Zechariah 7
1 And it came about in the fourth year of King Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month Chislev.
Şi s-a întâmplat că, în anul al patrulea al împăratului Darius, cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Zaharia, în ziua a patra a lunii a noua, în luna Chislev,
2 Now they of Beth-el had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech to make a request for grace from the Lord,
Când ei trimiseseră la casa lui Dumnezeu pe Şareţer şi pe Reghem-Melec şi pe oamenii lor, pentru a se ruga înaintea DOMNULUI;
3 And to say to the priests of the house of the Lord of armies and to the prophets, Am I to go on weeping in the fifth month, separating myself as I have done in past years?
Şi să vorbească preoţilor, care erau în casa DOMNULUI oştirilor, şi profeţilor, spunând: Să plâng în luna a cincea, punându-mă deoparte, precum am făcut aceşti atât de mulţi ani?
4 Then the word of the Lord of armies came to me, saying
Atunci cuvântul DOMNULUI oştirilor a venit la mine, spunând:
5 Say to all the people of the land and to the priests, When you went without food and gave yourselves to grief in the fifth and the seventh months for these seventy years, did you ever do it because of me?
Vorbeşte întregului popor al ţării şi preoţilor, spunând: Când aţi postit şi aţi jelit în luna a cincea şi în luna a şaptea, în aceşti şaptezeci de ani, cu adevărat aţi postit pentru mine, chiar pentru mine?
6 And when you are feasting and drinking, are you not doing it only for yourselves?
Şi când aţi mâncat şi aţi băut, nu aţi mâncat şi nu aţi băut pentru voi înşivă?
7 Are not these the words which the Lord said to you by the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem was full of people and wealth, and the towns round about her and the South and the Lowland were peopled?
Nu trebuia să auziţi cuvintele pe care DOMNUL le-a strigat prin profeţii dinainte, când Ierusalimul era locuit şi în prosperitate, şi cetăţile lui de jur împrejurul lui, când oamenii locuiau partea de sud şi câmpia?
8 And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying,
Şi cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Zaharia, spunând:
9 This is what the Lord of armies has said: Let your judging be upright and done in good faith, let every man have mercy and pity for his brother:
Astfel vorbeşte DOMNUL oştirilor, spunând: Faceţi judecată adevărată şi arătaţi milă şi mângâieri, fiecare om fratelui său;
10 Do not be hard on the widow, or the child without a father, on the man from a strange country, or on the poor; let there be no evil thought in your heart against your brother.
Şi nu oprimaţi nici pe văduvă, nici pe cel fără tată, nici pe străin, nici pe cel sărac; şi nimeni dintre voi să nu îşi închipuie răul în inima sa, împotriva fratelui său.
11 But they would not give attention, turning their backs and stopping their ears from hearing;
Dar ei au refuzat să dea ascultare şi şi-au tras umărul şi şi-au astupat urechile, ca să nu audă.
12 And they made their hearts like the hardest stone, so that they might not give ear to the law and the words which the Lord of armies had said by the earlier prophets: and there came great wrath from the Lord of armies.
Da, şi-au făcut inima ca o piatră de diamant, ca nu cumva să asculte legea şi cuvintele pe care DOMNUL oştirilor le-a trimis în duhul său, prin profeţii dinainte; de aceea a venit o mare furie de la DOMNUL oştirilor.
13 And it came about that as they would not give ear to his voice, so I would not give ear to their voice, says the Lord of armies:
De aceea s-a întâmplat că, pe când el striga totuşi ei au refuzat să audă; tot astfel, ei au strigat şi eu am refuzat să aud, spune DOMNUL oştirilor;
14 But with a storm-wind I sent them in flight among all the nations of whom they had no knowledge. So the land was waste after them, so that no man went through or came back: for they had made waste the desired land.
Ci i-am împrăştiat cu un vârtej de vânt printre toate naţiunile pe care nu le cunoşteau. Astfel ţara a fost pustie după ei, încât nimeni nu trecea prin ea, nici nu se întorcea din ea; fiindcă ei au pustiit ţara cea plăcută.
