Jezekiel 27
1 And the word of the Lord came to me saying,
La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
2 And thou, son of man, take up a lamentation against Sor;
Et toi, fils de l’homme, Prononce sur Tyr une complainte!
3 and thou shalt say to Sor that dwells at the entrance of the sea, to the mart of the nations coming from many islands, Thus saith the Lord to Sor; Thou hast said, I have clothed myself with my beauty.
Tu diras à Tyr: O toi qui es assise au bord de la mer, Et qui trafiques avec les peuples d’un grand nombre d’îles! Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Tyr, tu disais: Je suis parfaite en beauté!
4 In the heart of the sea thy sons have put beauty upon thee for Beelim.
Ton territoire est au cœur des mers; Ceux qui t’ont bâtie t’ont rendue parfaite en beauté.
5 Cedar in Senir was employed for thee in building: boards of cypress timber were taken out of Libanus, and wood to make thee masts of fir.
Avec des cyprès de Senir ils ont fait tous tes lambris; Ils ont pris des cèdres du Liban pour t’élever un mât;
6 They made thine oars [of wood] out of the land of Basan; thy sacred utensils they made of ivory, thy shady houses of wood from the isles of Chetiim.
Ils ont fabriqué tes rames avec des chênes de Basan, Et tes bancs avec de l’ivoire travaillé dans du buis, Et apporté des îles de Kittim.
7 Fine linen with embroidery from Egypt supplied the couch, to put honour upon thee, and to clothe thee with blue and purple from the isles of Elisai; and they became thy coverings.
Le fin lin d’Égypte avec des broderies Te servait de voiles et de pavillon; Des étoffes teintes en bleu et en pourpre des îles d’Élischa Formaient tes tentures.
8 And thy princes were the dwellers in Sidon, and the Aradians were thy rowers: thy wise men, O Sor, who were in thee, these were thy pilots.
Les habitants de Sidon et d’Arvad étaient tes rameurs, Et les plus experts du milieu de toi, ô Tyr, étaient tes pilotes.
9 The elders of the Biblians, and their wise men, who were in thee, these helped thy counsel: and all the ships of the sea and their rowers traded for thee to the utmost west.
Les anciens de Guebal et ses ouvriers habiles étaient chez toi, Pour réparer tes fissures; Tous les navires de la mer et leurs mariniers étaient chez toi, Pour faire l’échange de tes marchandises.
10 Persians and Lydians and Libyans were in thine army: thy warriors hung in thee shields and helmets; these gave [thee] thy glory.
Ceux de Perse, de Lud et de Puth, servaient dans ton armée, C’étaient des hommes de guerre; Ils suspendaient chez toi le bouclier et le casque, Ils te donnaient de la splendeur.
11 The sons of the Aradians and thine army were upon the walls; there were guards in thy towers: they hung their quivers on thy battlements round about; these completed thy beauty.
Les enfants d’Arvad et tes guerriers garnissaient tes murs, Et de vaillants hommes occupaient tes tours; Ils suspendaient leurs boucliers à tous tes murs, Ils rendaient ta beauté parfaite.
12 The Carthaginians were thy merchants because of the abundance of all thy strength; they furnished thy market with silver, and gold, and iron, and tin, and lead.
Ceux de Tarsis trafiquaient avec toi, A cause de tous les biens que tu avais en abondance; D’argent, de fer, d’étain et de plomb, Ils pourvoyaient tes marchés.
13 Greece, both the whole [world], and the adjacent coasts, these traded with thee in the persons of men, and they gave [as] thy merchandise vessels of brass.
Javan, Tubal et Méschec trafiquaient avec toi; Ils donnaient des esclaves et des ustensiles d’airain En échange de tes marchandises.
14 Out of the house of Thogarma horses and horsemen furnished the market.
Ceux de la maison de Togarma Pourvoyaient tes marchés de chevaux, de cavaliers et de mulets.
15 The sons of the Rhodians were thy merchants; from the islands they multiplied thy merchandise, [even] elephants' teeth: and to them that came in thou didst return thy prices,
Les enfants de Dedan trafiquaient avec toi; Le commerce de beaucoup d’îles passait par tes mains; On te payait avec des cornes d’ivoire et de l’ébène.
16 [even] men [as] thy merchandise, from the multitude of thy trading [population], myrrh and embroidered works from Tharsis: Ramoth also and Chorchor furnished thy market.
La Syrie trafiquait avec toi, A cause du grand nombre de tes produits; D’escarboucles, de pourpre, de broderies, De byssus, de corail et de rubis, Elle pourvoyait tes marchés.
17 Juda and the children of Israel, these were thy merchants; in the sale of corn and ointments and cassia: and they gave the best honey, and oil, and resin, to thy trading [population].
Juda et le pays d’Israël trafiquaient avec toi; Ils donnaient le froment de Minnith, La pâtisserie, le miel, l’huile et le baume, En échange de tes marchandises.
