1 And it came to pass about a month after this, that Naas the Ammanite went up, and encamped against Jabis Galaad: and all the men of Jabis said to Naas the Ammanite, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
Le ɣeyiɣi sia me la, Nahas kplɔ Amonitɔwo ƒe aʋakɔ eye woho aʋa ɖe Israelviwo ƒe du Yabes Gilead ŋu. Yabestɔwo bia ŋutifafa heɖe kuku be, “Migawɔ aʋa kpli mí o; míelɔ̃ be míazu miaƒe subɔlawo boŋ.”
2 Naas the Ammanite said to them, On these terms will I make a covenant with you, that I should put out all your right eyes, and I will lay a reproach upon Israel.
Nahas ɖo eŋu be, “Ekema mawɔ nu ɖeka; maho mia dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe ƒe ɖusimeŋku abe gbɔ̃ɖiɖi Israel dukɔ blibo la ene!”
3 And the men of Jabis say to him, Allow us seven days, and we will send messengers into all the coasts of Israel: if there should be no one to deliver us, we will come out to you.
Yabes ƒe ametsitsiwo ɖo eŋu be, “Na ŋkeke adre mí ne míadɔ ame aɖo ɖe Israelnyigba blibo la dzi. Ne mía nɔviwo mava kpe ɖe mía ŋu o la, ekama míalɔ̃ ɖe wò tameɖoɖo la dzi.”
4 And the messengers came to Gabaa to Saul, and they speak the words into the ears of the people; and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
Esi dɔla aɖe va Gibea, Saul ƒe du me eye wògblɔ Yabestɔwo ƒe xaxa la ŋu nya na wo la, ame sia ame de asi avifafa me.
5 And, behold, Saul came after the early morning out of the field: and Saul said, Why does the people week? and they tell him the words of the men of Jabis.
Saul kplɔ eƒe nyiwo tso agble gbɔna va aƒe me eye wòbia be, “Nya kae dzɔ? Nu ka ta ame sia ame la avi fam?” Wogblɔ nya si wose tso Yabes la nɛ.
6 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Saul when he heard these words, and his anger was greatly kindled against them.
Mawu ƒe Gbɔgbɔ ɖiɖi ɖe Saul dzi enumake eye wòdo dɔmedzoe vevie.
7 And he took two cows, and cut them in pieces, and sent them into all the coasts of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, Whoso comes not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall they do to his oxen: and a transport from the Lord came upon the people of Israel, and they came out to battle as one man.
Ewu nyitsu eve, fli woƒe lã eye wòɖo lãkɔawo ɖe Israelnyigba ƒe akpa ɖe sia ɖe. Eɖe gbeƒã be, “Aleae woawɔ ame sia ame si madze Saul kple Samuel yome ayi aʋa o la ƒe nyitsue nye esi!” Yehowa na ameawo vɔ̃ Saul ƒe dɔmedzoe ale wo katã ƒo ƒu va Saul gbɔ.
8 And he reviews them at Bezec in Bama, every man of Israel six hundred thousand, and the men of Juda seventy thousand.
Saul xlẽ wo le Bezek eye Israelviwo le ame akpe alafa etɔ̃ kpe ɖe ame akpe blaetɔ̃ siwo tso Yuda la ŋu.
9 And he said to the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say to the men of Jabis, To-morrow ye shall have deliverance when the sun is hot; and the messengers came to the city, and told the men of Jabis, and they rejoiced.
Saul ɖo du ɖe Yabes Gileadtɔwo be, “Míaɖe mi tso miaƒe futɔwo si me hafi etsɔ ɣetrɔ naɖo!” Dua me tɔwo tso aseye esi wose nya sia.
10 And the men of Jabis said to Naas the Ammanite, To-morrow we will come forth to you, and ye shall do to us what seems good in your sight.
Ale Yabestɔwo gblɔ na woƒe futɔwo be, “Míava mia gbɔ etsɔ eye miawɔ nu sia nu si dze mia ŋu la mí.”
11 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Saul divided the people into three companies, and they go into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and they smote the children of Ammon until the day was hot; at it came to pass that those who were left were scattered, and there were not left among them two together.
Saul va do ŋdi kanya kple eƒe aʋakɔ si wòma ɖe aʋalɔgo etɔ̃ me. Edze Amonitɔwo dzi kpata eye wòwu wo tso ŋdi ma va se ɖe ŋdɔ. Ame siwo tsi agbe la kaka ale gbegbe be wo dometɔ eve aɖeke menɔ teƒe ɖeka o.
12 And the people said to Samuel, Who has said that Saul shall not reign over us? Give up the men, and we will put them to death.
Ameawo bia Samuel kple ɣli be, “Afi ka ame siwo be Saul manyo na mí o la le? Mikplɔ wo va afi sia ne míawu wo!”
13 And Saul said, No man shall die this day, for to-day the Lord has wrought deliverance in Israel.
Ke Saul gblɔ be, “Womawu ame aɖeke egbe o elabena Yehowa ɖe Israel egbe!”
14 And Samuel spoke to the people, saying, Let us go to Galgala, and there renew the kingdom.
Samuel gblɔ na ameawo be, “Mina mí katã míayi Gilgal eye míada asi ɖe Saul dzi abe míaƒe fia ene.”
15 And all the people went to Galgala, and Samuel anointed Saul there to be king before the Lord in Galgala, and there he offered meat-offerings and peace-offerings before the Lord: and Samuel and all Israel rejoiced exceedingly.
