Genesis 30

1 And Rachel having perceived that she bore Jacob no children, was jealous of her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children; and if not, I shall die.

Şi când Rahela a văzut că ea nu îi naşte lui Iacob copii, Rahela a invidiat pe sora ei; şi i-a spus lui Iacob: Dă-mi copii sau altfel mor.

2 And Jacob was angry with Rachel, and said to her, Am I in the place of God, who has deprived thee of the fruit of the womb?

Şi mânia lui Iacob s-a aprins împotriva Rahelei şi a spus: Sunt eu în locul lui Dumnezeu care a oprit de la tine rodul pântecelui?

3 And Rachel said to Jacob, Behold my handmaid Balla, go in to her, and she shall bear upon my knees, and I also shall have children by her.

Iar ea a spus: Iată, pe servitoarea mea, Bilha, intră la ea; şi va naşte pe genunchii mei, ca eu de asemenea să am copii prin ea.

4 And she gave him Balla her maid, for a wife to him; and Jacob went in to her.

Şi i-a dat-o pe Bilha, roaba ei, de soţie; şi Iacob a intrat la ea.

5 And Balla, Rachel's maid, conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

Şi Bilha a rămas însărcinată şi i-a născut lui Iacob un fiu.

6 And Rachel said, God has given judgment for me, and hearkened to my voice, and has given me a son; therefore she called his name, Dan.

Şi Rahela a spus: Dumnezeu m-a judecat şi a auzit de asemenea vocea mea şi mi-a dat un fiu; de aceea i-a pus numele Dan.

7 And Balla, Rachel's maid, conceived yet again, and bore a second son to Jacob.

Şi Bilha, servitoarea Rahelei, a rămas însărcinată din nou şi i-a născut lui Iacob un al doilea fiu.

8 And Rachel said, God has helped me, and I contended with my sister and prevailed; and she called his name, Nephthalim.

Şi Rahela a spus: Cu mari lupte am luptat cu sora mea şi am învins; şi i-a pus numele Neftali.

9 And Lea saw that she ceased from bearing, and she took Zelpha her maid, and gave her to Jacob for a wife; and he went in to her.

Când Leea a văzut că ea a încetat să nască, a luat pe Zilpa, servitoarea ei, şi i-a dat-o lui Iacob de soţie.

10 And Zelpha the maid of Lea conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

Şi Zilpa, servitoarea Leei, i-a născut lui Iacob un fiu.

11 And Lea said, [It is] happily: and she called his name, Gad.

Şi Leea a spus: O trupă înarmată vine; şi i-a pus numele Gad.

12 And Zelpha the maid of Lea conceived yet again, and bore Jacob a second son.

Şi Zilpa, servitoarea Leei, i-a născut lui Iacob un al doilea fiu.

13 And Lea said, I am blessed, for the women will pronounce me blessed; and she called his name, Aser.

Şi Leea a spus: Fericită sunt, căci fiicele mă vor numi binecuvântată; şi i-a pus numele Aşer.

14 And Ruben went in the day of barley-harvest, and found apples of mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Lea; and Rachel said to Lea her sister, Give me of thy son's mandrakes.

Şi Ruben a mers în zilele secerişului grâului şi a găsit mandragore în câmp şi le-a adus la mama lui, Leea. Atunci Rahela i-a spus Leei: Dă-mi, te rog, din mandragorele fiului tău.

15 And Lea said, [Is it] not enough for thee that thou hast taken my husband, wilt thou also take my son's mandrakes? And Rachel said, Not so: let him lie with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes.

Iar Leea i-a spus: Este puţin lucru că ai luat pe soţul meu? Şi voieşti să iei şi mandragorele fiului meu? Şi Rahela a spus: De aceea el să se culce cu tine la noapte pentru mandragorele fiului tău.

16 And Jacob came in out of the field at even; and Lea went forth to meet him, and said, Thou shalt come in to me this day, for I have hired thee for my son's mandrakes; and he lay with her that night.

