< Kings III 13 >
1 And behold, there came a man of God out of Juda by the word of the Lord to Baethel, and Jeroboam stood at the altar to sacrifice.
2 And he cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Behold, a son is [to be] born to the house of David, Josias by name; and he shall offer upon thee the priests of the high places, [even] of them that sacrifice upon thee, and [he] shall burn men's bones upon thee.
Akĩanĩrĩra, agĩũkĩrĩra kĩgongona kĩu na ndũmĩrĩri ya Jehova, agĩkĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Wee kĩgongona gĩkĩ, kĩgongona gĩkĩ! Jehova ekuuga ũũ, ‘Nyũmba ya Daudi nĩgũgaciarwo kaana ga kahĩĩ, nako gageetwo Josia. Nako nĩgakaruta athĩnjĩrĩ-Ngai a gũkũ gũtũũgĩru igongona haha igũrũ rĩaku, o acio marutagĩra magongona haha, na mahĩndĩ ma andũ nĩmagacinĩrwo igũrũ rĩaku.’”
3 And in that day one shall give a sign, saying, This [is] the word which the Lord has spoken, saying, Behold, the altar is rent, and the fatness upon it shall be poured out.
Mũthenya o ro ũcio, mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai akĩheana kĩmenyithia, akiuga atĩrĩ: “Gĩkĩ nĩkĩo kĩmenyithia kĩrĩa Jehova onanĩtie: Kĩgongona nĩgĩgwatũkana, naguo mũhu ũrĩa ũrĩ igũrũ rĩakĩo ũitĩke.”
4 And it came to pass when king Jeroboam heard the words of the man of God who called on the altar that was in Baethel, that the king stretched forth his hand from the altar, saying, Take hold of him. And, behold, his hand, which he stretched forth against him, withered, and he could not draw it back to himself.
Rĩrĩa Mũthamaki Jeroboamu aaiguire ũrĩa mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai aanĩrĩire agokĩrĩra kĩgongona kĩu kĩarĩ Betheli, agĩtambũrũkia guoko gwake arĩ kĩgongona-inĩ, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũnyiitei!” No rĩrĩ, guoko kũu aatambũrũkĩirie mũndũ ũcio gũkĩonja, na ndangĩahotire gũgũthuna rĩngĩ.
5 And the altar was rent, and the fatness was poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God gave by the word of the Lord.
6 And king Jeroboam said to the man of God, Intreat the Lord thy God, and let my hand be restored to me. And the man of God intreated the Lord, and he restored the king's hand to him, and it became as before.
7 And the king said to the man of God, Enter with me into the house, and dine, and I will give thee a gift.
Mũthamaki akĩĩra mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai atĩrĩ, “Ũka tũthiĩ mũciĩ ũkarĩe, na nĩngũkũhe kĩheo.”
8 And the man of God said to the king, If thou shouldest give me the half of thine house, I would not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread, neither will I drink water in this place; for thus the Lord charged me by [his] word, saying,
No mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai agĩcookeria mũthamaki atĩrĩ, “O na korwo no ũhe nuthu ya indo ciaku-rĩ, niĩ ndingĩthiĩ nawe, o na ndingĩrĩa irio kana nyue maaĩ gũkũ.
9 Eat no bread, and drink no water, and return not by the way by which thou camest.
Nĩgũkorwo nĩnjathĩtwo nĩ kiugo kĩa Jehova, ngeerwo atĩrĩ, ‘Ndũkanarĩe irio, kana ũnyue maaĩ, o na kana ũcookere njĩra ĩrĩa wagereire ũgĩthiĩ.’”
10 So he departed by another way, and returned not by the way by which he came to Baethel.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩgera njĩra ĩngĩ na ndaacookeire ĩrĩa aagereire agĩthiĩ Betheli.
11 And there dwelt an old prophet in Baethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God did on that day in Baethel, and the words which he spoke to the king: and they turned the face of their father.
Na rĩrĩ, nĩ kwarĩ mũnabii mũkũrũ watũũraga Betheli, nao ariũ ake magĩũka makĩmwĩra maũndũ marĩa mothe mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai eekĩte kũu mũthenya ũcio. O na ningĩ makĩhe ithe wao ũhoro ũrĩa eerire mũthamaki.
12 And their father spoke to them, saying, Which way went he? and his sons shew him the way by which the man of God who came out of Juda went up.
