Daniel 4

1 King Nabuchodonosor to all nations, tribes, and tongues, who dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied to you.

Împăratul Nebucadnețar, tuturor popoarelor, națiunilor și limbilor, ce locuiesc pe tot pământul: Pacea să vi se înmulțească.

2 It seemed good to me to declare to you the signs and wonders which the most high God has wrought with me,

Am gândit [că este] bine să arăt semnele și minunile pe care Dumnezeul cel Preaînalt le-a lucrat către mine.

3 how great and mighty [they are]: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his power to all generations.

Cât de mărețe [sunt] semnele lui! Și cât de puternice [sunt] minunile lui! Împărăția lui [este] o împărăție veșnică și domnia lui [este] din generație în generație.

4 I Nabuchodonosor was thriving in my house, and prospering.

Eu Nebucadnețar mă odihneam în casa mea, înflorind în palatul meu:

5 I saw a vision, and it terrified me, and I was troubled on my bed, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Am văzut un vis care m-a înfricoșat și gândurile [mele] pe patul meu și viziunile capului meu m-au tulburat.

6 And I made a decree to bring in before me all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

De aceea am dat o hotărâre să se aducă toți înțelepții Babilonului înaintea mea, ca să îmi facă cunoscută interpretarea visului.

7 So the enchanters, magicians, soothsayers, [and] Chaldeans came in: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me the interpretation thereof;

Atunci au intrat magii, astrologii, caldeenii și ghicitorii și am spus visul înaintea lor, dar nu mi-au făcut cunoscută interpretarea lui.

8 until Daniel came, whose name is Baltasar, according to the name of my God, who has within him the Holy Spirit of God; to whom I said,

Dar la urmă a intrat Daniel înaintea mea, al cărui nume [era] Belteșațar, conform cu numele dumnezeului meu și în care [este] duhul sfinților dumnezei și am spus visul înaintea lui, [zicând: ]

9 O Baltasar, chief of the enchanters, of whom I know that the Holy Spirit of God is in thee, and no mystery is too hard for thee, hear the vision of my dream which I had, and tell me the interpretation of it.

Belteșațar, stăpânul magilor, deoarece știu că duhul sfinților dumnezei [este] în tine și nicio taină nu te tulbură, spune-mi viziunile visului meu pe care l-am văzut și interpretarea lui.

10 I had a vision upon my bed; and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great.

Astfel [erau] viziunile capului meu în patul meu; am văzut și, iată, un copac în mijlocul pământului și înălțimea lui [era] mare.

11 The tree grew large and strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its extent to the extremity of the whole earth:

Copacul a crescut și era tare și înălțimea lui a ajuns la cer și priveliștea lui la marginea întregului pământ;

12 its leaves were fair, and its fruit abundant, and in it was meat for all; and under it the wild beasts of the field took shelter, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed of it.

Frunzele lui [erau] frumoase și rodul lui mult și în el [era] mâncare pentru toți; fiarele câmpului aveau umbră sub el și păsările cerului locuiau printre crengile lui și toată făptura era hrănită din acesta.

13 I beheld in the night vision upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven, and cried aloud, and thus he said,

Am văzut în viziunile capului meu pe patul meu și, iată, un paznic și un sfânt a coborât din cer;

14 Cut down the tree, and pluck off its branches, and shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the wild beasts be removed from under it, and the birds from its branches.

El a strigat tare și a spus astfel: Tăiați copacul și retezați-i ramurile, scuturați-i frunzele și împrăștiați-i rodul; să se îndepărteze fiarele de sub el și păsările dintre ramurile lui;

15 Only leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and [bind it] with an iron and brass band; and it shall lie in the grass that is without and in the dew of heaven, and its portion [shall be] with the wild beasts in the grass of the field.

Totuși lasă buturuga cu rădăcinile lui în pământ, chiar cu o legătură de fier și aramă, în iarba nouă a câmpului; și să fie udat cu roua cerului și să [fie] porția lui cu fiarele în iarba pământului;

16 His heart shall be changed from that of man, and the heart of a wild beast shall be given to him; and seven times shall pass over him.

