< Ecclesiastes 1 >
1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king of Israel in Jerusalem.
Maloba ya Moteyi, mwana mobali ya Davidi, mokonzi na Yelusalemi.
2 Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
Pamba na pamba, elobi Moteyi; pamba na pamba, nyonso ezali kaka pamba.
3 What advantage [is there] to a man in all his labour that he takes under the sun?
Moto azwaka litomba nini penza na misala nyonso oyo amonelaka pasi na se ya moyi?
4 A generation goes, and a generation comes: but the earth stands for ever.
Eleko moko eleki, mpe eleko mosusu eyei, kasi mabele etikalaka kaka seko na seko.
5 And the sun arises, and the sun goes down and draws toward its place;
Moyi ebimaka mpe elalaka, bongo ezongaka na lombangu na esika oyo ebimelaka.
6 arising there it proceeds southward, and goes round toward the north. The wind goes round and round, and the wind returns to its circuits.
Mopepe ekeyi na ngambo ya sude, ebaluki na ngambo ya nor, ebaluki-baluki mpe ekeyi lisusu, ezongelaka kaka banzela wana.
7 All the rivers run into the sea; and yet the sea is not filled: to the place whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Mayi nyonso ekendaka na ebale monene, kasi ebale monene etondaka te; mpe mayi yango ezongaka lisusu epai ewutaka.
8 All things are full of labour; a man will not be able to speak [of them]: neither shall the eye be satisfied with seeing, neither shall the ear be filled with hearing.
Makambo nyonso elembisaka, moto oyo akoki kobeta na yango tembe azali te; nzokande, miso etondaka te na kotala, mpe matoyi etondaka te na koyoka.
9 What is that which has been? the very thing which shall be: and what is that which has been done? the very thing which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Oyo ezalaki ekozala lisusu, oyo esalemaki ekosalema lisusu: likambo ya sika ezalaka te na se ya moyi.
10 [Who is he] that shall speak and say, Behold, this is new? it has already been in the ages that have passed before us.
Boni, ezali penza na likambo moko oyo moto akoki koloba na tina yango: « Tala, oyo penza ezali likambo ya sika? » Te, esila komizalela kala, kala penza liboso ya eleko na biso.
11 There is no memorial to the first things; neither to the things that have been last shall their memorial be with them that shall at the last [time].
Ndenge bato bayebaka lisusu bato ya kala te, ndenge wana mpe bato oyo bakoya sima bakotikala koyeba bango te na bato oyo bakolanda.
12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
Ngai, Moteyi, nazalaki mokonzi ya Isalaele, na Yelusalemi.
13 And I applied my heart to seek out and examine by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven, for God has given to the sons of men an evil trouble to be troubled therewith.
Namipesaki mpo na koyekola mpe kososola na nzela ya bwanya, makambo nyonso oyo esalemaka na se ya moyi. Nzokande, ezali na yango kaka mosala ya mpunda oyo Nzambe apesa na bana ya bato mpo ete bamonela yango pasi!
14 I beheld all the works that were wrought under the sun; and, beheld, all were vanity and waywardness of spirit.
Namona misala nyonso oyo esalemaka na se ya moyi; nyonso wana ezali kaka pamba, ezali lokola moto azali kolanda mopepe.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and deficiency cannot be numbered.
Bakoki te kosembola eloko oyo etengama, bakoki mpe te kotanga eloko oyo ezali te.
16 I spoke in my heart, saying, Behold, I am increased, and have acquired wisdom beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem: also I applied my heart to know wisdom and knowledge.
Namilobelaki: « Tala, nakolisi mpe nabakisi bwanya mingi koleka moto nyonso oyo azalaki liboso na ngai, na Yelusalemi. » Motema na ngai etondaki penza na bwanya mpe na boyebi ebele.
17 And my heart knew much—wisdom, and knowledge, parables and understanding: I perceived that this also is waywardness of spirit.
Namipesaki makasi mpo na koyekola bwanya mpe, lisusu, makambo ya bozoba mpe ya liboma; kasi nasosolaki ete yango mpe ezali kaka lokola moto azali kolanda mopepe.
18 For in the abundance of wisdom is abundance of knowledge; and he that increases knowledge will increase sorrow.
Pamba te kozala na bwanya mingi ememelaka moto pasi, mpe kozala na mayele mingi etungisaka motema.
