< Jezekiel 35 >
1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
Son of man, set thy face against the mountain of Se'ir, and prophecy against it,
3 and say to it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and will make thee a waste, and thou shalt be made desolate.
And say unto it, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will be against thee, O mountain of Se'ir, and I will stretch out my hand over thee, and I will render thee desolate and wasted.
4 And I will cause desolation in thy cities, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
Thy cities will I lay in ruins, and thou thyself shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
5 Because thou hast been a perpetual enemy, and hast laid wait craftily for the house of Israel, with the hand of enemies with a sword, in the time of injustice, at the last:
Because thou hast had an undying hatred, and didst surrender the children of Israel to the power of the sword, at the time of their calamity, at the time of the iniquity of the end:
6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, verily thou hast sinned even to blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, I will surely let thy blood flow, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou didst not hate blood-shedding, so shall blood pursue thee.
7 And I will make mount Seir a waste, and desolate, and I will destroy from off it men and cattle:
Thus will I change the mountain of Se'ir into a desolate land and a waste, and I will cut off from it him that travelleth forward and backward.
8 and I will fill thy hills and thy valleys with slain men, and in all thy plains there shall fall in thee men slain with the sword.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain: as regardeth thy hills, and thy valleys, and all thy ravines, in them shall fall those that are slain by the sword.
9 I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited any more: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
Into perpetual desolations will I change thee, and thy cities shall not be restored: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
10 Because thou saidst, The two nations and the two countries shall be mine, and I shall inherit them; whereas the Lord is there:
Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall indeed be mine, and we will take possession thereof; whereas the Lord was there:
11 therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord, I will even deal with thee according to thine enmity, and I will be made known to thee when I shall judge thee:
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thy anger, and according to thy envy which thou didst use out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I judge thee.
12 and thou shalt know that I am the Lord. I have heard the voice of thy blasphemies, whereas thou hast said, The desert mountains of Israel are given to us for food;
And thou shalt know that I am the Lord: I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given unto us to consume them.
13 and thou hast spoken swelling words against me with thy mouth: I have heard [them].
And ye boasted greatly against me with your mouth, and have multiplied against me your words: I have indeed heard them.
14 Thus saith the Lord; When all the earth is rejoicing, I will make thee desert.
Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
15 Thou shalt be desert, O mount Seir, and all Idumea; and it shall be utterly consumed: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord their God.
As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was made desolate: so will I do unto thee; desolate shalt thou be, O mountain of Se'ir, and all Idumea—altogether; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
