1 And king David [was] old and advanced in days, and they covered him with clothes, and he was not warmed.
Nígbà tí Dafidi ọba di arúgbó, ọjọ́ rẹ̀ sì pọ̀, ara rẹ̀ kò le è móoru bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n da ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ aṣọ bò ó.
2 And his servants said, Let them seek for the king a young virgin, and she shall wait on the king, and cherish him, and lie with him, and my lord the king shall be warmed.
Nígbà náà ni àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ wí fún un pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a wá ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin wúńdíá kan kí ó dúró ti ọba, kì ó sì máa tọ́jú rẹ̀. Kí ó dùbúlẹ̀ ní àyà rẹ̀ kí ara ọba olúwa wa lè móoru.”
3 So they sought for a fair damsel out of all the coasts of Israel; and they found Abisag the Somanite, and they brought her to the king.
Nígbà náà ni wọ́n lọ jákèjádò ilẹ̀ Israẹli láti wá ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin arẹwà, wọ́n sì rí Abiṣagi, ará Ṣunemu, wọ́n sì mú un wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba.
4 And the damsel was extremely beautiful, and she cherished the king, and ministered to him, but the king knew her not.
Ọmọbìnrin náà rẹwà gidigidi; ó sì ń ṣe ìtọ́jú ọba, ó sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún un, ṣùgbọ́n ọba kò sì bá a lòpọ̀.
5 And Adonias the son of Aggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king; and he prepared for himself chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
Adonijah ẹni tí ìyá rẹ̀ ń ṣe Haggiti sì gbé ara rẹ̀ ga, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi yóò jẹ ọba.” Ó sì ṣètò kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣin, pẹ̀lú àádọ́ta ọkùnrin láti máa sáré níwájú rẹ̀.
6 And his father never at any time checked him, saying, Why hast thou done [thus]? and he was also very handsome in appearance, and his mother bore him after Abessalom.

7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Saruia, and with Abiathar the priest, and they followed after Adonias.

8 But Sadoc the priest, and Banaeas the son of Jodae, and Nathan the prophet, and Semei, and Resi, and the mighty men of David, did not follow Adonias.

9 And Adonias sacrificed sheep and calves and lambs by the stone of Zoelethi, which was near Rogel: and he called all his brethren, and all the adult [men] of Juda, servants of the king.

10 But Nathan the prophet, and Banaeas, and the mighty [men], and Solomon his brother, he did not call.

11 And Nathan spoke to Bersabee the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonias the son of Aggith reigns, and our lord David knows it not?
Nígbà náà ni Natani béèrè lọ́wọ́ Batṣeba, ìyá Solomoni pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ kò gbọ́ pé Adonijah, ọmọ Haggiti ti jẹ ọba láìjẹ́ pé Dafidi olúwa wa mọ̀ sí i?
12 And now come, let me, I pray, give thee counsel, and thou shalt rescue thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, jẹ́ kí èmi gbà ọ́ ní ìmọ̀ràn bí ìwọ ṣe lè gba ẹ̀mí rẹ là àti ẹ̀mí ọmọ rẹ Solomoni.
13 Haste, and go in to king David, and thou shalt speak to him, saying, Hast not thou, my lord, O king, sworn to thine handmaid, saying, Thy son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then does Adonias reign?
Lọ sọ́dọ̀ Dafidi ọba, kí o sì wí fún un pé, ‘Olúwa mi ọba, ǹjẹ́ ìwọ kò búra fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ pé, “Dájúdájú Solomoni ọmọ rẹ ni yóò jọba lẹ́yìn mi, yóò sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi?” Èéṣe nígbà náà tí Adonijah fi jẹ ọba?’
14 And behold, while thou art still speaking there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and will confirm thy words.
Níwọ́n ìgbà tí ìwọ sì wà níbẹ̀, tí o sì ń bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ èmi yóò wá, láti wádìí ohun tí o ti sọ.”
