Esther 4
1 But Mardochæus having perceived what was done, rent his garments, and put on sackcloth, and sprinkled dust upon himself; and having rushed forth through the open street of the city, he cried with a loud voice, A nation that has done no wrong is going to be destroyed.
А Мардохеј дознав све шта би, раздре хаљине своје и обуче се у кострет и посу се пепелом и пође по граду вичући иза гласа горко.
2 And he came to the king’s gate, and stood; for it was not lawful for him to enter into the palace, wearing sackcloth and ashes.
И дође до пред врата царева, јер не беше слободно ући на врата царева у кострети.
3 And in every province where the letters were published, [there was] crying and lamentation and great mourning on the part of the Jews: they spread for themselves sackcloth and ashes.
И у свим земљама, у које год место дође реч царева и заповест његова, би велика жалост међу Јеврејима и пост и плач и јаук, и многи у кострети и пепелу лежаху.
4 And the queen’s maids and chamberlains went in and told her: and when she had heard what was done, she was disturbed; and she sent to clothe Mardochæus, and take away his sackcloth; but he consented not.
И дођоше девојке Јестирине и дворани њени, и јавише јој: и царица се ожалости веома, и посла хаљине да преобуку Мардохеја и да скину с њега кострет; али он не прими.
5 So Esther called for her chamberlain Achrathæus, who waited upon her; and she sent to learn the truth from Mardochæus.
Тада дозва Јестира Атаха, дворанина царевог, ког јој беше дао да јој служи, и заповеди му за Мардохеја да разбере шта му је и зашто.
И отиде Атах к Мардохеју на улицу градску која беше пред вратима царевим.
7 And Mardochæus shewed him what was done, and the promise which Aman had made the king of ten thousand talents [to be paid] into the treasury, that he might destroy the Jews.
И Мардохеј му каза све што му се догодило и за сребро што је обрекао Аман дати у цареву ризницу за Јудејце да их истреби;
8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew [it] unto Esther, and to declare [it] unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
И препис од заповести која би проглашена у Сусану да се истребе, даде му да је покаже Јестири и јави, и да јој наручи да отиде к цару и да га умилостиви и да га моли за свој народ.
9 So Achrathæus went in and told her all these words.
И вративши се Атах каза Јестири речи Мардохејеве.
10 And Esther said to Achrathæus, Go to Mardochæus, and say,
А Јестира рече Атаху и заповеди му да каже Мардохеју:
11 All the nations of the empire know, that whoever, man or woman, shall go in to the king into the inner court uncalled, that person cannot live: only to whomsoever the king shall stretch out [his] golden sceptre, he shall live: and I have not been called to go in to the king, for these thirty days.
Знају све слуге цареве и народ по земљама царевим да ко би год, човек или жена, ушао к цару унутра у двор не будући позван, један је закон за њ, да се погуби, осим коме би цар пружио златну палицу, тај остаје жив; а ја нисам звана да уђем к цару, ово је тридесет дана.
12 And Achrathæus reported to Mardochæus all the words of Esther.
И казане бише Мардохеју речи Јестирине.
13 Then Mardochæus said to Achrathæus, Go, and say to her, Esther, say not to thyself that thou alone wilt escape in the kingdom, more than all the [other] Jews.
А Мардохеј опет поручи Јестири: Немој мислити да ћеш се мимо све Јудејце избавити у дому царевом.
14 For if thou shalt refuse to hearken on this occasion, help and protection will be to the Jews from another quarter; but thou and thy father’s house will perish: and who knows, if thou hast been made queen for this [very] occasion?
Јер ако ти заћутиш сада, доћи ће помоћ и избављење Јудејцима с друге стране, а ти и дом оца твог погинућете; и ко зна ниси ли за овако време дошла до царства.
15 And Esther sent the [man] that came to her to Mardochæus, saying,
Тада рече Јестира да одговоре Мардохеју:
16 Go and assemble the Jews that are in Susa, and fast ye for me, and eat not and drink not for three days, night and day: and I also and my maidens will fast; and then I will go in to the king contrary to the law, even if I must die.
Иди, скупи све Јудејце што се налазе у Сусану, и постите за ме, и не једите ни пијте за три дана ни дању ни ноћу; и ја ћу са својим девојкама постити такође, па ћу онда отићи к цару, ако и није по закону, и ако погинем, нека погинем.
17 So Mardochaeus went and did all that Esther commanded him.
Тада отиде Мардохеј и учини све како му заповеди Јестира.
