Deuteronomy 33
1 And this [is] the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.
Voici les bénédictions que donna Moïse, homme de Dieu, aux fils d'Israël avant sa mort.
2 And he said, The Lord is come from Sina, and has appeared from Seir to us, and has hasted out of the mount of Pharan, with the ten thousands of Cades; on his right hand [were] his angels with him.
Il dit: Le Seigneur est venu de Sina, et hors de Séir; il s'est manifesté à nous, et il a passé rapidement de la montagne de Pharan à Cadès, avec des myriades d'anges, et ses anges se tenaient à sa droite.
3 And he spared his people, and all his sanctified ones [are] under thy hands; and they are under thee; and he received of his words
Et il a épargné son peuple, et tous les saints sont sous sa main; ils sont sous lui, et le peuple a reçu de sa bouche
4 the law which Moses charged us, an inheritance to the assemblies of Jacob.
La loi que Moïse vous a prescrite, pour être l'héritage de la synagogue de Jacob.
5 And he shall be prince with the beloved one, when the princes of the people are gathered together with the tribes of Israel.
Elle sera comme un prince, avec le bien-aimé, tant que tous les princes du peuple seront unis avec les tribus d'Israël.
6 Let Ruben live, and not die; and let him be many in number.
Que Ruben vive, qu'il ne meure pas, qu'il soit considérable par le nombre.
7 And this [is the blessing] of Juda; Hear, Lord, the voice of Juda, and do thou visit his people: his hands shall contend for him, and thou shalt be a help from his enemies.
Et voici la bénédiction de Juda: Ecoutez, Seigneur, la voix de Juda, vous viendriez parmi son peuple; ses mains décideront pour lui, et vous serez son protecteur contre ses ennemis.
8 And to Levi he said, Give to Levi his manifestations, and his truth to the holy man, whom they tempted in the temptation; they reviled him at the water of strife.
Et il dit à Lévi: Donnez à Lévi ses manifestations, donnez à l'homme consacré sa VÉRITÉ; il a été éprouvé par les tentations; au sujet de l'eau de contradiction, il a été injurié.
9 Who says to his father and mother, I have not seen thee; and he knew not his brethren, and he refused to know his sons: he kept thine oracles, and observed thy covenant.
C'est lui qui dit à son père et à sa mère: Je ne vous ai point vus, et qui ne connaît pas ses frères, et qui ne reconnaît pas ses fils; il garde vos saintes lois, Seigneur, il veille à votre alliance.
10 They shall declare thine ordinances to Jacob, and thy law to Israel: they shall place incense in [the time of] thy wrath continually upon thine altar.
Ils déclareront à Jacob vos ordonnances, et à Israël votre loi; ils apaiseront votre colère avec de l'encens; ils placeront des holocaustes sur votre autel.
11 Bless, Lord, his strength, and accept the works of his hands; break the loins of his enemies that have risen up against him, and let not them that hate him rise up.
Seigneur, bénissez sa force; ayez pour agréables les œuvres de ses mains; brisez les reins des ennemis qui sont près de l'assaillir, et que ceux qui le haïssent n'osent point lever la tête.
12 And to Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in confidence, and God overshadows him always, and he rested between his shoulders.
Et il dit à Benjamin, bien-aimé du Seigneur: Il a dressé ses tentes avec sécurité, et Dieu, tous les jours, étendra sur lui son ombre, et il s'est reposé entre les épaules de Dieu.
13 And to Joseph he said, His land [is] of the blessing of the Lord, of the seasons of sky and dew, and of the deeps of wells below,
Et il dit à Joseph: Sa terre est la terre de la bénédiction du Seigneur; c'est la terre des fruits du ciel et de la rosée, et des sources qui jaillissent de l'abîme,
14 and of the fruits of the changes of the sun in season, and of the produce of the months,
Et des récoltes qui mûrissent en leur saison, au gré de la marche du soleil et des phases de la lune,
15 from the top of the ancient mountains, and from the top of the everlasting hills,
Soit sur les sommités des premières collines, soit sur les cimes des monts éternels,
16 and of the fullness of the land in season: and let the things pleasing to him that dwelt in the bush come on the head of Joseph, and on the crown [of him who was] glorified above his brethren.