Şi Iacob a venit de la câmp pe înserat şi Leea a ieşit să îl întâlnească şi a spus: Trebuie să intri la mine; căci cu adevărat te-am angajat cu mandragorele fiului meu. Şi el s-a culcat cu ea în acea noapte.

17 And God hearkened to Lea, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.

Şi Dumnezeu a dat ascultare Leei şi ea a rămas însărcinată şi i-a născut lui Iacob al cincilea fiu.

18 And Lea said, God has given me my reward, because I gave my maid to my husband; and she called his name Issachar, which is, Reward.

Şi Leea a spus: Dumnezeu mi-a dat plata mea, pentru că am dat pe servitoarea mea soţului meu; şi i-a pus numele Isahar.

19 And Lea conceived again, and bore Jacob a sixth son.

Şi Leea a rămas însărcinată din nou şi i-a născut lui Iacob al şaselea fiu.

20 And Lea said, God has given me a good gift in this time; my husband will choose me, for I have born him six sons: and she called his name, Zabulon.

Şi Leea a spus: Dumnezeu m-a înzestrat cu o zestre bună; acum soţul meu va locui cu mine, deoarece i-am născut şase fii; şi i-a pus numele Zabulon.

21 And after this she bore a daughter; and she called her name, Dina.

Şi mai apoi ea a născut o fiică şi i-a pus numele Dina.

22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and he opened her womb.

Şi Dumnezeu şi-a amintit de Rahela şi Dumnezeu i-a dat ascultare şi i-a deschis pântecele.

23 And she conceived, and bore Jacob a son; and Rachel said, God has taken away my reproach.

Şi ea a rămas însărcinată şi a născut un fiu şi a spus: Dumnezeu mi-a luat ocara;

24 And she called his name Joseph, saying, Let God add to me another son.

Şi i-a pus numele Iosif şi a spus: DOMNUL îmi va adăuga un alt fiu.

25 And it came to pass when Rachel had born Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my place and to my land.

Şi s-a întâmplat, când Rahela a născut pe Iosif, că Iacob i-a spus lui Laban: Trimite-mă, ca să merg la locul meu şi în ţara mea.

26 Restore my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, that I may depart, for thou knowest the service wherewith I have served thee.

Dă-mi soţiile mele şi copiii mei, pentru care ţi-am servit şi lasă-mă să plec, pentru că ştii serviciul meu pe care ţi l-am făcut.

27 And Laban said to him, If I have found grace in thy sight, I would augur [well], for the Lord has blessed me at thy coming in.

Şi Laban i-a spus: Te rog, dacă am găsit favoare în ochii tăi, rămâi, căci am învăţat prin experienţă că DOMNUL m-a binecuvântat din cauza ta.

28 Appoint me thy wages, and I will give [them].

Iar el a spus: Rânduieşte-mi plăţile tale şi ţi le voi da.

29 And Jacob said, Thou knowest in what things I have served thee, and how many cattle of thine are with me.

Iar el i-a spus: Ştii cum ţi-am servit şi că turma ta era cu mine.

30 For it was little thou hadst before my time, and it is increased to a multitude, and the Lord God has blessed thee since my coming; now then, when shall I set up also my own house?

Căci era puţin ce ai avut înainte ca eu să vin şi acum a sporit într-o mulţime; şi DOMNUL te-a binecuvântat de la venirea mea şi acum, când voi îngriji şi de casa mea?

31 And Laban said to him, What shall I give thee? and Jacob said to him, Thou shalt not give me anything; if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again tend thy flocks and keep them.

Iar el a spus: Ce să îţi dau? Şi Iacob a spus: Nu îmi da nimic, dacă vei face acest lucru pentru mine, voi paşte şi voi ţine din nou turma ta;

32 Let all thy sheep pass by to-day, and separate thence every grey sheep among the rams, and every one that is speckled and spotted among the goats—[this] shall be my reward.

