Leviticus 24
1 And the Lord said to Moses,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
2 Give orders to the children of Israel to give you clean olive oil for the light, so that a light may be burning at all times,
"Ordonne aux enfants d’Israël de te choisir une huile pure d’olives concassées, pour le luminaire, afin d’alimenter les lampes en permanence.
3 Outside the veil of the ark in the Tent of meeting; let Aaron see that it is burning from evening till morning at all times before the Lord: it is a rule for ever through all your generations.
C’Est en dehors du voile qui abrite le Statut, dans la Tente d’assignation, qu’Aaron les entretiendra depuis le soir jusqu’au matin, devant l’Éternel, constamment: règle perpétuelle pour vos générations.
4 Let Aaron put the lights in order on the support before the Lord at all times.
C’Est sur le candélabre d’or pur qu’il entretiendra ces lampes, devant l’Éternel, constamment.
5 And take the best meal and make twelve cakes of it, a fifth part of an ephah in every cake.
Tu prendras aussi de la fleur de farine, et tu en cuiras douze gâteaux, chaque gâteau contenant deux dixièmes.
6 And put them in two lines, six in a line, on the holy table before the Lord.
Tu les disposeras en deux rangées, six par rangée, sur la table d’or pur, devant l’Éternel.
7 And on the lines of cakes put clean sweet-smelling spices, for a sign on the bread, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Tu mettras sur chaque rangée de l’encens pur, qui servira de mémorial aux pains, pour être brûlé en l’honneur de l’Éternel.
8 Every Sabbath day regularly, the priest is to put it in order before the Lord: it is offered for the children of Israel, an agreement made for ever.
Régulièrement chaque jour de sabbat, on les disposera devant l’Éternel, en permanence, de la part des enfants d’Israël: c’est une alliance perpétuelle.
9 And it will be for Aaron and his sons; they are to take it for food in a holy place: it is the most holy of all the offerings made by fire to the Lord, a rule for ever.
Ce pain appartiendra à Aaron et à ses fils, qui le mangeront en lieu saint; car c’est une chose éminemment sainte, qui lui revient sur les offrandes de l’Éternel, comme portion invariable."
10 And a son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel and had a fight with a man of Israel by the tents;
Il arriva que le fils d’une femme israélite, lequel avait pour père un Egyptien, était allé se mêler aux enfants d’Israël; une querelle s’éleva dans le camp, entre ce fils d’une Israélite et un homme d’Israël.
11 And the son of the Israelite woman said evil against the holy Name, with curses; and they took him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
Le fils de la femme israélite proféra, en blasphémant, le Nom sacré; on le conduisit devant Moïse. Le nom de sa mère était Chelomith, fille de Dibri, de la tribu de Dan.
12 And they kept him shut up, till a decision might be given by the mouth of the Lord.
On le mit en lieu sûr, jusqu’à ce qu’une décision intervînt de la part de l’Éternel.
13 And the Lord said to Moses,
Et l’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse:
14 Take the curser outside the tent-circle; and let all in whose hearing the words were said put their hands on his head, and let him be stoned by all the people.
"Qu’on emmène le blasphémateur hors du camp; que tous ceux qui l’ont entendu imposent leurs mains sur sa tête, et que toute la communauté le lapide.
15 And say to the children of Israel, As for any man cursing God, his sin will be on his head.
Parle aussi aux enfants d’Israël en ces termes: quiconque outrage son Dieu portera la peine de son crime.
16 And he who says evil against the name of the Lord will certainly be put to death; he will be stoned by all the people; the man who is not of your nation and one who is an Israelite by birth, whoever says evil against the holy Name is to be put to death.
Pour celui qui blasphème nominativement l’Éternel, il doit être mis à mort, toute la communauté devra le lapider; étranger comme indigène, s’il a blasphémé nominativement, il sera puni de mort.
17 And anyone who takes another's life is certainly to be put to death.
Si quelqu’un fait périr une créature humaine, il sera mis à mort.
18 And anyone wounding a beast and causing its death, will have to make payment for it: a life for a life.
S’Il fait périr un animal, il le paiera, corps pour corps.
19 And if a man does damage to his neighbour, as he has done, so let it be done to him;
Et si quelqu’un fait une blessure à son prochain, comme il a agi lui-même on agira à son égard:
20 Wound for wound, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; whatever damage he has done, so let it be done to him.
fracture pour fracture, œil pour œil, dent pour dent; selon la lésion qu’il aura faite à autrui, ainsi lui sera-t-il fait.
21 He who puts a beast to death will have to make payment for it; he who puts a man to death will himself be put to death.
Qui tue un animal doit le payer, et qui tue un homme doit mourir.
22 You are to have the same law for a man of another nation living among you as for an Israelite; for I am the Lord your God.
Même législation vous régira, étrangers comme nationaux; car je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu à tous."
23 And Moses said these words to the children of Israel, and they took the man who had been cursing outside the tent-circle and had him stoned. The children of Israel did as the Lord gave orders to Moses.
Moïse le redit aux enfants d’Israël. On emmena le blasphémateur hors du camp, et on le tua à coups de pierres; et les enfants d’Israël firent comme l’Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse.
