Kings II 12
1 And the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to David; and he went in to him, and said to him, There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.
Yahweh enviou Nathan para David. Ele veio até ele e lhe disse: “Havia dois homens em uma cidade: um rico e o outro pobre.
2 And the rich [man] had very many flocks and herds.
O homem rico tinha muitos rebanhos e rebanhos,
3 But the poor [man had] only one little ewe lamb, which he had purchased, and preserved, and reared; an it grew up with himself and his children in common; it ate of his bread and drank of his cup, and slept in his bosom, and was to him as a daughter.
mas o homem pobre não tinha nada, exceto um cordeirinho de ovelha, que ele havia comprado e criado. Ele cresceu junto com ele e com seus filhos. Comia de sua própria comida, bebia de seu próprio copo, deitava-se em seu seio e era como uma filha para ele.
4 And a traveller came to the rich man, and he spared to take of his flocks and of his herds, to dress for the traveller that came to him; and he took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that came to him.
Um viajante veio ao homem rico, e não queria pegar de seu próprio rebanho e de seu próprio rebanho para se preparar para o viajante que tinha vindo até ele, mas pegou o cordeiro do homem pobre e o preparou para o homem que tinha vindo até ele”.
5 And David was greatly moved with anger against the man; and David said to Nathan, [As] the Lord lives, the man that did this thing shall surely die.
A raiva de David queimou quente contra o homem, e ele disse a Nathan: “Como Yahweh vive, o homem que fez isso merece morrer!
6 And he shall restore the lamb seven-fold, because he has not spared.
Ele deve restaurar o cordeiro quatro vezes, porque ele fez esta coisa e porque não teve piedade”!
7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man that has done this. Thus says the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee to be king over Israel, and I rescued thee out the hand of Saul;
Nathan disse a David: “Você é o homem! Isto é o que Javé, o Deus de Israel, diz: “Eu te ungi rei sobre Israel, e te livrei da mão de Saul”.
8 and I gave thee the house of thy lord, and the wives of thy lord into thy bosom, and I gave to thee the house of Israel and Juda; and if that had been little, I would have given thee yet more.
Eu te dei a casa de teu senhor e as esposas de teu senhor em teu seio, e te dei a casa de Israel e de Judá; e se isso tivesse sido muito pouco, eu teria acrescentado a ti muitas outras coisas assim.
9 Why hast thou set at nought the word of the Lord, to do that which is evil in his eyes? thou hast slain Urias the Chettite with the sword, and thou hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and thou hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
Por que você desprezou a palavra de Javé, para fazer o que é mau aos olhos dele? Você golpeou Urias, o hitita, com a espada, tomou sua esposa para ser sua esposa e o matou com a espada dos filhos de Amon.
10 Now therefore the sword shall not depart from thy house for ever, because thou has set me at nought, and thou hast taken the wife of Urias the Chettite, to be thy wife.
Agora, portanto, a espada nunca sairá de sua casa, porque você me desprezou e tomou Uriah, a esposa do hitita, para ser sua esposa'.
11 Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will raise up against thee evil out of thy house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and will give them to thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
“Isto é o que diz Javé: “Eis que levantarei o mal contra ti de tua própria casa; e tomarei tuas esposas diante de teus olhos e as darei ao teu próximo, e ele se deitará com tuas esposas à vista deste sol”.
12 For thou didst it secretly, but I will do this thing in the sight of all Israel, and before the sun.
Pois fizestes isto em segredo, mas farei isto diante de todo Israel, e diante do sol”.
13 And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David, And the Lord has put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
David disse a Nathan: “Eu pequei contra Yahweh”. Nathan disse a David: “Yahweh também afastou seu pecado. Você não vai morrer.
14 Only because thou hast given great occasion of provocation to the enemies of the Lord by this thing, thy son also that is born to thee shall surely die.
Entretanto, porque com este ato você deu grande ocasião aos inimigos de Yahweh de blasfemar, a criança que nasceu para você certamente morrerá”.
15 And Nathan departed to his house. And the Lord smote the child, which the wife of Urias the Chettite bore to David, and it was ill.
Então Nathan partiu para sua casa. Yahweh atingiu a criança que a esposa de Uriah aborreceu para David, e ele estava muito doente.
16 And David enquired of God concerning the child, and David fasted, and went in and lay all night upon the ground.
David, portanto, implorou a Deus pela criança; e David jejuou, e entrou e passou a noite no chão.
