< Proverbs 9 >

1 Wisdom has made her house, putting up her seven pillars.
Ũũgĩ nĩakĩte nyũmba yake; nĩaicũhĩtie itugĩ ciayo mũgwanja.
2 She has put her fat beasts to death; her wine is mixed, her table is ready.
Nĩahaarĩirie nyama, na akahaarĩria ndibei, o na akaara metha yake.
3 She has sent out her women-servants; her voice goes out to the highest places of the town, saying,
Nĩatũmĩte ndungata ciake cia airĩtu nja, na nĩaretana arĩ harĩa hatũũgĩru mũno itũũra-inĩ rĩrĩa inene, akoiga atĩrĩ:
4 Whoever is simple, let him come in here; and to him who has no sense, she says:
“Andũ arĩa othe matarĩ na ũũgĩ nĩmoke gũkũ!” Ningĩ akeera andũ arĩa maagĩĩte ũtaũku atĩrĩ,
5 Come, take of my bread, and of my wine which is mixed.
Ũkai mũrĩe irio ciakwa, na mũnyue ndibei ĩrĩa ndĩmũthondekeire.
6 Give up the simple ones and have life, and go in the way of knowledge.
Tiganai na mĩthiĩre yanyu ĩtarĩ ya ũũgĩ, na nĩmũgũtũũra muoyo; cookai gũthiiaga na njĩra ya ũtaũku.
7 He who gives teaching to a man of pride gets shame for himself; he who says sharp words to a sinner gets a bad name.
“Ũrĩa wothe ũtaaraga mũnyũrũrania eĩtagĩria irumi; na ũrĩa wothe ũkaanagia mũndũ mwaganu egĩĩragĩra njono.
8 Do not say sharp words to a man of pride, or he will have hate for you; make them clear to a wise man, and you will be dear to him.
Ndũkanataare mũnyũrũrania, nĩguo ndagagũthũũre; kaania mũndũ mũũgĩ, nake nĩegũkwenda.
9 Give teaching to a wise man, and he will become wiser; give training to an upright man, and his learning will be increased.
Taara mũndũ mũũgĩ na nĩegũkĩrĩrĩria kũũhĩga; mũndũ mũthingu mũrute, na nĩekuongerera ũũgĩ wake.
10 The fear of the Lord is the start of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One gives a wise mind
“Kĩambĩrĩria kĩa ũũgĩ nĩ gwĩtigĩra Jehova, na kũmenya Ũrĩa Mũtheru nĩkuo gũtaũkĩrwo.
11 For by me your days will be increased, and the years of your life will be long.
Nĩgũkorwo nĩ ũndũ wakwa matukũ maku nĩmakaingĩha, na wongererwo mĩaka ya gũtũũra muoyo.
12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if your heart is full of pride, you only will have the pain of it.
Ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ mũũgĩ-rĩ, ũũgĩ waku nĩũgakũguna; na ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ mũnyũrũrania-rĩ, we nowe ũkaanyariirĩka.”
13 The foolish woman is full of noise; she has no sense at all.
Mũndũ-wa-nja ũrĩa wĩtagwo Mũkĩĩgu nĩ wa inegene; we ndarĩ mũtugo, na ndarĩ ũmenyo.
14 Seated at the door of her house, in the high places of the town,
Aikaraga thĩ mũrango-inĩ wa nyũmba yake, agaikarĩra gĩtĩ harĩa hatũũgĩru mũno itũũra-inĩ rĩrĩa inene,
15 Crying out to those who go by, going straight on their way, she says:
ageetaga arĩa marehĩtũkĩra, arĩa marethiĩra na njĩra ciao.
16 Whoever is simple, let him come in here: and to him who is without sense, she says:
Ameeraga atĩrĩ, “Andũ arĩa othe matarĩ na ũũgĩ nĩmoke gũkũ!” Nao arĩa maagĩĩte ũtaũku akameera atĩrĩ:
17 Drink taken without right is sweet, and food in secret is pleasing.
“Maaĩ ma kũiya marĩ mũrĩo; o na irio iria irĩĩagĩrwo hitho-inĩ irĩ cama!”
18 But he does not see that the dead are there, that her guests are in the deep places of the underworld. (Sheol h7585)
No andũ acio matikoragwo makĩmenya atĩ arĩa akuũ marĩ kũu, na atĩ ageni ake marĩ o kũrĩa kũriku mbĩrĩra-inĩ. (Sheol h7585)
