Psalms 124

1 A Song of the going up. Of David. If it had not been the Lord who was on our side (let Israel now say);

Se não fôra o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, ora diga Israel;

2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men came up against us;

Se não fôra o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,

3 They would have made a meal of us while still living, in the heat of their wrath against us:

Elles então nos teriam engulido vivos, quando a sua ira se accendesse contra nós.

4 We would have been covered by the waters; the streams would have gone over our soul;

Então as aguas teriam trasbordado sobre nós, e a corrente teria passado sobre a nossa alma;

5 Yes, the waters of pride would have gone over our soul.

Então as aguas altivas teriam passado sobre a nossa alma.

6 Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be wounded by their teeth.

Bemdito seja o Senhor, que não nos deu por preza aos seus dentes.

7 Our soul has gone free like a bird out of the net of those who would take her: the net is broken, and we are free.

A nossa alma escapou, como um passaro do laço dos passarinheiros; o laço quebrou-se, e nós escapámos.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

O nosso soccorro está no nome do Senhor, que fez o céu e a terra.