17 And the elders of his house arose [and went] to him to raise him up from the ground, but he would not [rise], nor did he eat bread with them.
Os anciãos de sua casa se levantaram ao seu lado, para criá-lo da terra; mas ele não quis, e não comeu pão com eles.
18 And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died: and the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead; for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive we spoke to him, and he hearkened not to our voice; and thou should we tell him that the child is dead?—so would he do [himself] harm.
No sétimo dia, a criança morreu. Os criados de David tiveram medo de dizer-lhe que a criança estava morta, pois disseram: “Eis que, enquanto a criança ainda estava viva, nós falamos com ele e ele não escutou nossa voz”. Como ele então se machucará se lhe dissermos que a criança está morta”?
19 And David understood that his servants were whispering, and David perceived that the child was dead: and David said to his servants, Is the child dead? and they said, He is dead.
Mas quando David viu que seus criados estavam sussurrando juntos, David percebeu que a criança estava morta; e David disse a seus criados: “A criança está morta”? Eles disseram: “Ele está morto”.
20 Then David rose up from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his raiment, and went into the house of God, and worshipped him; and went into his own house, and called for bread to eat, and they set bread before him and he ate.
Então David levantou-se da terra, lavou-se e ungiu-se, e mudou de roupa; e entrou na casa de Yahweh, e adorou. Depois veio para sua própria casa; e quando pediu, puseram pão diante dele e ele comeu.
21 And his servants said to him, What [is] this thing that thou hast done concerning the child? while it was yet living thou didst fast, and weep, and watch: and when the child was dead thou didst rise up, and didst eat bread, and drink.
Então seus servos lhe disseram: “O que é isso que você fez? Você jejuou e chorou pela criança enquanto ela estava viva, mas quando a criança estava morta, você se levantou e comeu pão”.
22 And David said, While the child yet lived, I fasted and wept; for I said, Who knows if the Lord will pity me, and the child live?
Ele disse: “Enquanto a criança ainda estava viva, eu jejuei e chorei; pois eu disse: 'Quem sabe se Yahweh não será gracioso comigo, para que a criança possa viver?
23 But now it is dead, why should I fast thus? shall I be able to bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
Mas agora ele está morto. Por que eu deveria jejuar? Posso trazê-lo de volta? Eu irei até ele, mas ele não voltará para mim”.
24 And David comforted Bersabee his wife, and he went in to her, and lay with her; and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his named Solomon, and the Lord loved him.
David confortou Betsabá sua esposa, e foi até ela, e deitou-se com ela. Ela deu à luz um filho, e ele chamou-o de Salomão. Javé o amava;
25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Jeddedi, for the Lord's sake.
e enviou pela mão de Natã o profeta, e lhe deu o nome de Jedidias, em nome de Javé.
26 And Joab fought against Rabbath of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
Now Joab lutou contra Rabbah das crianças de Ammon, e tomou a cidade real.
27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbath, and taken the city of waters.
Joab enviou mensageiros a David, e disse: “Eu lutei contra Rabbah”. Sim, eu tomei a cidade das águas.
28 And now gather the rest of the people, and encamp against the city, an take it beforehand; lest I take the city first, and my name be called upon it.
Agora, portanto, reúnam o resto do povo, acampem-se contra a cidade e tomem-na; para que eu não tome a cidade, e ela seja chamada pelo meu nome”.
29 And David gathered all the people, and went to Rabbath, and fought against it, and took it.
David reuniu todo o povo e foi para Rabbah, lutou contra ela e a levou.
30 And he took the crown of Molchom their king from off his head, and the weight of it was a talent of gold, with precious stones, and it was upon the head of David; and he carried forth very much spoil of the city.
Ele tirou a coroa do rei deles de sua cabeça; e seu peso era um talento de ouro, e nele havia pedras preciosas; e foi colocado na cabeça de Davi. Ele trouxe uma grande quantidade de pilhagem para fora da cidade.
31 And he brought forth the people that were in it, and put them under the saw, and under iron harrows, and axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus he did to all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
Ele trouxe para fora as pessoas que estavam nela, e as colocou para trabalhar sob serras, sob picaretas de ferro, sob eixos de ferro, e as fez ir para o forno de tijolos; e o fez para todas as cidades das crianças de Ammon. Então Davi e todo o povo retornaram a Jerusalém.