18 [The people of] Damascus were thy merchants by reason of the abundance of all thy power; wine out of Chelbon, and wool from Miletus; and they brought wine into thy market.
Damas trafiquait avec toi, A cause du grand nombre de tes produits, A cause de tous les biens que tu avais en abondance; Elle te fournissait du vin de Helbon et de la laine blanche.
19 Out of Asel [came] wrought iron, and there is the sound of wheels among thy trading [population].
Vedan et Javan, depuis Uzal, Pourvoyaient tes marchés; Le fer travaillé, la casse et le roseau aromatique, Étaient échangés avec toi.
20 [The people of] Daedan were thy merchants, with choice cattle for chariots.
Dedan trafiquait avec toi En couvertures pour s’asseoir à cheval.
21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, these were thy traders with thee, [bringing] camels, and lambs, and rams, in which they trade with thee.
L’Arabie et tous les princes de Kédar trafiquaient avec toi, Et faisaient le commerce en agneaux, en béliers et en boucs.
22 The merchants of Sabba and Ramma, these were thy merchants, with choice spices, and precious stones: and they brought gold to thy market.
Les marchands de Séba et de Raema trafiquaient avec toi; De tous les meilleurs aromates, De toute espèce de pierres précieuses et d’or, Ils pourvoyaient tes marchés.
23 Charra, and Chanaa, these were thy merchants: Assur, and Charman, were thy merchants:
Charan, Canné et Éden, Les marchands de Séba, d’Assyrie, de Kilmad, Trafiquaient avec toi;
24 bringing [for] merchandise blue, and choice stores bound with cords, and cypress wood.
Ils trafiquaient avec toi en belles marchandises, En manteaux teints en bleu, en broderies, En riches étoffes contenues dans des coffres Attachés avec des cordes, faits en bois de cèdre, Et amenés sur tes marchés.
25 Ships were thy merchants, in abundance, with thy trading [population]: and thou wast filled and very heavily loaded in the heart of the sea.
Les navires de Tarsis naviguaient pour ton commerce; Tu étais au comble de la richesse et de la gloire, Au cœur des mers.
26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the south wind has broken thee in the heart of the sea.
Tes rameurs t’ont fait voguer sur les grandes eaux: Un vent d’orient t’a brisée au cœur des mers.
27 Thy forces, and thy gain, and that of thy traders, and thy rowers, and thy pilots, and thy counselors, and they that traffic with thee, and all thy warriors that are in thee: and all thy company in the midst of thee shall perish in the heart of the sea, in the day of thy fall.
Tes richesses, tes marchés et tes marchandises, Tes mariniers et tes pilotes, Ceux qui réparent tes fissures Et ceux qui s’occupent de ton commerce, Tous tes hommes de guerre qui sont chez toi Et toute la multitude qui est au milieu de toi Tomberont dans le cœur des mers, Au jour de ta chute.
28 At the cry of thy voice thy pilots shall be greatly terrified.
Aux cris de tes pilotes, Les plages d’alentour trembleront;
29 And all the rowers and the mariners shall come down from the ships, and the pilots of the sea shall stand on the land.
Et tous ceux qui manient la rame descendront de leurs navires, Les mariniers, tous les pilotes de la mer. Ils se tiendront sur la terre;
30 And they shall wail over thee with their voice, and cry bitterly, and put earth on their heads, and spread ashes under them.
Ils feront entendre leurs voix sur toi, Et pousseront des cris amers; Ils jetteront de la poussière sur leurs têtes Et se rouleront dans la cendre;
Ils se raseront la tête à cause de toi, Ils se revêtiront de sacs, Et ils pleureront sur toi dans l’amertume de leur âme, Avec une vive affliction.
32 And their sons shall take up a [lament] for thee, even a lamentation for Sor, [saying],
Dans leur douleur, ils diront une complainte sur toi, Ils se lamenteront sur toi: Qui était comme Tyr, Comme cette ville détruite au milieu de la mer?
33 How large a reward hast thou gained from the sea? thou hast filled nations out of thine abundance; and out of thy mixed merchandise thou hast enriched all the kings of the earth.
Quand tes produits sortaient des mers, Tu rassasiais un grand nombre de peuples; Par l’abondance de tes biens et de tes marchandises, Tu enrichissais les rois de la terre.
34 Now art thou broken in the sea, thy traders are in the deep water, and all thy company in the midst of thee: all thy rowers have fallen.
Et quand tu as été brisée par les mers, Quand tu as disparu dans les profondeurs des eaux, Tes marchandises et toute ta multitude Sont tombées avec toi.
35 All the dwellers in the islands have mourned over thee, and their kings have been utterly amazed, and their countenance has wept.
Tous les habitants des îles sont dans la stupeur à cause de toi, Leurs rois sont saisis d’épouvante, Leur visage est bouleversé.
36 Merchants from the nations have hissed at thee; thou art utterly destroyed, and shalt not be any more for ever.
Les marchands parmi les peuples sifflent sur toi; Tu es réduite au néant, tu ne seras plus à jamais!
