< Proverbs 1 >
1 The wise sayings of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel.
Dagiti proverbio ni Solomon nga anak ni David, ti ari ti Israel.
2 To have knowledge of wise teaching; to be clear about the words of reason:
Mangisuro dagitoy a proverbio iti kinasirib ken sursuro, mangisuro kadagiti sasao iti pudno a pannakaawat,
3 To be trained in the ways of wisdom, in righteousness and judging truly and straight behaviour:
tapno maawatyo koma ti pannakailinteg tapno agbiagkayo babaen iti panangaramid iti umno, nalinteg, ken maiparbeng.
4 To make the simple-minded sharp, and to give the young man knowledge, and serious purpose:
Mangted met dagitoy a proverbio iti kinasirib kadagiti saan a nasuroan, ken mangted iti pannakaammo ken kinatimbeng kadagiti agtutubo.
5 (The wise man, hearing, will get greater learning, and the acts of the man of good sense will be wisely guided: )
Dumngeg koma dagiti nasirib a tattao ket manayunan ti pannakasursuroda, ken makagun-od koma dagiti mannakaawat a tattao iti pannakatarabay,
6 To get the sense of wise sayings and secrets, and of the words of the wise and their dark sayings.
tapno maawatanda dagiti proverbio, pagsasao, ken dagiti sasao dagiti nasirib a tattao ken dagiti burburtiada.
7 The fear of the Lord is the start of knowledge: but the foolish have no use for wisdom and teaching.
Ti panagbuteng kenni Yahweh ket isu ti pangrugian iti pannakaammo— laisen dagiti maag ti kinasirib ken disiplina.
8 My son, give ear to the training of your father, and do not give up the teaching of your mother:
Anakko, denggem dagiti sursuro ti amam, ken saanmo a baybay-an dagiti annuroten ti inam;
9 For they will be a crown of grace for your head, and chain-ornaments about your neck.
agbalindanto a makaay-ayo a balangat ti ulom ken kuwintas iti tengngedmo.
10 My son, if sinners would take you out of the right way, do not go with them.
Anakko, no awisendaka dagiti managbasol iti basolda, agkedkedka a sumurot kadakuada.
11 If they say, Come with us; let us make designs against the good, waiting secretly for the upright, without cause;
No kunaenda, “Kumuyogka kadakami, mangpadaantayo iti patayentayo, aglemmengtayo ket mangdaruptayo lattan kadagiti inosente a tattao.
12 Let us overcome them living, like the underworld, and in their strength, as those who go down to death; (Sheol )
Alun-onentayo ida a sibibiag, kas iti panangala ti sheol kadagiti nasalun-at, ket pagbalinentayo ida a kas kadagiti matmatnag iti abut. (Sheol )
13 Goods of great price will be ours, our houses will be full of wealth;
Makasaraktayo kadagiti amin a kita dagiti napapateg a banbanag; punnoentayo dagiti balbalaytayo kadagiti tinakawtayo kadagiti dadduma.
14 Take your chance with us, and we will all have one money-bag:
Makikappengka kadakami; pagbalinentayo a maymaysa ti supottayo.”
15 My son, do not go with them; keep your feet from their ways:
Anakko, saanka a makipagna kadakuada iti dayta a dalan; saanmo nga idisdiso ta sakam iti pagpagnaanda;
16 For their feet are running after evil, and they are quick to take a man's life.
tumartaray dagiti sakada iti kinadakes ken agdardarasda a mangpasayasay iti dara.
17 Truly, to no purpose is the net stretched out before the eyes of the bird:
Ta awan serserbina nga agipakatka iti iket a mangtiliw iti billit kabayatan a kumitkita ti billit.
18 And they are secretly waiting for their blood and making ready destruction for themselves.
Agpadpadaan dagitoy a tattao a mangpapatayto met laeng kadagiti mismo a bagbagida— mangipakpakatda iti palab-og para kadagiti mismo a bagbagida.
19 Such is the fate of everyone who goes in search of profit; it takes away the life of its owners.
Kasta dagiti wagas ti amin a tao a manggunggun-od kadagiti kinabaknang babaen iti kinakillo; dagiti banag a nagun-od babaen iti saan a maiparbeng a wagas ti mangpukawto kadagiti biag dagiti kumpet iti daytoy.
20 Wisdom is crying out in the street; her voice is loud in the open places;
Agpukpukkaw ti kinasirib iti kalsada, ipigpigsana ti timekna kadagiti nagtengngaan ti ili;
21 Her words are sounding in the meeting-places, and in the doorways of the town:
aglaawlaaw isuna iti nagsasabatan dagiti kalsada, iti pagserkan dagiti ruangan ti siudad ket kunkunana,
22 How long, you simple ones, will foolish things be dear to you? and pride a delight to the haters of authority? how long will the foolish go on hating knowledge?
“Dakayo nga awanan iti kinasirib, kasano pay kapaut aya ti panangay-ayatyo iti saanyo a maaw-awatan? Dakayo a mananglais, kasano pay kabayag aya ti panangragragsakyo iti pananglalaisyo, ken dakayo a maag, kasano pay kabayag aya a gurguraenyo ti kinalaing?
23 Be turned again by my sharp words: see, I will send the flow of my spirit on you, and make my words clear to you.
Denggenyo ti panangbabalawko; ibukbukkonto dagiti kapanunotak kadakayo; ipakaammokto dagiti sasaok kadakayo.
24 Because your ears were shut to my voice; no one gave attention to my out-stretched hand;
Immawagak ket saankayo a dimngeg; Inyunnatko ti imak, ngem awan ti nangikaskaso.
25 You were not controlled by my guiding, and would have nothing to do with my sharp words:
Ngem saanyo nga inkankano dagiti amin a sursurok ken saanyo nga impangag ti panangtubtubngarko.
26 So in the day of your trouble I will be laughing; I will make sport of your fear;
Katawaakto ti pannakadidigrayo, laisenkayonto inton dumteng ti panagbuteng—
27 When your fear comes on you like a storm, and your trouble like a rushing wind; when pain and sorrow come on you.
inton dumteng a kasla bagyo ti kasta unay a butengyo ket iyanginnakayo ti didigra a kas iti alipugpog, inton dumteng ti panagrigat ken panagtuok kadakayo.
28 Then I will give no answer to their cries; searching for me early, they will not see me:
Iti kasta ket awagandakto, ngem saanakto a sumungbat; kastanto unay ti panangawagda kaniak, ngem saandakto a masarakan.
29 For they were haters of knowledge, and did not give their hearts to the fear of the Lord:
Gapu ta kagurada ti pannakaammo ken saanda a pinili ti agbuteng kenni Yahweh,
30 They had no desire for my teaching, and my words of protest were as nothing to them.
saanda a sinurot ti sursurok, ken linaisda amin a panangilintegko.
31 So the fruit of their way will be their food, and with the designs of their hearts they will be made full.
Kanendanto ti bunga dagiti aramidda, ket mapnekdanto babaen iti bunga dagiti panggepda.
32 For the turning back of the simple from teaching will be the cause of their death, and the peace of the foolish will be their destruction.
Mapapatayto dagiti saan a nasuroan inton tumallikudda, ket ti di panangikaskaso dagiti maag ti mangdadaelto kadakuada.
33 But whoever gives ear to me will take his rest safely, living in peace without fear of evil.
Ngem ti siasinoman a dumngeg kaniak ket agbiagto a sitatalged ken aginananto a sitatalged nga awanan iti panagbuteng iti didigra.”
