Proverbs 4
1 Give ear, my sons, to the teaching of a father; give attention so that you may have knowledge:
௧பிள்ளைகளே, நீங்கள் தகப்பன் போதகத்தைக் கேட்டு, புத்தியை அடையும்படி கவனியுங்கள்.
2 For I give you good teaching; do not give up the knowledge you are getting from me.
௨நான் உங்களுக்கு நற்போதகத்தைத் தருகிறேன்; என் உபதேசத்தை விடாதிருங்கள்.
3 For I was a son to my father, a gentle and an only one to my mother.
௩நான் என்னுடைய தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமான மகனும், என்னுடைய தாய்க்கு மிகவும் அருமையான ஒரே பிள்ளையுமானவன்.
4 And he gave me teaching, saying to me, Keep my words in your heart; keep my rules so that you may have life:
௪அவர் எனக்குப் போதித்துச் சொன்னது: உன்னுடைய இருதயம் என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் காத்துக்கொள்வதாக; என்னுடைய கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொள், அப்பொழுது பிழைப்பாய்.
5 Get wisdom, get true knowledge; keep it in memory, do not be turned away from the words of my mouth.
௫ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி, புத்தியையும் சம்பாதி; என்னுடைய வாயின் வார்த்தைகளை மறக்காமலும் விட்டு விலகாமலும் இரு.
6 Do not give her up, and she will keep you; give her your love, and she will make you safe.
௬அதை விடாதே, அது உன்னைத் தற்காக்கும்; அதின்மேல் பிரியமாக இரு, அது உன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
7 The first sign of wisdom is to get wisdom; go, give all you have to get true knowledge.
௭ஞானமே முக்கியம், ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி; என்னத்தைச் சம்பாதித்தாலும் புத்தியைச் சம்பாதித்துக்கொள்.
8 Put her in a high place, and you will be lifted up by her; she will give you honour, when you give her your love.
௮நீ அதை மேன்மைப்படுத்து, அது உன்னை மேன்மைப்படுத்தும்; நீ அதைத் தழுவிக்கொண்டால், அது உனக்கு மரியாதை செலுத்தும்.
9 She will put a crown of grace on your head, giving you a head-dress of glory.
௯அது உன்னுடைய தலைக்கு அலங்காரமான கிரீடத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்; அது மகிமையான கிரீடத்தை உனக்குச் சூட்டும்.
10 Give ear, O my son, and let your heart be open to my sayings; and long life will be yours.
௧0என் மகனே, கேள், என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன்னுடைய ஆயுளின் வருடங்கள் அதிகமாகும்.
11 I have given you teaching in the way of wisdom, guiding your steps in the straight way.
௧௧ஞானவழியை நான் உனக்குப் போதித்தேன்; செவ்வையான பாதைகளிலே உன்னை நடத்தினேன்.
12 When you go, your way will not be narrow, and in running you will not have a fall.
௧௨நீ அவைகளில் நடக்கும்போது உன்னுடைய நடைகளுக்கு இடுக்கண் உண்டாவதில்லை; நீ அவைகளில் ஓடினாலும் இடறமாட்டாய்.
13 Take learning in your hands, do not let her go: keep her, for she is your life.
௧௩புத்திமதியை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிக்கொள், அதை விட்டுவிடாதே; அதைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதுவே உனக்கு உயிர்.
14 Do not go in the road of sinners, or be walking in the way of evil men.
௧௪துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய பாதையில் நுழையாதே; தீயோர்களுடைய வழியில் நடக்காதே.
15 Keep far from it, do not go near; be turned from it, and go on your way.
௧௫அதை வெறுத்துவிடு, அதின் வழியாகப் போகாதே; அதைவிட்டு விலகிக் கடந்துபோ.
16 For they take no rest till they have done evil; their sleep is taken away if they have not been the cause of someone's fall.
௧௬தீங்கு செய்யாமல் அவர்களுக்கு தூக்கம் வராது; அவர்கள் யாரையாவது விழச்செய்யாமல் இருந்தால் அவர்களுடைய தூக்கம் கலைந்துபோகும்.
17 The bread of evil-doing is their food, the wine of violent acts their drink.
௧௭அவர்கள் துன்மார்க்கத்தின் அப்பத்தைச் சாப்பிட்டு, கொடுமையின் இரசத்தைக் குடிக்கிறார்கள்.
18 But the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day.
௧௮நீதிமான்களுடைய பாதை நடுப்பகல்வரைக்கும் அதிகமதிகமாகப் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப்பிரகாசம்போல இருக்கும்.
19 The way of sinners is dark; they see not the cause of their fall.
௧௯துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய பாதையோ காரிருளைப்போல இருக்கும்; தாங்கள் எதினால் இடறுகிறோம் என்பதை அறியமாட்டார்கள்.
20 My son, give attention to my words; let your ear be turned to my sayings.
௨0என் மகனே, என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனி; என்னுடைய வசனங்களுக்கு உன்னுடைய செவியைச் சாய்.
21 Let them not go from your eyes; keep them deep in your heart.
௨௧அவைகள் உன்னுடைய கண்களைவிட்டுப் பிரியாமல் இருப்பதாக; அவைகளை உன்னுடைய இருதயத்திற்குள்ளே காத்துக்கொள்.
22 For they are life to him who gets them, and strength to all his flesh.
௨௨அவைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு அவைகள் உயிரும், அவர்களுடைய உடலுக்கெல்லாம் ஆரோக்கியமுமாம்.
23 And keep watch over your heart with all care; so you will have life.
௨௩எல்லாக் காவலோடும் உன்னுடைய இருதயத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதிலிருந்து ஜீவஊற்று புறப்படும்.
24 Put away from you an evil tongue, and let false lips be far from you.
௨௪வாயின் தாறுமாறுகளை உன்னைவிட்டு அகற்றி, உதடுகளின் மாறுபாட்டை உனக்குத் தூரப்படுத்து.
25 Keep your eyes on what is in front of you, looking straight before you.
௨௫உன்னுடைய கண்கள் நேராக நோக்குவதாக; உன்னுடைய கண்ணின் இமைகள் உனக்கு முன்னே செவ்வையாகப் பார்க்கட்டும்.
26 Keep a watch on your behaviour; let all your ways be rightly ordered.
௨௬உன்னுடைய நடைகளைச் சீர்தூக்கிப்பார்; உன்னுடைய வழிகளெல்லாம் பத்திரப்பட்டிருக்கட்டும்.
27 Let there be no turning to the right or to the left, keep your feet from evil.
௨௭வலதுபுறமோ இடதுபுறமோ சாயாதே; உன்னுடைய காலைத் தீமைக்கு விலக்கு.