Ithe wao akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Agereire njĩra ĩrĩkũ?” Nao ariũ ake makĩmuonia njĩra ĩrĩa mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai woimĩte Juda aagereire.
13 And he said to his sons, Saddle me the ass: and they saddled him the ass, and he mounted it,
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩĩra ariũ ake atĩrĩ, “Ndandĩkĩrai ndigiri.” Nao marĩkia kũmũtandĩkĩra ndigiri akĩmĩikarĩra
14 and went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said to him, Art thou the man of God that came out of Juda? And he said to him, I [am].
na akĩrũmĩrĩra mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai. Akĩmũkora aikarĩte thĩ rungu rwa mũtĩ wa mũgandi, akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩwe mũndũ wa Ngai ũrĩa uumĩte Juda?” Mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ “Ĩĩ nĩ niĩ.”
15 And he said to him, Come with me, and eat bread.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũnabii ũcio mũkũrũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũka tũthiĩ mũciĩ ũkarĩe.”
16 And he said, I shall not by any means be able to return with thee, neither will I eat bread, neither will I drink water in this place.
Mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ndingĩcooka na thuutha tũthiĩ nawe, o na ningĩ ndingĩrĩa irio kana nyuanĩre maaĩ nawe gũkũ.
17 For thus the Lord commanded me by word, saying, Eat not bread there, and drink not water, and return not thither by the way by which thou camest.
Tondũ nĩnjĩĩrĩtwo nĩ kiugo kĩa Jehova atĩrĩ, ‘Ndũkanarĩe irio kana ũnyue maaĩ kũu o na kana ũcookere njĩra ĩrĩa wagereire ũgĩthiĩ.’”
18 And he said to him, I also am a prophet as thou [art]; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back to thee into thy house, and let him eat bread and drink water: but he lied to him.
Mũnabii ũcio mũkũrũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “O na niĩ ndĩ mũnabii tawe. Mũraika nĩanjarĩirie na kiugo kĩa Jehova anjĩĩra atĩrĩ: ‘Mũgĩĩre mũcooke nake gwaku mũciĩ nĩguo arĩe irio na anyue maaĩ.’” (No nĩkũmũheenia aamũheenagia).
19 And he brought him back, and he ate bread and drank water in his house.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai agĩcooka nake gwake mũciĩ, akĩrĩa na akĩnyua.
20 And it came to pass while they were sitting at the table, that the word of the Lord came to the prophet that brought him back;
Maikarĩte o metha-inĩ kiugo kĩa Jehova gĩgĩkinyĩra mũnabii ũcio mũkũrũ ũrĩa wacooketie mũnabii wa kuuma Juda na thuutha.
21 and he spoke to the man of God that came out of Juda, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast resisted the word of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
Akĩanĩrĩra, akĩĩra mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai ũrĩa woimĩte Juda atĩrĩ, “Jehova ekuuga ũũ: ‘Nĩũreganĩte na kiugo kĩa Jehova, na ũkaaga kũrũmia watho ũrĩa waathirwo nĩ Jehova Ngai waku.
22 but hast returned, and eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he spoke to thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat bread, and shalt not drink water; [therefore] thy body shall in nowise enter into the sepulchre of thy fathers.
No nĩũcookete na thuutha, na ũkarĩa irio na ũkanyua maaĩ kũndũ kũrĩa aakwĩrire ndũkaarĩe na ndũkanyue kĩndũ kuo. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mwĩrĩ waku ndũgaathikwo mbĩrĩra-inĩ ya maithe maku.’”
23 And it came to pass after he had eaten bread and drunk water, that he saddled the ass for him, and he turned and departed.
Rĩrĩa mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai aarĩkirie kũrĩa na kũnyua-rĩ, mũnabii ũrĩa wamũcooketie na thuutha akĩmũtandĩkĩra ndigiri yake.
24 And a lion found him in the way, and slew him; and his body was cast out in the way, and the ass was standing by it, and the lion [also] was standing by the body.
Na agĩthiĩ na njĩra-rĩ, agĩtũngana na mũrũũthi ũkĩmũũraga, naguo mwĩrĩ wake ũkĩgũa thĩ hau njĩra-inĩ, nayo ndigiri na mũrũũthi cierĩ ikĩrũgama hau mwĩrĩ warĩ.
