Chronicles I 5
1 And the sons of Ruben the first-born of Israel (for he [was] the first-born; but because of his going up to his father's couch, [his father] gave his blessing to his son Joseph, [even] the son of Israel; and he was not reckoned as first-born;
Les fils de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël (car il était le premier-né, mais parce qu'il souilla la couche de son père, son droit d'aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d'Israël; et la généalogie ne doit pas être classée selon le droit d'aînesse.
2 for Judas [was] very mighty even among his brethren, and one was to be a ruler out of him: but the blessing [was] Joseph's).
Car Juda l'emporta sur ses frères, et c'est de lui que vint le prince; mais le droit d'aînesse appartenait à Joseph)-
3 The sons of Ruben the first-born of Israel; Enoch, and Phallus, Asrom, and Charmi.
les fils de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron et Carmi.
4 The sons of Joel; Semei, and Banaia his son: and the sons of Gug the son of Semei.
Fils de Joël: Schemaeja, son fils; Gog, son fils; Shimei, son fils;
5 His son [was] Micha, his son Recha, his son Joel,
Michée, son fils; Réaja, son fils; Baal, son fils;
6 his son Beel, whom Thagla-phallasar king of Assyria carried away captive: he [is] the chief of the Rubenites.
et Beérah, son fils, que Tilgath Pilnéser, roi d'Assyrie, emmena captif. Il était prince des Rubénites.
7 And his brethren in his family, in their distribution according to their generations; the chief, Joel, and Zacharia.
Ses frères, selon leurs familles, d'après la généalogie de leurs générations: le chef, Jeïel, et Zacharie,
8 And Balec the son of Azuz, the son of Sama, the son of Joel: he dwelt in Aroer, and even to Naban, and Beelmasson.
et Béla, fils d'Azaz, fils de Shema, fils de Joël, qui habitait à Aroër, jusqu'à Nebo et Baal Meon;
9 And he dwelt eastward to the borders of the wilderness, from the river Euphrates: for they had much cattle in the land of Galaad.
et il habitait à l'orient, jusqu'à l'entrée du désert du fleuve Euphrate, parce que leur bétail était multiplié dans le pays de Galaad.
10 And in the days of Saul they made war upon the sojourners [in the land]; and they fell into their hands, all of them dwelling in their tents eastward of Galaad.
Du temps de Saül, ils firent la guerre aux Hagrites, qui tombèrent sous leurs coups; et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes dans tout le pays situé à l'est de Galaad.
11 The sons of Gad dwelt over against them in the land of Basan even to Sela.
Les fils de Gad habitèrent à côté d'eux dans le pays de Basan jusqu'à Salca:
12 Joel the first-born, and Sapham the second, and Janin the scribe in Basan.
Joël, le chef, Schapham, le second, Janaï, et Schaphat en Basan.
13 And their brethren according to the houses of their fathers; Michael, Mosollam, and Sebee, and Joree, and Joachan, and Zue, and Obed, seven.
Leurs frères des maisons de leurs pères: Michel, Meshullam, Saba, Joraï, Jacan, Zia et Éber, au nombre de sept.
14 These [are] the sons of Abichaia the son of Uri, the son of Idai, the son of Galaad, the son of Michael, the son of Jesai, the son of Jeddai, the son of Buz,
Ce sont là les fils d'Abihail, fils de Huri, fils de Jaroah, fils de Galaad, fils de Micaël, fils de Jeshishai, fils de Jahdo, fils de Buz;
15 [who was] the brother of the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, [he was] chief of the house of their families.
Ahi, fils d'Abdiel, fils de Guni, chefs des maisons de leurs pères.
16 They dwelt in Galaad, in Basan, and in their villages, and [in] all the country round about Saron to the border.
Ils habitaient en Galaad, en Basan, et dans ses villes, et dans tous les pâturages de Saron, jusqu'à leurs limites.
17 The enumeration of [them] all took place in the days of Joatham king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
Tous ceux-là furent énumérés par des généalogies aux jours de Jotham, roi de Juda, et aux jours de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël.
18 The sons of Ruben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasse, of mighty men, bearing shields and sword, and bending the bow, and skilled in war, [were] forty and four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, going forth to battle.
Les fils de Ruben, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé, hommes vaillants, capables de porter le bouclier et l'épée, de tirer à l'arc, et habiles à la guerre, étaient au nombre de quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, aptes à faire la guerre.
19 And they made war with the Agarenes, and Itureans, and Naphiseans, and Nadabeans,
Ils firent la guerre aux Hagrites, à Jetur, à Naphish et à Nodab.
20 and they prevailed against them: and the Agaraeans were given into their hands, [they] and all their tents: for they cried to God in the battle, and he hearkened to them, because they trusted on him.
Ils furent secourus contre eux, et les Hagrites furent livrés entre leurs mains, avec tous ceux qui étaient avec eux; car ils crièrent à Dieu dans la bataille, et il les exauça, parce qu'ils avaient mis leur confiance en lui.
21 And they took captive their store; five thousand camels, and two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, two thousand asses, and a hundred thousand men.
Ils prirent leur bétail: cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille moutons, deux mille ânes, et cent mille hommes.
22 For many fell slain, because the war [was] of God. And they dwelt in their place until the captivity.
Car beaucoup tombèrent morts, parce que la guerre était de Dieu. Ils vécurent à leur place jusqu'à la captivité.
23 And the half-tribe of Manasse dwelt from Basan to Baal, Ermon, and Sanir, and [to] the mount Aermon: and they increased in Libanus.
Les enfants de la demi-tribu de Manassé habitaient dans le pays. Ils s'étendaient de Basan à Baal Hermon, à Senir et à la montagne de l'Hermon.
24 And these were the heads of the houses of their families; Opher, and Sei, and Eliel, and Jeremia, and Oduia, and Jediel, mighty men of valour, men of renown, heads of the houses of their families.
Voici les chefs des maisons de leurs pères: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jérémie, Hodavia et Jahdiel, hommes valeureux, hommes célèbres, chefs des maisons de leurs pères.
25 But they rebelled against the God of their fathers, and went a-whoring after the gods of the nations of the land, whom God cast out from before them.
Ils ont péché contre le Dieu de leurs pères et se sont prostitués aux dieux des peuples du pays que Dieu a détruits devant eux.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Phaloch king of Assyria, and the spirit of Thagla-phallasar king of Assyria, and carried away Ruben and Gaddi, and the half-tribe of Manasse, and brought them to Chaach, and Chabor, and to the river Gozan, until this day.
Le Dieu d'Israël excita l'esprit de Pul, roi d'Assyrie, et l'esprit de Tilgath Pilnéser, roi d'Assyrie, et il emmena les Rubénites, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé, et les conduisit à Halah, Habor, Hara et au fleuve de Gozan, jusqu'à ce jour.
