Genesis 37
1 And Jacob dwelt in the land where his father sojourned, in the land of Chanaan.

2 And these are the generations of Jacob. And Joseph was seventeen years old, feeding the sheep of his father with his brethren, being young; with the sons of Balla, and with the sons of Zelpha, the wives of his father; and Joseph brought to Israel their father their evil reproach.
Esiae nye Yakob ƒe dzidzimeviwo ŋutinya. Fifia Yakob ƒe vi Yosef xɔ ƒe wuiadre. Eya kple fofoviawo, ame siwo nye fofoa srɔ̃wo Bilha kple Zilpa ƒe viwo ƒe dɔe nye be woakpɔ wo fofo ƒe lãwo dzi. Yosef gblɔa nu madzemadze siwo nɔviawo wɔna la na wo fofo.
3 And Jacob loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was to him the son of old age; and he made for him a coat of many colours.
Israel lɔ̃ Yosef wu via bubuawo, elabena wodzi Yosef nɛ esime wònye amegãɖeɖi. Ale gbe ɖeka Yakob tɔ awu ʋlaya nyui aɖe nɛ.
4 And his brethren having seen that his father loved him more than all his sons, hated him, and could not speak anything peaceable to him.
Yosef nɔviwo de dzesi lɔlɔ̃ tɔxɛ si wo fofo tsɔ nɛ la, eya ta wolé fui, eye womeƒoa nu nɛ kple nɔvilɔlɔ̃ ƒe gbe o.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and reported it to his brethren.
Gbe ɖeka la, Yosef ku drɔ̃e, eye wòlĩi na nɔviawo. Nu sia gadzi nɔviawo ƒe fuléle ɖe edzi!
6 And he said to them, Hear this dream which I have dreamed.
Egblɔ be, “Miɖo to miase nye drɔ̃e la ɖa.
7 I thought ye were binding sheaves in the middle of the field, and my sheaf stood up and was erected, and your sheaves turned round, and did obeisance to my sheaf.
Míeyi ɖanɔ mɔlu blam le gbedzi; tete nye mɔlu babla tsi tsitre, eye mia tɔwo katã va ƒo xlãe, eye wode ta agu nɛ.”
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us, or shalt thou indeed be lord over us? And they hated him still more for his dreams and for his words.
Nɔviawo gblɔ nɛ fewuɖutɔe be, “Ekema ɖe nèdi be yeazu fia ɖe mía dzia?” Ale wogalé fui ɖe edzi wu le eƒe drɔ̃e la kple eƒe nyawo ta.
9 And he dreamed another dream, and related it to his father, and to his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed another dream: as it were the sun, and the moon, and the eleven stars did me reverence.
Yosef gaku drɔ̃e bubu, eye wògalĩi na nɔviawo be, “Mise nye drɔ̃e si megaku la ɖa. Ɣe, ɣleti kple ɣletivi wuiɖekɛ de ta agu nam!”
10 And his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream which thou hast dreamed? shall indeed both I and thy mother and thy brethren come and bow before thee to the earth?
Azɔ ya la, elĩ drɔ̃e la na fofoa kple nɔviawo siaa, ke fofoa ka mo nɛ hebiae be, “Drɔ̃e ka tɔgbie nye esia? Ɖe nye kple dawò kple nɔviwòwo míava de ta agu na wò gbe ɖekaa?”
11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
Nɔviawo ʋã ŋui ɖe edzi wu, gake fofoa ya de ŋugble le nya la ŋuti.
12 And his brethren went to feed the sheep of their father to Sychem.
Gbe ɖaka la, Yosef nɔviwo kplɔ wo fofo ƒe alẽwo yi gbedzi le Sekem.
13 And Israel said to Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed their flock in Sychem? Come, I will send thee to them; and he said to him, Behold, I [am here].
Israel gblɔ na Yosef be, “Abe ale si nènyae ene la, nɔviwòwo le alẽawo dzi kpɔm le teƒe si te ɖe Sekem ŋu. Va madɔ wò ɖe nɔviwòwo gbɔ.” Yosef ɖo eŋu be, “Enyo.”
14 And Israel said to him, Go and see if thy brethren and the sheep are well, and bring me word; and he sent him out of the valley of Chebron, and he came to Sychem.
Ale wògblɔ nɛ be, “Yi nàkpɔe ɖa be nu sia nu le edzi yim nyuie na nɔviwòwo kple woƒe lãwo hã, eye nàva gblɔe nam.” Ale wòɖoe ɖa le Hebron ƒe Balime. Esime Yosef ɖo Sekem la,
15 And a man found him wandering in the field; and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
ŋutsu aɖe kpɔe le gbea dzi, eye wòbiae be, “Ame ka dim nèle?”
16 And he said, I am seeking my brethren; tell me where they feed [their flocks].
Yosef ɖo eŋu be, “Nɔvinyewo kple woƒe alẽwo dim mele; èkpɔ wo nama?”
17 And the man said to him, They have departed hence, for I heard them saying, Let us go to Dothaim; and Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothaim.
Ŋutsu la ɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, womegale afi sia o; mese nɔviwòwo nɔ gbɔgblɔm be yewoayi Dotan.” Ale Yosef dze wo yome yi Dotan, eye wòkpɔ wo le afi ma.
18 And they spied him from a distance before he drew nigh to them, and they wickedly took counsel to slay him.
Ke esi wògbɔna la, wodze sii tso adzɔge ke, eye woɖo be yewoawui!