Să fie schimbată inima lui de om și să îi fie dată o inimă de fiară; și să treacă șapte timpuri peste el.

17 The matter is by the decree of the watcher, and the demand is a word of the holy ones; that the living may know that the Lord is most high [over] the kingdom of men, and he will give it to whomsoever he shall please, and will set up over it that which is set at nought of men.

Acest lucru [este] prin hotărârea paznicilor și cererea prin cuvântul celor sfinți, pentru a cunoaște cei vii că cel Preaînalt domnește în împărăția oamenilor și o dă oricui voiește și așează peste ea pe cei mai josnici dintre oameni.

18 This is the vision which I king Nabuchodonosor saw: and do thou, Baltasar, declare the interpretation, for none of the wise men of my kingdom are able to shew me the interpretation of it: but thou, Daniel, art able; for the Holy Spirit of God is in thee.

Acest vis eu împăratul Nebucadnețar l-am văzut. Acum tu, Belteșațar, spune interpretarea lui, întrucât toți înțelepții împărăției mele nu sunt în stare să îmi facă cunoscută interpretarea; dar tu [ești] în stare, căci duhul dumnezeilor sfinți [este] în tine.

19 Then Daniel, whose name is Baltasar, was amazed about one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. And Baltasar answered and said, [My] lord, let the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation of it to thine enemies.

Atunci Daniel, al cărui nume [era] Belteșațar, a rămas înmărmurit pentru o oră și gândurile lui l-au tulburat. Împăratul a vorbit și a spus: Belteșațar, să nu te tulbure visul sau interpretarea lui. Belteșațar a răspuns și a zis: Domnul meu, visul [să fie] pentru cei ce te urăsc și interpretarea lui dușmanilor tăi.

20 The tree which thou sawest, that grew large and strong, whose height reached to the sky and its extent to all the earth;

Copacul pe care l-ai văzut, care a crescut și era tare, a cărui înălțime a atins cerul și priveliștea lui tot pământul;

21 and whose leaves were flourishing, and its fruit abundant, (and it was meat for all; under it the wild beasts lodged, and the birds of the sky took shelter in its branches: )

Ale cărui frunze [erau] frumoase și rodul lui mult și în el [era] mâncare pentru toți; sub care fiarele câmpului au locuit și pe ramurile căruia păsările cerului au avut locuința lor:

22 is thyself, O king; for thou art grown great and powerful, and thy greatness has increased and reached to heaven, and thy dominion to the ends of the earth.

Acesta [ești] tu, împărate, care ai crescut și ai devenit tare, căci măreția ta a crescut și ajunge până la cer și domnia ta până la marginea pământului.

23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and he said, Strip the tree, and destroy it; only leave the stump of its roots in the ground, and [bind it] with a band of iron and brass; and it shall lie in the grass that is without, and in the dew of heaven, and its portion shall be with wild beasts, until seven times have passed over it;

Și pentru că împăratul a văzut un paznic și un sfânt coborând din cer și spunând: Tăiați copacul și distrugeți-l; totuși lăsați buturuga cu rădăcinile lui în pământ, chiar cu o legătură de fier și aramă, în iarba moale a câmpului; și să fie udat cu roua cerului și să [fie] porția lui cu fiarele câmpului, până când șapte timpuri vor trece peste el;

24 this is the interpretation of it, O king, and it is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king.

Aceasta [este] interpretarea, împărate și acesta [este] hotărârea celui Preaînalt, care a venit peste domnul meu împăratul:

25 And they shall drive thee forth from men, and thy dwelling shall be with wild beasts, and they shall feed thee with grass as an ox, and thou shalt have thy lodging under the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High is Lord of the kingdom of men, and will give it to whom he shall please.

Te vor alunga dintre oameni și locuința ta va fi cu fiarele câmpului și te vor face să mănânci iarbă ca boii și te vor uda cu roua cerului și șapte timpuri vor trece peste tine, până când vei cunoaște că cel Preaînalt domnește în împărăția oamenilor și o dă oricui voiește.

26 And whereas they said, Leave the stumps of the roots of the tree; thy kingdom abides [sure] to thee from the time that thou shalt know the power of the heavens.