Voi trece prin toată turma ta astăzi, mutând de acolo toate cele pestriţe şi pătate şi toate cele cenuşii dintre oi şi pe cele pestriţe şi pătate dintre capre şi din aceasta va fi plata mea.

33 And my righteousness shall answer for me on the morrow, for it is my reward before thee: whatever shall not be spotted and speckled among the goats, and grey among the rams, shall be stolen with me.

Aşa va răspunde dreptatea mea pentru mine în timpul ce vine, când vine timpul pentru plata mea înaintea feţei tale; fiecare vită care nu este pestriţă sau pătată dintre capre şi cenuşie dintre oi, aceea va fi socotită de mine ca furată.

34 And Laban said to him, Let it be according to thy word.

Şi Laban a spus: Iată, aş voi să fie conform cuvântului tău.

35 And he separated in that day the spotted and speckled he-goats, and all the spotted and speckled she-goats, and all that was grey among the rams, and every one that was white among them, and he gave them into the hand of his sons.

Şi a scos în acea zi ţapii care erau vărgaţi şi pătaţi şi toate caprele care erau pestriţe şi pătate şi pe fiecare ce avea ceva alb pe ea şi tot ce era cenuşiu între oi şi le-a dat în mâna fiilor săi.

36 And he set a distance of a three days' journey between them and Jacob. And Jacob tended the cattle of Laban that were left behind.

Şi a pus trei zile de călătorie între el şi Iacob; şi Iacob a păscut restul turmelor lui Laban.

37 And Jacob took to himself green rods of storax tree and walnut and plane-tree; and Jacob peeled in them white stripes; and as he drew off the green, the white stripe which he had made appeared alternate on the rods.

Şi Iacob a luat toiege verzi de plop şi de alun şi de castan dulce; şi a descojit dungi albe pe ele şi a făcut să apară albul care era în toiege.

38 And he laid the rods which he had peeled, in the hollows of the watering-troughs, that whensoever the cattle should come to drink, as they should have come to drink before the rods, the cattle might conceive at the rods.

Şi a pus toiegele pe care le descojise înaintea turmelor în jgheaburi, în adăpătoarele cu apă, când turmele veneau să bea, ca ele, când veneau să bea, să zămislească.

39 So the cattle conceived at the rods, and the cattle brought forth [young] speckled, and streaked and spotted with ash-coloured [spots].

Şi turmele zămisleau înaintea toiegelor şi năşteau miei vărgaţi, pestriţi şi pătaţi.

40 And Jacob separated the lambs, and set before the sheep a speckled ram, and every variegated one among the lambs, and he separated flocks for himself alone, and did not mingle them with the sheep of Laban.

Şi Iacob a separat mieii şi întorcea feţele turmelor spre cele vărgate şi toate cele cenuşii în turma lui Laban; şi a pus propriile sale turme deoparte şi nu le-a pus cu turmele lui Laban.

41 And it came to pass in the time wherein the cattle became pregnant, conceiving in the belly, Jacob put the rods before the cattle in the troughs, that they might conceive by the rods.

Şi s-a întâmplat, de câte ori oile mai puternice zămisleau, că Iacob aşeza toiegele înaintea ochilor oilor în jgheaburile de apă, ca ele să zămislească printre toiege.

42 But he did not put them in [indiscriminately] whenever the cattle happened to bring forth, but the unmarked ones were Laban's, and the marked ones were Jacob's.

Dar când oile erau slabe, nu le punea înăuntru, aşa că cele mai slabe erau ale lui Laban şi cele mai puternice ale lui Iacob.

43 And the man became very rich, and he had many cattle, and oxen, and servants, and maid-servants, and camels, and asses.

Şi acest bărbat a sporit peste măsură şi avea multe oi şi servitoare şi servitori şi cămile şi măgari.