19 And each said to his brother, Behold, that dreamer comes.
Wogblɔ na wo nɔewo be, “Drɔ̃ekula ma gbɔna ɖaa!
20 Now then come, let us kill him, and cast him into one of the pits; and we will say, An evil wild beast has devoured him; and we shall see what his dreams will be.
Mina míawui atsɔ eƒe ŋutilã aƒu gbe ɖe vudo siawo dometɔ ɖeka me, eye míagblɔ be lã wɔadã aɖee vuvui. Ekema míakpɔ nu si ado tso eƒe drɔ̃ekuku la me ɖa.”
21 And Ruben having heard it, rescued him out of their hands, and said, Let us not kill him.
Esi Ruben se nya sia la, edze agbagba be yeaɖee tso woƒe asi me. Egblɔ be, “Migana míawui o.
22 And Ruben said to them, Shed not blood; cast him into one of these pits in the wilderness, but do not lay [your] hands upon him; that he might rescue him out of their hands, and restore him to his father.
Migakɔ ʋu aɖeke ɖi o. Midae ɖe vudo sia me le gbegbe la, gake migade asi eŋu o.” Ruben gblɔ nya sia be yeaɖee tso woƒe asi me, eye yeakplɔe ayi na fofoa.
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph came to his brethren, that they stripped Joseph of his many-coloured coat that was upon him.
Eya ta esi Yosef ɖo nɔviawo gbɔ la, woɖe eƒe awu ʋlaya la le eŋu,
24 And they took him and cast him into the pit; and the pit was empty, it had not water.
eye wolée da ɖe vudo aɖe si me tsi menɔ o la me.
25 And they sat down to eat bread; and having lifted up their eyes they beheld, and lo, Ismaelitish travellers came from Galaad, and their camels were heavily loaded with spices, and resin, and myrrh; and they went to bring them to Egypt.
Wonɔ anyi, ɖu nu; kasia wokpɔ kposɔ aɖewo le didiƒe gbɔna wo gbɔ. Wonye Ismaeletɔ asitsala siwo tso Gilead la, eye wotsɔ aŋe, lifi kple kotoklobo yina ɖe Egipte.
26 And Judas said to his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
Yuda gblɔ na nɔviawo be, “Viɖe ka míakpɔ ne míewu mía nɔvi, eye míetsyɔ nu eƒe ʋu dzi?
27 Come, let us sell him to these Ismaelites, but let not our hands be upon him, because he is our brother and our flesh; and his brethren hearkened.
“Mina míadzrae na Ismaeletɔwo, eye míade asi eŋu o, elabena mía nɔviŋutsue; míawo ŋutɔ míaƒe ŋutilã kple ʋue.” Nɔviawo lɔ̃ ɖe edzi.
28 And the men, the merchants of Madian, went by, and they drew and lifted Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ismaelites for twenty pieces of gold; and they brought Joseph down into Egypt.

29 And Ruben returned to the pit, and sees not Joseph in the pit; and he rent his garments.
Ruben menɔ anyi hafi nɔviawo dzra Yosef o. Emegbe esi wòtrɔ gbɔ la, eyi be yeaɖe Yosef le vudo la me, ke esi wòkpɔ be Yosef megale vudoa me o la, evee ŋutɔ, eye wòdze eƒe awuwo.
30 And he returned to his brethren and said, The boy is not; and I, whither am I yet to go?
Efa avi hegblɔ na nɔviawo be, “Ɖevi la megale vudo la me o; ke afi ka nye ya mayi fifia?”
31 And having taken the coat of Joseph, they slew a kid of the goats, and stained the coat with the blood.
Nɔviawo wu gbɔ̃ aɖe, eye wotsɔ Yosef ƒe awuwo bliba ɖe gbɔ̃ la ƒe ʋu me.
32 And they sent the coat of many colours; and they brought it to their father, and said, This have we found; know if it be thy son's coat or no. And he recognised it, and said, It is my son's coat, an evil wild beast has devoured him; a wild beast has carried off Joseph.
Wotsɔ awu la yi na wo fofo be wòakpɔ ɖa be ame ka tɔe mahã. Wogblɔ nɛ be, “Míekpɔ awu sia le gbedzi. Yosef tɔe loo alo menye etɔe oa?”
Wo fofo kpɔe dze sii enumake. Efa avi gblɔ be, “Ɛ̃, vinye ƒe awue. Lã wɔadã aɖee lée; eme kɔ ƒãa be lã wɔadã aɖe vuvu Yosef.”
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
Israel dze eƒe awuwo, ta akpanya, eye wòfa konyi le via ƒe ku ta kɔsiɖa geɖewo.
35 And all his sons and his daughters gathered themselves together, and came to comfort him; but he would not be comforted, saying, I will go down to my son mourning to Hades; and his father wept for him. (Sheol h7585)
Ƒometɔwo katã dze agbagba be yewoafa akɔ nɛ do kpoe. Egblɔna be, “Medi be maku le vinye la fafa me,” eye wògawoa avi hehehe! (Sheol h7585)
36 And the Madianites sold Joseph into Egypt; to Petephres, the eunuch of Pharao, captain of the guard.
Midiantɔwo kplɔ Yosef yi Egipte, eye wodzrae na Potifar, ame si nye Egipte fia, Farao ƒe aƒedzikpɔla kple eŋudzɔsrafowo ƒe amegã.