25 And, behold, men [were] passing by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion was standing near the carcase: and they went in and spoke [of it] in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
Andũ amwe arĩa maahĩtũkagĩra hau makĩona mwĩrĩ ũgũĩte hau thĩ, na mũrũũthi ũrũgamĩte o hau mwĩrĩ warĩ, nao magĩthiĩ makĩheana ũhoro ũcio itũũra-inĩ inene rĩrĩa mũnabii ũcio mũkũrũ aatũũraga.
26 And [the prophet] that turned him back out of the way heard, and said, This is the man of God who rebelled against the word of the Lord.
Rĩrĩa mũnabii ũrĩa wamũcooketie na thuutha kuuma rũgendo-inĩ rwake aiguire ũhoro ũcio, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ũcio nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa wa Ngai ũrĩa ũrareganire na kiugo kĩa Jehova. Jehova nĩamũneanĩte kũrĩ mũrũũthi ũrĩa ũmũtambuurĩte na ũkaamũũraga, o ta ũrĩa kiugo kĩa Jehova kĩamwĩrĩte.”
27 [And he spoke to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass, and they saddled it. ]
Mũnabii ũcio mũkũrũ akĩĩra ariũ ake atĩrĩ, “Ndandĩkĩrai ndigiri.” Nao magĩĩka o ũguo.
28 And he went and found the body cast in the way, and the ass and the lion were standing by the body: and the lion had not devoured the body of the man of God, and had not torn the ass.
Nake akiumagara agĩthiĩ, agĩkora mwĩrĩ ũgũithĩtio njĩra-inĩ, na mũrũũthi na ndigiri irũgamĩte o hau warĩ. Mũrũũthi ndwarĩte mwĩrĩ ũcio kana ũgatambuura ndigiri.
29 And the prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on his ass; and the prophet brought him back to his city, to bury him in his own tomb,
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũnabii ũcio akĩoya mwĩrĩ wa mũndũ ũcio wa Ngai, akĩũigĩrĩra igũrũ rĩa ndigiri, akĩũcookia itũũra-inĩ rĩake inene nĩgeetha amũcakaĩre na amũthike.
30 and they bewailed him, [saying], Alas, brother.
Nake akĩiga mwĩrĩ ũcio mbĩrĩra-inĩ yake mwene, nao makĩmũcakaĩra makiugaga atĩrĩ, “Ũũi mũrũ wa baba-ĩ!”
31 And it came to pass after he had lamented him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, Whenever I die, bury me in this tomb wherein the man of God is buried; lay me by his bones, that my bones may be preserved with his bones.
Aarĩkia kũmũthika, akĩĩra ariũ ake atĩrĩ, “Rĩrĩa ngaakua, mũgaathika mbĩrĩra-inĩ ĩno harĩa mũndũ ũyũ wa Ngai athikĩtwo; mũkaiga mahĩndĩ makwa hau mwena-inĩ wa mahĩndĩ make.
32 For the word will surely come to pass which he spoke by the word of the Lord against the altar in Baethel, and against the high houses in Samaria.
Nĩgũkorwo ũhoro ũrĩa aaheanire uumanĩte na kiugo kĩa Jehova wa gũũkĩrĩra kĩgongona kĩrĩa kĩrĩ Betheli o na mahooero mothe marĩa maarĩ kũndũ kũrĩa gũtũũgĩru thĩinĩ wa matũũra ma Samaria-rĩ, ti-itherũ ũndũ ũcio no nginya ũkaahingio.”
33 And after this Jeroboam turned not from his sin, but he turned and made of part of the people priests of the [high places]: whoever would, he consecrated him, and he became a priest for the high places.
O na thuutha wa maũndũ macio-rĩ, Jeroboamu ndaatiganire na njĩra ciake cia waganu, no aathiire na mbere kwamũra athĩnjĩri-ngai a kũndũ kũrĩa gũtũũgĩru, kuuma kũrĩ andũ a mĩthemba yothe. Mũndũ o wothe ũngĩendire gũtuĩka mũthĩnjĩri-ngai, nĩamwamũraga nĩ ũndũ wa kũndũ kũu gũtũũgĩru.
34 And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to its destruction and its removal from the face of the earth.
Macio nĩmo maarĩ mehia ma nyũmba ya Jeroboamu marĩa maatũmire ĩgwe na ĩniinwo biũ yeherio gũkũ thĩ.