Și pentru că au poruncit să lase buturuga cu rădăcinile copacului, împărăția ta îți va fi sigură, după ce vei fi cunoscut că cerurile domnesc.

27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel please thee, and atone for thy sins by alms, and [thine] iniquities by compassion on the poor: it may be God will be long-suffering to thy trespasses.

De aceea, împărate, să îți fie bine primit sfatul meu și încetează păcatele tale, făcând dreptate; și nelegiuirile tale, arătând milă celor săraci; poate va fi o lungire a liniștii tale.

28 All these things came upon king Nabuchodonosor.

Toate acestea au venit peste împăratul Nebucadnețar.

29 After a twelvemonth, as he walked in his palace in Babylon,

La sfârșitul a douăsprezece luni umbla prin palatul împărăției Babilonului.

30 the king answered and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for a royal residence, by the might of my power, for the honour of my glory?

Împăratul a vorbit și a spus: Nu este acesta marele Babilon, pe care eu l-am construit pentru casa împărăției prin tăria puterii mele și pentru onoarea maiestății mele?

31 While the word was yet in the king’s mouth, there came a voice from heaven, [saying], To thee, king Nabuchodonosor, they say, The kingdom has departed from thee.

În timp ce cuvântul [era încă] în gura împăratului, a căzut o voce din cer, [spunând: ] Împărate Nebucadnețar, ție ți se spune: Împărăția este îndepărtată de la tine.

32 And they [shall] drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the wild beasts of the field, and they shall feed thee with grass as an ox: and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High is Lord of the kingdom of men, and he will give it to whomsoever he shall please.

Și te vor alunga dintre oameni și locuința ta [va fi] cu fiarele câmpului; te vor face să mănânci iarbă ca boii și șapte timpuri vor trece peste tine, până când vei cunoaște că cel Preaînalt domnește în împărăția oamenilor și o dă oricui voiește.

33 In the same hour the word was fulfilled upon Nabuchodonosor: and he was driven forth from men, and he ate grass as an ox, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven, until his hairs were grown like lions’ [hairs], and his nails as birds’ [claws].

În același moment s-a împlinit aceasta peste Nebucadnețar și a fost alungat dintre oameni și a mâncat iarbă ca boii și trupul lui a fost udat cu roua cerului, până când perii lui au crescut ca [penele] acvilelor și unghiile lui ca [ghearele] păsărilor.

34 And at the end of the time I Nabuchodonosor lifted up mine eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised him that lives for ever, and gave [him] glory; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom [lasts] to all generations:

Și la sfârșitul zilelor eu, Nebucadnețar, mi-am ridicat ochii spre cer și înțelegerea mi s-a întors și am binecuvântat pe cel Preaînalt și l-am lăudat și l-am onorat pe cel ce trăiește pentru totdeauna, a cărui domnie [este] o domnie veșnică și împărăția lui [este] din generație în generație;

35 and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and there is none who shall withstand his power, and say to him, What hast thou done?

Și toți locuitorii pământului [sunt] considerați ca nimic; și el face conform voii lui în oștirea cerului și [printre] locuitorii pământului; și nimeni nu poate opri mâna lui, sau să îi spună: Ce faci?

36 At the same time my reason returned to me, and I came to the honour of my kingdom; and my [natural] form returned to me, and my princes, and my nobles, sought me, and I was established in my kingdom, and more abundant majesty was added to me.

În același timp rațiunea mi s-a întors; și pentru gloria împărăției mele, onoarea mea și strălucirea mi s-au întors; și sfătuitorii mei și domnii mei m-au căutat; și am fost întemeiat în împărăția mea și mi s-a adăugat o maiestate aleasă.

37 Now therefore I Nabuchodonosor praise and greatly exalt and glorify the King of heaven; for all his works are true, and his paths are judgment: and all that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Acum eu Nebucadnețar laud și înalț și onorez pe Împăratul cerului, ale cărui lucrări toate [sunt] adevăr și căile lui judecată; și pe cei ce umblă în mândrie este în stare să îi doboare.