15 So Bersabee went in to the king into the chamber: and the king was very old, and Abisag the Somanite was ministering to the king.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Batṣeba lọ rí ọba ní inú yàrá rẹ̀, ọba sì gbó gidigidi níbi tí Abiṣagi ará Ṣunemu ti ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún ọba.
16 And Bersabee bowed, and did obeisance to the king; and the king said, What is thy request?
Batṣeba sì tẹríba, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ níwájú ọba. Ọba sì béèrè pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ń fẹ́?”
17 And she said, My lord, thou didst swear by the Lord thy God to thine handmaid, saying, Thy son Solomon shall reign after me, and shall sit upon my throne.
Ó sì wí fún ọba pé, “Olúwa mi; ìwọ fúnra rẹ̀ fi Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ búra fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ pé, ‘Solomoni ọmọ rẹ yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn mi, yóò sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi.’
18 And now, behold, Adonias reigns, and thou, my lord, O king, knowest [it] not.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, Adonijah ti di ọba, ìwọ, ọba olúwa mi kò sì mọ̀ nípa rẹ̀.
19 And he has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander-in-chief of the host; but Solomon thy servant he has not called.
Òun sì ti fi ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ màlúù, àti ẹran tí ó ní ọ̀rá, àti àgùntàn rú ẹbọ, ó sì pe gbogbo àwọn ọmọ ọba, àti Abiatari àlùfáà àti Joabu balógun, ṣùgbọ́n kò sì pe Solomoni ìránṣẹ́ rẹ.
20 And thou, my lord, O king, —the eyes of all Israel [are] upon thee, to tell them who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king after him.
Olúwa mi ọba, ojú gbogbo Israẹli ń bẹ lára rẹ, láti mọ ẹni tí yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ olúwa mi ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ.
21 And it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and Solomon my son shall be offenders.
Bí kò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ nígbà tí olúwa mi ọba bá sùn pẹ̀lú àwọn baba rẹ̀, wọn yóò sì ka èmi àti Solomoni sí ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀.”
22 And behold, while she was yet talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came. And it was reported to the king,
Bí ó sì ti ń bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ lọ́wọ́, Natani wòlíì sì wọlé.
23 Behold, Nathan the prophet [is here]: and he came in to the king's presence, and did obeisance to the king with his face to the ground.
Wọ́n sì sọ fún ọba pé, “Natani wòlíì wà níbí.” Ó sì lọ síwájú ọba, ó wólẹ̀, ó sì dojúbolẹ̀.
24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, didst thou say, Adonias shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
Natani sì wí pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ, olúwa mi ọba, ti sọ pé Adonijah ni yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ àti pé òun ni yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ rẹ?
25 For he has gone down to-day, and has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the chiefs of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they said, [Long] live king Adonias.
Ó sì ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ ní òní, ó sì ti rú ẹbọ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ màlúù, àti ẹran ọlọ́ràá àti àgùntàn. Ó sì ti pe gbogbo àwọn ọmọ ọba, balógun àti Abiatari àlùfáà. Nísìnsinyìí, wọ́n ń jẹ, wọ́n ń mu pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì wí pé, ‘Kí Adonijah ọba kí ó pẹ́!’
26 But he has not invited me thy servant, and Sadoc the priest, and Banaeas the son of Jodae, and Solomon thy servant.
Ṣùgbọ́n èmi ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, àti Sadoku àlùfáà, àti Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, àti Solomoni ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ni kò pè.
27 Has this matter happened by the authority of my lord the king, and hast thou not made known to thy servant who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king after him?
Ṣé nǹkan yìí ni olúwa mi ọba ti ṣe láìjẹ́ kí àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ mọ ẹni tí yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ olúwa mi ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ?”
28 And king David answered and said, Call me Bersabee: and she came in before the king, and stood before him.
Nígbà náà ni Dafidi ọba wí pé, “Pe Batṣeba wọlé wá.” Ó sì wá síwájú ọba, ó sì dúró níwájú rẹ̀.
29 And the king swore, and said, [As] the Lord lives who redeemed my soul out of all affliction,
Ọba sì búra pé, “Dájúdájú bí Olúwa ti wà ẹni tí ó ti gbà mí kúrò nínú gbogbo wàhálà
30 as I swore to thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead, so will I do this day.
