ani się spracuje, i że nie może być dościgniona mądrość jego?
29 He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to them that are not suffering.
Który dodaje spracowanemu siły, a tego, który nie ma żadnej siły, moc rozmnaża.
30 For the young [men] shall hunger, and the youths shall be weary, and the choice [men] shall be powerless:
Młódź ustaje i omdlewa, a młodzieńcy w młodości upadają:
31 but they that wait on God shall renew [their] strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not hunger.
Ale którzy oczekują Pana, nabywają nowej siły; podnoszą się piórami jako orły, bieżą a nie spracują się, chodzą a nie ustawają.
