< Genesis 26 >
1 And there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine, which was in the time of Abraam; and Isaac went to Abimelech the king of the Phylistines to Gerara.
Ne wabaawo enjala mu nsi, eteri eri eyabaawo mu biseera bya Ibulayimu. Isaaka n’agenda mu Gerali, ewa Abimereki kabaka w’Abafirisuuti.
2 And the Lord appeared to him and said, Go not down to Egypt, but dwell in the land, which I shall tell thee of.
Ne Mukama n’amulabikira, n’amugamba nti, “Toserengeta Misiri, beera mu nsi gye ndikulaga.
3 And sojourn in this land; and I will be with thee, and bless thee, for I will give to thee and to thy seed all this land; and I will establish my oath which I swore to thy father Abraam.
Beera mu nsi gye ndikulaga, nnaabeeranga naawe, n’akuwanga omukisa kubanga gwe n’abaana bo ndibawa ensi zino zonna, era ndituukiriza ekirayiro kye nalayirira kitaawo Ibulayimu.
4 And I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven; and I will give to thy seed all this land, and all the nations of the earth shall be blest in thy seed.
Ndyaza abaana b’enda yo ne baba ng’emmunyeenye ez’eggulu, era ndibawa n’ensi zino zonna. Era mu bo amawanga gonna ag’oku nsi mwe galiweerwa omukisa;
5 Because Abraam thy father hearkened to my voice, and kept my injunctions, and my commandments, and my ordinances, and my statutes.
kubanga Ibulayimu yagondera eddoboozi lyange, n’akwata bye namukuutira, n’ebiragiro byange, n’ebigambo byange awamu n’amateeka gange.”
6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerara.
Bw’atyo Isaaka n’abeera mu Gerali,
7 And the men of the place questioned him concerning Rebecca his wife, and he said, She is my sister, for he feared to say, She is my wife, lest at any time the men of the place should slay him because of Rebecca, because she was fair.
abasajja ab’omu nsi omwo bwe baamubuuza ku mukazi we n’abaddamu nti, “Mwannyinaze.” Kubanga yatya okwogera nti, “Mukazi wange,” ng’alowooza nti, “Abasajja ab’omu nsi omwo tebalwa kunzita lwa Lebbeeka,” kubanga yali mulungi nnyo.
8 And he remained there a long time, and Abimelech the king of Gerara leaned to look through the window, and saw Isaac sporting with Rebecca his wife.
Bwe yamalayo ekiseera ekiwanvu, Abimereki, kabaka w’Abafirisuuti n’atunula mu ddirisa, n’alaba Isaaka ng’azannya ne Lebbeeka mukazi we.
9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said to him, Is she then thy wife? why hast thou said, She is my sister? And Isaac said to him, [I did so], for I said, Lest at any time I die on her account.
Abimereki kwe kuyita Isaaka n’amugamba nti, “Ddala, mukazi wo, lwaki wagamba nti, ‘Mwannyinaze’?” Isaaka n’amuddamu nti, “Kubanga nalowooza nti, ‘Nnyinza okufiirwa obulamu bwange ku lulwe.’”
10 And Abimelech said to him, Why hast thou done this to us? one of my kindred within a little had lain with thy wife, and thou wouldest have brought [a sin of] ignorance upon us.
Abimereki n’amugamba nti, “Kale kiki kino ky’otukoze? Omu ku basajja yandiyinzizza okusobya ku mukazi wo, wandituleeseeko omusango.”
11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying Every man that touches this man and his wife shall be liable to death.
Awo Abimereki n’alyoka alagira abantu bonna ng’agamba nti, “Buli alikwata ku musajja ono oba ku mukyala we waakuttibwa.”
12 And Isaac sowed in that land, and he found in that year barley and hundred-fold, and the Lord blessed him.
Isaaka n’asigala mu nsi omwo, n’afuna amakungula emirundi kikumi ag’ebyo bye yasiga, kubanga Mukama yamuwa omukisa.
13 And the man was exalted, and advancing he increased, till he became very great.
N’afuuka mugagga, obugagga bwe ne bweyongera n’agaggawala nnyo.
14 And he had cattle of sheep, and cattle of oxen, and many tilled lands, and the Phylistines envied him.
Yalina ebisibo by’endiga bingi nnyo n’amagana g’ente, era n’abaweereza nfaafa; Abafirisuuti ne bamukwatirwa obuggya.
15 And all the wells which the servants of his father had dug in the time of his father, the Phylistines stopped them, and filled them with earth.
Kyebaava bajjuza enzizi zonna abaddu ba kitaawe ze baasima mu biro bya kitaawe Ibulayimu, ne baziziba.
16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, Depart from us, for thou art become much mightier than we.
Ne Abimereki n’agamba Isaaka nti, “Ggenda, tuveemu kubanga otuyitiridde amaanyi.”
17 And Isaac departed thence, and rested in the valley of Gerara, and dwelt there.
Awo Isaaka n’avaayo n’azimba mu kiwonvu eky’e Gerali, n’abeera omwo.
