Kings II 16
1 And David passed on a little way from Ros; and, behold, Siba the servant of Memphibosthe [came] to meet him; and he had a couple of asses laden, and upon them two hundred loaves, and a hundred [bunches of] raisins, and a hundred [cakes of] dates, and bottle of wine.
Apenas hubo David pasado un poco más allá de la cumbre, he aquí que Sibá, siervo de Mefibóset, vino a su encuentro con un par de asnos aparejados, y sobre ellos doscientos panes, cien cuelgas de pisas, cien frutas de verano y un odre de vino.
2 And the king said to Siba, What meanest thou by these? and Siba, said, The asses [are] for the household of the king to sit upon, and the loaves and the dates [are] for the young men to eat, and the wine [is] for them that are faint in the wilderness to drink.
Preguntó el rey a Sibá: “¿Qué quieres con estas cosas?” Respondió Sibá: “Los asnos son para que monte en ellos la familia del rey, y el pan y las frutas para que coman los mozos, y el vino para que beban los que se fatiguen en el desierto.”
3 And the king said, And where [is] the son of thy master? and Siba said to the king, Behold, he remains in Jerusalem; for he said, To-day shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of my father.
Preguntó más el rey: “¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor?” Sibá respondió al rey: “He aquí que se ha quedado en Jerusalén, diciendo: «Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre.»”
4 And the king said to Siba, Behold, all Memphibosthe's property [is] thine. And Siba did obeisance and said, My lord, O king, let me find grace in thine eyes.
Dijo entonces el rey a Sibá: “He aquí que todo lo que pertenece a Mefibóset, es tuyo.” A lo que contestó Sibá: “Yo me prosterno. ¡Halle yo gracia a tus ojos, oh rey, señor mío!”
5 And king David came to Baurim; and, behold, there came out from thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, and his name [was] Semei the son of Gera. He came forth and cursed as he went,
Cuando el rey llegó a Bahurim, he aquí que de allí le salió al encuentro un hombre de la parentela de Saúl, cuyo nombre era Semeí, hijo de Gerá. Salía, echando maldiciones,
6 and cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on the right and left hand of the king.
y tiraba piedras contra David, y contra todos los siervos del rey David, mientras toda la gente y todos los hombres de guerra marchaban a la derecha y a la izquierda (del rey).
7 And thus Semei said when he cursed him, Go out, go out, thou bloody man, and man of sin.
Y así decía Semeí en sus maldiciones: “¡Vete, vete sanguinario y hombre de Belial!
8 The Lord has returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, because thou hast reigned in his stead; and the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of Abessalom thy son: and, behold, thou [art taken] in thy mischief, because thou [art] a bloody man.
Yahvé ha hecho recaer sobre ti toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, en cuyo lugar te has hecho rey; Yahvé ha dado el reino en manos de Absalón, tu hijo; y a ti te ha prendido en tus maldades, porque eres un sanguinario.”
9 And Abessa the son of Saruia said to the king, Why does this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over now and take off his head.
Entonces Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, dijo al rey: “¿Por qué este perro muerto ha de maldecir a mi señor el rey? Iré, con tu permiso, y le cortaré la cabeza.”
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Saruia? even let him alone, and so let him curse, for the Lord has told him to curse David: and who shall say, Why hast thou done thus?
El rey respondió: “¿Qué tengo yo que ver con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? ¡Que siga él maldiciendo! Si Yahvé le ha dicho: «¡Maldice a David!» ¿Quién osará decirle: «Por qué haces esto»?”
11 And David said to Abessa and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came forth out of my bowels seeks my life; still more now may the son of Benjamin: let him curse, because the Lord has told him.
Y dijo David a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: “Mirad, mi propio hijo, que salió de mis entrañas, busca cómo quitarme la vida. ¿Con cuánta más razón puede hacerlo este hijo de Benjamín? Dejadle que siga maldiciendo; porque se lo ha mandado Yahvé.
12 If by any means the Lord may look on my affliction, thus shall he return me good for his cursing this day.
Quizás Yahvé mirará mi aflicción y me devolverá bienes en lugar de las maldiciones de hoy.”
13 And David and all the men with him went on the way: and Semei went by the side of the hill next to him, cursing as he went, and casting stones at him, and sprinkling him with dirt.
Así, pues, David y sus hombres siguieron su camino, mientras Semeí iba por la falda del monte, cerca de David, maldiciendo y tirando piedras hacia él y esparciendo polvo.
14 And the king, and all the people with him, came away and refreshed themselves there.
El rey y toda la gente que le acompañaba llegaron extenuados y descansaron en aquel lugar.
15 And Abessalom and all the men of Israel went into Jerusalem, and Achitophel with him.
Entretanto Absalón y todo el pueblo, los hombres de Israel, habían llegado a Jerusalén, y con él Aquitófel.
16 And it came to pass when Chusi the chief friend of David came to Abessalom, that Chusi said to Abessalom, Let the king live.
También Cusai, el arquita, amigo de David, fue a presentarse a Absalón; y dijo Cusai a Absalón: “¡Viva el rey! ¡Viva el rey!”
17 And Abessalom said to Chusi, [Is] this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not forth with thy friend?
Absalón dijo a Cusai: “¿Es esta tu piedad para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no has ido con tu amigo?”
18 And Chusi said to Abessalom, Nay, but following whom the Lord, and this people, and all Israel have chosen, —his will I be, and with him I will dwell.
Respondió Cusai a Absalón: “¡No! Yo soy de aquel a quien ha escogido Yahvé y este pueblo y todos los hombres de Israel; con ese me quedaré.
19 And again, whom shall I serve? should I not in the presence of his son? As I served in the sight of thy father, so will I be in thy presence.
Por lo demás: ¿A quién voy a servir? ¿No es a un hijo suyo? De la misma manera que he servido al padre, así te serviré a ti.”
20 And Abessalom said to Achitophel, Deliberate among yourselves concerning what we should do.
Dijo entonces Absalón a Aquitófel: “¡Dad vuestro consejo! ¿Qué debemos hacer?”
21 And Achitophel said to Abessalom, Go in to thy father's concubines, whom he left to keep his house; and all Israel shall hear that thou hast dishonoured thy father; and the hands of all that are with thee shall be strengthened.
Aquitófel respondió a Absalón: “Entra a las concubinas de tu padre; que él ha dejado para custodiar la casa; y oirá todo Israel que te has hecho odioso a tu padre; así se fortalecerán las manos de todos los que están contigo.”
22 And they pitched a tent for Abessalom on the roof, and Abessalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
Levantaron, pues, para Absalón un pabellón sobre el terrado y Absalón entró a las concubinas de su padre, viéndolo todo Israel.
23 And the counsel of Achitophel, which he counselled in former days, [was] as if one should enquire of the word of God: so [was] all the counsel of Achitophel both to David and also to Abessalom.
En aquel tiempo un consejo dado por Aquitófel era mirado como un oráculo que un hombre pedía a Dios. Así (eran estimados) todos los consejos de Aquitófel tanto por David como por Absalón.
