Psalms 32

1 Of David. Maschil. Happy is he who has forgiveness for his wrongdoing, and whose sin is covered.

Von David; ein Lehrgedicht. - Dem Menschen Heil, dem seine Missetat vergeben ist und dessen Sünde zugedeckt!

2 Happy is the man in whom the Lord sees no evil, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

Dem Menschen Heil, dem seine Schuld der Herr nicht länger anrechnet, in dessen Geist sich keine Täuschung findet!

3 When I kept my mouth shut, my bones were wasted, because of my crying all through the day.

Solange ich's verschwieg, verfiel mein Leib durch tägliches Gestöhn.

4 For the weight of your hand was on me day and night; my body became dry like the earth in summer. (Selah)

Denn Deine Hand lag schwer auf mir bei Tag und Nacht. Gewandelt hat sich meine Lebenskraft gleichsam in dürre Sommerfrucht. (Sela)

5 I made my wrongdoing clear to you, and did not keep back my sin. I said, I will put it all before the Lord; and you took away my wrongdoing and my sin. (Selah)

Doch als ich Dir die Schuld bekannte und meine Sünde länger nicht verhehlte, und als ich sprach: "Dem Herrn gesteh ich meine Missetaten", da nahmst Du meine Sündenschuld hinweg. (Sela)

6 For this cause let every saint make his prayer to you at a time when you are near: then the overflowing of the great waters will not overtake him.

Drum sollte jeder Fromme zu Dir flehen, sobald er etwas findet. Anstürmen mögen starke Wasserfluten, sie kommen nicht zu ihm.

7 You are my safe and secret place; you will keep me from trouble; you will put songs of salvation on the lips of those who are round me. (Selah)

Du bist mir Schutz, bewahrst mich vor dem Feinde, stellst Dich zur Seite mir mit Rettungsrufen. (Sela)

8 I will give you knowledge, teaching you the way to go; my eye will be your guide.

"Ich will dich unterweisen, will den Weg dir zeigen, auf dem du gehen sollst; ich möchte, Liebling, dich beraten.

9 Do not be like the horse or the ass, without sense; ...

Sei nicht dem unverständigen Roß und Maultier gleich! Ihr Ungestüm muß man mit Zaum und Zügel hemmen. Zieh nimmer dich zurück!"

10 The sinner will be full of trouble; but mercy will be round the man who has faith in the Lord.

Den Frevler treffen viele Plagen. Wer aber auf den Herrn vertraut, dem ist er überall mit seiner Huld zur Seite. -

11 Be glad in the Lord with joy, you upright men; give cries of joy, all you whose hearts are true.

Ihr Frommen! Freuet euch am Herrn, frohlockt! Ihr frommen Seelen alle, jauchzet!