En la saison de la plénitude de la terre. Puissent toutes les grâces de Celui qui s'est manifesté dans le buisson ardent, venir sur la tête de Joseph qui a été glorifié au-dessus de ses frères.
17 His beauty [is as] the firstling of his bull, his horns [are] the horns of a unicorn; with them he shall thrust the nations at once, even from the end of the earth: these [are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, and these [are] the thousands of Manasse.
Sa beauté est celle du premier-né du taureau, ses cornes sont comme celles de la licorne; avec elles il frappera toutes les nations à la fois, jusqu'aux confins de la terre. Telles seront les myriades d'Ephraïm, tels seront les millions de Manassé.
18 And to Zabulon he said, Rejoice, Zabulon, in thy going out, and Issachar in his tents.
Et il dit à Zabulon: Réjouis-toi, Zabulon, par tes excursions, et qu'Issachar se réjouisse sous ses tentes;
19 They shall utterly destroy the nations, and ye shall call [men] there, and there offer the sacrifice of righteousness; for the wealth of the sea shall suckle thee, and so shall the marts of them that dwell by the sea-coast.
On exterminera des nations, et vous y serez appelés, et en ce lieu vous offrirez les sacrifices de justice, et la richesse de la mer et le commerce des habitants du rivage vous allaiteront.
20 And to Gad he said, Blessed [be] he that enlarges Gad: as a lion he rested, having broken the arm and the ruler.
Et il dit à Gad: Béni soit celui qui dilate Gad; il s'est reposé comme un lion après avoir broyé les bras et la tête.
21 And he saw his first-fruits, that there the land of the princes gathered with the chiefs of the people was divided; the Lord wrought righteousness, and his judgment with Israel.
Et il a vu ses prémices, parce que, en ce lieu, a été partagée la terre des princes réunis aux chefs du peuple. Le Seigneur a fait justice, et il a été équitable envers Israël.
22 And to Dan he said, Dan [is] a lion's whelp, and shall leap out of Basan.
Et il dit à Dan: Dan, lionceau de lion; il s'élancera de Basan.
23 And to Nephthali he said, Nephthali [has] the fulness of good things; and let him be filled with blessing from the Lord: he shall inherit the west and the south.
Et il dit à Nephthali: A Nephthali, plénitude de choses agréables; qu'il soit rempli de la bénédiction du Seigneur; il aura en partage l'Occident et le Midi.
24 And to Aser he said, Aser [is] blessed with children; and he shall be acceptable to his brethren: he shall dip his foot in oil.
Et il dit à Aser: Béni soit Aser en ses enfants; il sera agréable à ses frères, il se baignera les pieds dans l'huile.
25 His sandal shall be iron and brass; as thy days, so [shall be] thy strength.
Le fer et l'airain seront sa chaussure; ta force sera comme tes jours.
26 There is not [any such] as the God of the beloved; he who rides upon the heaven [is] thy helper, and the magnificent One of the firmament.
Rien n'est comparable au Dieu du bien-aimé; ton protecteur marche sur le ciel, il à toute la magnificence du firmament.
27 And the rule of God shall protect thee, and [that] under the strength of the everlasting arms; and he shall cast forth the enemy from before thy face, saying, Perish.
Et la royauté de Dieu t'abritera, et tu seras protégé par la force de ses bras éternels, et, devant ta face, il chassera ton ennemi, et lui dira: Meurs.
28 And Israel shall dwell in confidence alone on the land of Jacob, with corn and wine; and the sky [shall be] misty with dew upon thee.
Et Israël sera seul à dresser ses tentes avec sécurité sur la terre de Jacob, au milieu de l'abondance du blé et du vin; pour toi le ciel se couvrira de nuages qui répandront de la rosée.
29 Blessed [art] thou, O Israel; who [is] like to thee, O people saved by the Lord? thy helper shall hold his shield over thee, and [his] sword [is] thy boast; and thine enemies shall speak falsely to thee, and thou shalt tread upon their neck.
Heureux Israël! quel peuple est semblable à toi, sauvé par la Seigneur? Ton protecteur te placera sous son bouclier; et son épée sera ta gloire; et tes ennemis chercheront à te tromper par leurs mensonges, et tu leur marcheras sur le cou.
