Exodus 15
1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song to God, and spoke, saying, Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified: horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.
Alors Moïse et les enfants d’Israël chantèrent ce cantique au Seigneur, et dirent: Chantons le Seigneur, car il s’est glorieusement signalé; il a précipité dans la mer le cheval et celui qui le montait.
2 He was to me a helper and protector for salvation: this is my God and I will glorify him; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
Ma force et ma louange, c’est le Seigneur; car il est devenu mon salut. C’est mon Dieu, et je le glorifierai: le Dieu de mon père, et je l’exalterai.
3 The Lord bringing wars to nought, the Lord [is] his name.
Le Seigneur est comme un combattant, le Tout-puissant est son nom.
4 He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea, the chosen mounted captains: they were swallowed up in the Red Sea.
Il a lancé les chars de Pharaon et son armée dans la mer; et ses princes d’élite ont été submergés dans la mer Rouge.
5 He covered them with the sea: they sank to the depth like a stone.
Les abîmes les ont couverts; ils sont descendus au profond du gouffre comme une pierre.
6 Thy right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength; thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies.
Votre droite. Seigneur, s’est signalée dans sa force; votre droite. Seigneur, a frappé l’ennemi.
7 And in the abundance of thy glory thou hast broken the adversaries to pieces: thou sentest forth thy wrath, it devoured them as stubble.
Et par la grandeur de votre gloire vous avez renversé vos adversaires; vous avez envoyé votre colère qui les a dévorés comme la paille.
8 And by the breath of thine anger the water parted asunder; the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea.
Et au souffle de votre fureur les eaux se sont amoncelées; l’onde qui coulait s’est arrêtée, et les abîmes se sont amoncelés au milieu de la mer.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I will satisfy my soul, I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion.
L’ennemi a dit: Je poursuivrai, je saisirai, je partagerai les dépouilles; mon âme sera remplie: je tirerai mon glaive; ma main les tuera.
10 Thou sentest forth thy wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water.
Votre vent a soufflé, et la mer les a couverts; ils se sont enfoncés comme le plomb dans des eaux impétueuses.
11 Who is like to thee among the gods, O Lord? who is like to thee? glorified in holiness, marvellous in glories, doing wonders.
Qui est semblable à vous parmi les forts, ô Seigneur? qui est semblable à vous, magnifique en sainteté, terrible et digne de louanges, faisant des prodiges?
12 Thou stretchedst forth thy right hand, the earth swallowed them up.
Vous avez étendu votre main, et la terre les a dévorés.
13 Thou hast guided in thy righteousness this thy people whom thou hast redeemed, by thy strength thou hast called them into thy holy resting-place.
Dans votre miséricorde vous avez été un guide pour le peuple que vous avez racheté, et vous l’avez porté dans votre force jusqu’à votre demeure sainte.
14 The nations heard and were angry, pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines.
Les peuples sont montés et ont été irrités; les douleurs ont saisi les habitants de la Palestine.
15 Then the princes of Edom, and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted; trembling took hold upon them, all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away.
Alors les princes de l’idumée ont été violemment troublés; la peur a saisi les forts de Moab; tous les habitants de Chanaan ont été glacés d’effroi.
16 Let trembling and fear fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm, let them become as stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till this thy people pass over, whom thou hast purchased.
Que l’épouvante et l’effroi fondent sur eux à cause de l’étendue de votre bras; qu’ils deviennent immobiles comme une pierre, jusqu’à ce que soit passé votre peuple, ô Seigneur, jusqu’à ce que soit passé ce peuple que vous vous êtes acquis.
17 Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance, in thy prepared habitation, which thou, O Lord, hast prepared; the sanctuary, O Lord, which thine hands have made ready.
Vous les introduirez et vous les planterez sur la montagne de votre héritage, dans votre demeure inébranlable que vous avez faite, Seigneur; c’est votre sanctuaire qu’ont affermi vos mains.
18 The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever.
Le Seigneur régnera dans l’éternité, et au-delà.
19 For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea, but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea.
Car Pharaon est entré à cheval dans la mer avec ses chars et ses cavaliers, et le Seigneur à ramené sur eux les eaux de la mer; mais les enfants d’Israël ont marché à sec au milieu de la mer.
20 And Mariam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, having taken a timbrel in her hand—then there went forth all the women after her with timbrels and dances.
Marie, prophétesse, sœur d’Aaron, prit donc un tambour en sa main, et toutes les femmes sortirent après elle avec des tambours et en chœur.
21 And Mariam led them, saying, Let us sing to the Lord, for he has been very greatly glorified: the horse and rider has he cast into the sea.
Elle chantait avant elles, disant: Chantons le Seigneur; car il s’est glorieusement signalé: il a précipité dans la mer le cheval et celui qui le montait.
22 So Moses brought up the children of Israel from the Red Sea, and brought them into the wilderness of Sur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water to drink.
Or Moïse fit sortir Israël de la mer Rouge, et ils allèrent au désert de Sur; et ils marchèrent trois jours dans la solitude, et ils ne trouvaient pas d’eau.
23 and they came to Merrha, and could not drink of Merrha, for it was bitter; therefore he named the name of that place, Bitterness.
Et ils vinrent à Mara; mais ils ne pouvaient pas boire des eaux de Mara, parce qu’elles étaient amères; c’est pourquoi il lui donna un nom conforme au lieu, l’appelant Mara, c’est-à-dire, amertume.
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
Et le peuple murmura contre Moïse, disant: Que boirons-nous?
25 And Moses cried to the Lord, and the Lord shewed him a tree, and he cast it into the water, and the water was sweetened: there he established to him ordinances and judgments, and there he proved him,
Mais Moïse cria au Seigneur qui lui montra un bois: lorsqu’il l’eut jeté dans les eaux, elles devinrent douces: là le Seigneur lui donna des préceptes et des ordonnances, et là il le tenta,
26 and said, If thou wilt indeed hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and do things pleasing before him, and wilt hearken to his commands, and keep all his ordinances, no disease which I have brought upon the Egyptians will I bring upon thee, for I am the Lord thy God that heals thee.
Disant: Si tu écoutes la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, et si tu fais ce qui est droit devant lui, et que tu obéisses à ses commandements, et que tu gardes tous ses préceptes, je n’amènerai sur toi aucune de ces maladies que j’ai introduites en Egypte; car c’est moi le Seigneur qui te guéris.
27 And they came to Aelim, and there were there twelve fountains of water, and seventy stems of palm-trees; and they encamped there by the waters.
Ensuite les enfants d’Israël vinrent à Elim, où il y avait douze sources d’eaux et soixante-dix palmiers; et ils campèrent auprès des eaux.