Lónìí dandan ni èmi yóò gbé ohun tí mo ti fi Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli búra fún yọ pé, Solomoni ọmọ rẹ ni yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn mi, àti pé yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi ní ipò mi.”
31 And Bersabee bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
Nígbà náà ni Batṣeba tẹríba, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ níwájú ọba pé, “Kí olúwa mi Dafidi ọba kí ó pẹ́!”
32 And king David said, Call me Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaeas the son of Jodae: and they came in before the king.
Dafidi ọba sì wí pé, “Ẹ pe Sadoku àlùfáà wọlé fún mi àti Natani wòlíì àti Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada.” Nígbà tí wọ́n wá síwájú ọba,
33 And the king said to them, Take the servants of your lord with you, and mount my son Solomon upon my own mule, and bring him down to Gion.
ọba sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ mú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ olúwa yín pẹ̀lú yín kí ẹ sì mú kí Solomoni ọmọ mi kí ó gun ìbáaka mi, kí ẹ sì mú un sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá sí Gihoni.
34 And there let Sadoc the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him to be king over Israel, and do ye sound the trumpet, and ye shall say, Let king Solomon live.
Níbẹ̀ ni Sadoku àlùfáà àti Natani wòlíì yóò ti fi òróró yàn án ní ọba lórí Israẹli. Ẹ fọn fèrè, kí ẹ sì ké pé, ‘Kí Solomoni ọba kí ó pẹ́!’
35 And he shall sit upon my throne, and reign in my stead: and I have given charge that he should be for a prince over Israel and Juda.
Nígbà náà ni kí ẹ sì gòkè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, kí ó sì wá, kí ó sì jókòó sórí ìtẹ́ mi, kí ó sì jẹ ọba ní ipò mi. Èmi ti yàn án ní ọba lórí gbogbo Israẹli àti Juda.”
36 And Banaeas the son of Jodae answered the king and said, So let it be: may the Lord God of my lord the king confirm [it].
Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada sì dá ọba lóhùn pé, “Àmín! Kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run olúwa mi ọba, kéde rẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀.
37 As the Lord was with my lord the king, so let him be with Solomon, and let him exalt his throne beyond the throne of my lord king David.
Bí Olúwa ti wà pẹ̀lú olúwa mi ọba, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí ó wà pẹ̀lú Solomoni kí ó lè mú kí ìjọba rẹ̀ pẹ́ ju ìtẹ́ olúwa mi Dafidi ọba lọ!”
38 And Sadoc the priest went down, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaeas son of Jodae, and the Cherethite, and the Phelethite, and they mounted Solomon upon the mule of king David, and led him away to Gion.
Nígbà náà ni Sadoku àlùfáà, Natani wòlíì, Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, àwọn ará Kereti àti Peleti sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá wọ́n sì gbé Solomoni gun ìbáaka Dafidi ọba wá sí Gihoni.
39 And Sadoc the priest took the horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon, and blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Let king Solomon live.
Sadoku àlùfáà sì mú ìwo òróró láti inú àgọ́, ó sì dà á sí Solomoni lórí. Nígbà náà ni wọ́n sì fọn fèrè, gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì ké pé, “Kí Solomoni ọba kí ó pẹ́!”
40 And all the people went up after him, and they danced in choirs, and rejoiced with great joy, and the earth quaked with their voice.
Gbogbo ènìyàn sì gòkè tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn wọ́n ń fọn ìpè, wọ́n sì ń yọ ayọ̀ ńlá, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ilẹ̀ mì fún ìró wọn.
41 And Adonias and all his guests heard, and they had [just] left off eating: and Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, and said, What [means] the voice of the city in tumult?
Adonijah àti gbogbo àwọn àlejò tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ gbọ́ ọ́ bí wọ́n ti ń jẹun tán, wọ́n ń gbọ́ ìpè, Joabu sì wí pé, “Kí ní ìtumọ̀ gbogbo ariwo nínú ìlú yìí?”
