Esias 1
1 The vision which Esaias the son of Amos saw, which he saw against Juda, and against Jerusalem, in the reign of Ozias, and Joatham, and Achaz, and Ezekias, who reigned over Judea.
Visión que Isaías, hijo de Amós, tuvo acerca de Judá y Jerusalén en los días de Ocías, Joatán, Acaz y Ezequías, reyes de Judá.
2 Hear, O heaven, and hearken, O earth: for the Lord has spoken, [saying], I have begotten and reared up children, but they have rebelled against me.
Oíd, cielos, y tú, tierra, escucha; porque habla Yahvé: “He criado hijos y los he engrandecido, mas ellos se han rebelado contra Mí.
3 The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel does not know me, and the people has not regarded me.
El buey conoce al que lo posee, y el asno el pesebre de su amo; pero Israel no (me) conoce; mi pueblo no tiene inteligencia.”
4 Ah sinful nation, a people full of sins, an evil seed, lawless children: ye have forsaken the Lord, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
¡Ay de ti, nación pecadora, pueblo cargado de culpa, raza de malvados, hijos corrompidos! Han abandonado a Yahvé, han despreciado al Santo de Israel, se han vuelto atrás.
5 Why should ye be smitten [any] more, transgressing more and more? the whole head is pained, and the whole heart sad.
¿De qué sirve daros golpes, si seguís rebelándoos? La cabeza toda está enferma, y todo el corazón doliente.
6 From the feet to the head, there is no soundness in them; neither wound, nor bruise, nor festering ulcer [are healed]: it is not possible to apply a plaister, nor oil, nor bandages.
Desde la planta del pie hasta la cabeza, no queda en él nada sano; hay solo heridas, contusiones y llagas inflamadas, que no han sido cerradas, ni vendadas, ni suavizadas con aceite.
7 Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is made desolate, overthrown by strange nations.
Vuestra tierra es un desierto; vuestras ciudades han sido quemadas, a vuestra vista los extranjeros devoran vuestro suelo, que está desolado como si fuese destruido por extraños.
8 The daughter of Sion shall be deserted as a tent in a vineyard, and as a storehouse of fruits in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
Y la hija de Sión queda como cabaña de viña, como choza de melonar, como ciudad sitiada.
9 And if the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been made like Gomorrha.
Si Yahvé de los ejércitos no nos hubiera dejado un pequeño resto, seríamos como Sodoma y semejantes a Gomorra.
10 Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodoma; attend to the law of God, thou people of Gomorrha.
¡Oíd la palabra de Yahvé, príncipes de Sodoma! ¡Escucha la ley de nuestro Dios, oh pueblo de Gomorra!
11 Of what [value] to me is the abundance of your sacrifices? saith the Lord: I am full of whole-burnt-offerings of rams; and I delight not in the fat of lambs, and the blood of bulls and goats:
¿De qué me sirve la multitud de vuestros sacrificios? dice Yahvé. Harto estoy de los holocaustos de carneros y del sebo de animales cebados; no me agrada la sangre de toros, ni la de corderos y machos cabríos.
12 neither shall ye come [with these] to appear before me; for who has required these things at your hands? Ye shall no more tread my court.
¡Y venís a presentaros delante de Mí! ¿Quién os ha pedido que holléis mis atrios?
13 Though ye bring fine flour, [it is] vain; incense is an abomination to me; I cannot bear your new moons, and your sabbaths, and the great day;
No traigáis más vanas ofrendas; abominable es para Mí el incienso; no aguanto más las neomenias ni los sábados, ni las asambleas solemnes; son asambleas solemnes con crimen.
14 [your] fasting, and rest from work, your new moons also, and your feasts my soul hates: ye have become loathsome to me; I will no more pardon your sins.
Mi alma aborrece vuestras neomenias y vuestras fiestas; me son una carga, cansado estoy de soportarlas.
15 When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn away mine eyes from you: and though ye make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.
Cuando extendéis vuestras manos, cierro ante vosotros mis ojos, y cuando multiplicáis las oraciones, no escucho; vuestras manos están manchadas de sangre.
16 Wash you, be clean; remove your iniquities from your souls before mine eyes; cease from your iniquities;
Lavaos, purificaos; quitad de ante mis ojos la maldad de vuestras obras; cesad de obrar mal.
17 learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow.
Aprended a hacer el bien, buscad lo justo, poned coto al opresor, haced justicia al huérfano, defended la causa de la viuda.
18 And come, let us reason together, saith the Lord: and though your sins be as purple, I will make them white as snow; and though they be as scarlet, I will make [them] white as wool.
Venid, discutamos juntos, dice Yahvé. Aunque vuestros pecados fuesen como la grana, quedarán blancos como la nieve. Aunque fuesen rojos como el carmesí, vendrán a ser como lana.
19 And if ye be willing, and hearken to me, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Si queréis y si me escucháis, comeréis de lo mejor de la tierra.
20 but if ye be not willing, nor hearken to me, a sword shall devour you: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this.
Pero si no queréis y os rebeláis, seréis devorados por la espada; porque la boca de Yahvé ha hablado.
21 How has the faithful city Sion, [once] full of judgment, become a harlot! wherein righteousness lodged, but now murderers.
¡Cómo se ha convertido en prostituta la ciudad fiel! Llena estaba de justicia, la rectitud moraba en ella; pero ahora es (ciudad) de homicidas.
22 Your silver is worthless, thy wine merchants mix the wine with water.
Tu plata se ha tornado escoria; tu vino fue adulterado con agua;
23 Thy princes are rebellious, companions of thieves, loving bribes, seeking after rewards; not pleading for orphans, and not heeding the cause of widows.
tus príncipes son unos obstinados y compañeros de ladrones; todos aman el soborno y van tras los presentes; no hacen justicia al huérfano, ni llega a ellos la causa de la viuda.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, Woe to the mighty [men] of Israel; for my wrath shall not cease against mine adversaries, and I will execute judgment on mine enemies.
Por esto dice el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Fuerte de Israel: “Voy a tomar satisfacción de mis adversarios y venganza de mis enemigos, quitaré de ti todo el metal impuro.
25 And I will bring my hand upon thee, and purge thee completely, and I will destroy the rebellious, and will take away from thee all transgressors.
Volveré mi mano sobre ti, y limpiaré como con lejía tus escorias,
26 And I will establish thy judges as before, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: and afterward thou shalt be called the city of righteousness, the faithful mother-city of Sion.
Restituiré tus jueces como fueron al principio, y tus consejeros como eran antes; después de lo cual serás llamada ciudad de justicia, ciudad fiel.”
27 For her captives shall be saved with judgment, and with mercy.
Sión será redimida con justicia, y sus convertidos, con equidad.
28 And the transgressors and the sinners shall be crushed together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be utterly consumed.
Los transgresores y los pecadores serán quebrantados juntamente, y anonadados los que abandonan a Yahvé.
29 For they shall be ashamed of their idols, which they delighted in, and they are made ashamed of the gardens which they coveted.
Pues os avergonzareis de las encinas que habéis amado, y os abochornaréis por los jardines que habéis escogido.
30 For they shall be as a turpentine tree that has cast its leaves, and as a garden that has no water.
Seréis como encina cuya hoja se marchita, y como huerto sin agua.
31 And their strength shall be as a thread of tow, and their works as sparks, and the transgressors and the sinners shall be burnt up together, and there shall be none to quench [them].
Será el fuerte como estopa, y su obra cual chispa; arderán los dos juntos, y no habrá quien apague el fuego.