18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which the servants of his father Abraam had dug, and the Phylistines had stopped them, after the death of his father Abraam; and he gave them names, according to the names by which his father named them.
Isaaka n’azibukula enzizi ezaali zisimiddwa mu biseera bya Ibulayimu kitaawe, kubanga Abafirisuuti baziziba Ibulayimu bwe yamala okufa. Era ye Isaaka n’aziyita amannya gali kitaawe ge yali azituumye.
19 And the servants of Isaac dug in the valley of Gerara, and they found there a well of living water.
Naye abaddu ba Isaaka bwe basima mu kiwonvu ne bazuula oluzzi olw’ensulo,
20 And the shepherds of Gerara strove with the shepherds of Isaac, saying that the water was theirs; and they called the name of the well, Injury, for they injured him.
abasumba b’omu Gerali ne bayomba n’abasumba ba Isaaka nga bagamba nti, “Amazzi gaffe.” Oluzzi olwo kyeyava alutuuma Eseki, kubanga baawakana naye.
21 And having departed thence he dug another well, and they strove also for that; and he named the name of it, Enmity.
Kyebaava basima oluzzi olulala, era nalwo ne baluyombera, lwo kwe kuluyita Situna.
22 And he departed thence and dug another well; and they did not strive about that; and he named the name of it, Room, saying, Because now the Lord has made room for us, and has increased us upon the earth.
Awo n’avaayo n’asima oluzzi olulala, olwo lwo ne bataluyombera, kyeyava alutuuma Lekobosi, ng’agamba nti, “Kubanga kaakano Mukama atuwadde ebbanga, era tujja kukulaakulanira muno.”
23 And he went up thence to the well of the oath.
Bwe yava eyo n’agenda e Beeruseba.
24 And the Lord appeared to him in that night, and said, I am the God of Abraam thy father; fear not, for I am with thee, and I will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for the sake of Abraam thy father.
Ekiro ekyo Mukama n’alabikira Isaaka, n’amugamba nti, “Nze Katonda wa Ibulayimu kitaawo, totya. Kubanga ndiwamu naawe, ndikuwa omukisa era ndyaza abaana bo ku lwa Ibulayimu omuddu wange.”
25 And he built there an altar, and called on the name of the Lord, and there he pitched his tent, and there the servants of Isaac dug a well in the valley of Gerara.
Awo n’azimbawo ekyoto n’akoowoola erinnya lya Mukama, n’asimba eyo eweema ye. Era n’eyo abaddu be ne basimayo oluzzi.
26 And Abimelech came to him from Gerara, and so did Ochozath his friend, and Phichol the commander-in-chief of his army.
Mu kiseera kye kimu Abimereki n’ava mu Gerali ng’ali ne Akuzasa gwe yeebuuzangako amagezi ne Fikoli omukulu w’eggye lye, n’agenda eri Isaaka.
27 And Isaac said to them, Wherefore have ye come to me? whereas ye hated me, and sent me away from you.
Isaaka n’ababuuza nti, “Lwaki muzze gye ndi ng’ate mwankijjanya ne mungobaganya?”
28 And they said, We have surely seen that the Lord was with thee, and we said, Let there be an oath between us and thee, and we will make a covenant with thee,
Ne bamuddamu nti, “Tulabidde ddala nga Mukama ali naawe, kyetuva tugamba nti, ‘Wabeewo ekirayiro wakati wo naffe. Era tukole endagaano naawe,
29 that thou shalt do no wrong by us, as we have not abhorred thee, and according as we have treated thee well, and have sent thee forth peaceably; and now thou art blessed of the Lord.
nga tolitukola kabi, nga ffe bwe tutaakakukola era nga tetuliiko kye tukukoze, wabula ebirungi era nga twakusiibula mirembe.’ Kaakano gwe oli muntu Mukama gw’awadde omukisa.”
30 And he made a feast for them, and they ate and drank.
Awo Isaaka n’abakolera ekijjulo ne balya ne banywa.
31 And they arose in the morning, and swore each to his neighbour; and Isaac sent them forth, and they departed from him in safety.
Ku makya ennyo ne bagolokoka ne balayiriragana, Isaaka n’abawerekerako ne bava gy’ali mirembe.
32 And it came to pass in that day, that the servants of Isaac came and told him of the well which they had dug; and they said, We have not found water.
Ku lunaku olwo lwennyini, abaddu ba Isaaka ne bajja ne bamutegeeza eby’oluzzi lwe baasima, ne bamugamba nti, “Tuzudde amazzi.”
33 And he called it, Oath: therefore he called the name of that city, the Well of Oath, until this day.
N’alutuuma Siba; erinnya ly’ekibuga kyeriva liba Beeruseba na buli kati.
34 And Esau was forty years old; and he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beoch the Chettite, and Basemath, daughter of Helon the Chettite.
Esawu bwe yaweza emyaka amakumi ana egy’obukulu, n’awasa Yudisi muwala wa Beeri Omukiiti, ne Besimansi muwala wa Eroni naye Omukiiti.
35 And they were provoking to Isaac and Rebecca.
Ne bakaluubiriza nnyo Isaaka ne Lebbeeka obulamu.