42 While he was yet speaking, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came in: and Adonias said, Come in, for thou art a mighty man, and [thou comest] to bring glad tidings.
Bí ó sì ti ń sọ̀rọ̀ lọ́wọ́, Jonatani ọmọ Abiatari àlùfáà sì dé, Adonijah sì wí pé, “Wọlé wá, ọkùnrin yíyẹ ìwọ gbọdọ̀ mú ìròyìn rere wá.”
43 And Jonathan answered and said, Verily our lord king David has made Solomon king:
Jonatani sì dáhùn, ó sì wí fún Adonijah pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni olúwa wa Dafidi ọba, fi Solomoni jẹ ọba.
44 and the king has sent with him Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaeas the son of Jodae, and the Cherethite, and the Phelethite, and they have mounted him on the king's mule;
Ọba sì ti rán Sadoku àlùfáà, Natani wòlíì, Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada àti àwọn ará Kereti àti Peleti pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti gbé e gun ìbáaka ọba,
45 and Sadoc the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him in Gion, and have gone up thence rejoicing, and the city resounded: this [is] the sound which ye have heard.
Sadoku àlùfáà àti Natani wòlíì ti fi òróró yàn án ní ọba ní Gihoni. Láti ibẹ̀ ni wọ́n ti gòkè wá pẹ̀lú ayọ̀, ìlú sì ń hó pẹ̀lú rẹ̀. Èyí ni ariwo tí ẹ̀yin ń gbọ́.
46 And Solomon is seated upon the throne of the kingdom.
Solomoni sì ti jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ ìjọba rẹ̀.
47 And the servants of the king have gone in to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne; and the king worshipped upon his bed.
Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ ọba sì ti tún wá láti bá olúwa wa Dafidi ọba yọ̀, wí pé, ‘Kí Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ mú orúkọ Solomoni lókìkí ju tirẹ̀ lọ àti kí ìtẹ́ rẹ̀ kí ó pọ̀ ju tirẹ̀ lọ!’ Ọba sì tẹ ara rẹ̀ ba lórí ibùsùn rẹ̀,
48 Moreover thus said the king, Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel, who has this day appointed one of my seed sitting on my throne, and my eyes see it.
ọba sì wí pé, ‘Ògo ni fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ẹni tí ó ti jẹ́ kí ojú mi rí ẹnìkan tí ó jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi lónìí.’”
49 And all the guests of Adonias were dismayed, and every man went his way.
Nígbà náà ni gbogbo àwọn àlejò tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ Adonijah dìde ní ìdágìrì, wọ́n sì túká.
50 And Adonias feared because of Solomon, and arose, and departed, and laid hold on the horns of the altar.
Ṣùgbọ́n Adonijah sì bẹ̀rù Solomoni, ó lọ, ó sì di ìwo pẹpẹ mú.
51 And it was reported to Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonias fears king Solomon, and holds the horns of the altar, saying, Let Solomon swear to me this day, that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
Nígbà náà ni a sì sọ fún Solomoni pé, “Adonijah bẹ̀rù Solomoni ọba, ó sì di ìwo pẹpẹ mú, Ó wí pé, ‘Jẹ́ kí ọba Solomoni búra fún mi lónìí pé, òun kì yóò fi idà pa ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀.’”
52 And Solomon said, If he should be a valiant man, there shall not a hair of his fall to the ground; but if evil be found in him, he shall die.
Solomoni sì dáhùn pé, “Bí ó bá fi ara rẹ̀ hàn láti jẹ́ ẹni ọ̀wọ̀, irun orí rẹ̀ kan kì yóò sì bọ́ sílẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n bí a bá rí búburú kan ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ òun yóò kú.”
53 And king Solomon sent, and they brought him away from the altar; and he went in and did obeisance to king Solomon: and Solomon said to him, Go to thy house.
Nígbà náà ni Solomoni ọba rán àwọn ènìyàn, wọ́n sì mú un sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ibi pẹpẹ wá. Adonijah sì wá, ó sì foríbalẹ̀ fún Solomoni ọba, Solomoni sì wí pé, “Lọ ilé rẹ.”
