Job 32
1 So these three men gave no more answers to Job, because he seemed to himself to be right.
Alors ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu’il se croyait toujours juste.
2 And Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was angry, burning with wrath against Job, because he seemed to himself more right than God;
Mais Eliu, fils de Barachel, le Buzite, de la famille de Ram, s’irrita et s’indigna; or il s’irrita contre Job, de ce qu’il disait qu’il était juste devant Dieu.
3 And he was angry with his three friends, because they had been unable to give him an answer, and had not made Job's sin clear.
Puis il s’indigna contre ses amis, de ce qu’ils n’avaient pas trouvé de réponse raisonnable contre Job, mais que seulement ils l’avaient condamné.
4 Now Elihu had kept quiet while Job was talking, because they were older than he;
Ainsi Eliu attendit tant que Job parla, parce que ceux qui parlèrent étaient plus âgés que lui.
5 And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, he was very angry.
Mais lorsqu’il eut vu que les trois n’avaient pu répondre, il fut vivement irrité.
6 And Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, made answer and said, I am young, and you are very old, so I was in fear, and kept myself from putting my knowledge before you.
Répondant donc, Eliu, fils de Barachel, le Buzite, dit: Je suis le plus jeune, et vous, vous êtes plus âgés, c’est pourquoi, la tête baissée, je n’ai pas osé manifester mon sentiment.
7 I said to myself, It is right for the old to say what is in their minds, and for those who are far on in years to give out wisdom.
Car j’espérais qu’un âge aussi avancé parlerait, et qu’une multitude d’années enseignerait la sagesse.
8 But truly it is the spirit in man, even the breath of the Ruler of all, which gives them knowledge.
Mais, comme je le vois, l’Esprit est dans les hommes et l’inspiration du Tout-Puissant donne l’intelligence.
9 It is not the old who are wise, and those who are full of years have not the knowledge of what is right.
Ce ne sont pas ceux qui ont vécu longtemps qui sont sages, et ce ne sont pas les vieillards qui comprennent la justice.
10 So I say, Give ear to me, and I will put forward my knowledge.
C’est pourquoi je parlerai: Ecoutez-moi, je vous montrerai, moi aussi, ma sagesse.
11 I was waiting for your words, I was giving ear to your wise sayings; while you were searching out what to say,
Car j’ai attendu vos discours; j’ai écouté pour voir quelle était votre prudence, tant que vous avez fait assaut de discours.
12 I was taking note; and truly not one of you was able to make clear Job's error, or to give an answer to his words.
Et tant que je pensais que vous diriez quelque chose, j’étais attentif; mais, comme je le vois, il n’y a personne de vous qui puisse convaincre Job et répondre à ses discours.
13 Take care that you do not say, Wisdom is here; God may overcome him, but not man.
N’allez pas dire: Nous avons trouvé la sagesse; Dieu l’a rejeté et non un homme.
14 I will not put forward words like these, or make use of your sayings in answer to him.
Il ne m’a rien dit, et pour moi, ce ne sera pas selon vos discours que je lui répondrai.
15 Fear has overcome them, they have no more answers to give; they have come to an end of words.
Ils ont été épouvantés, ils n’ont plus répondu, ils se sont ôté à eux-mêmes la parole.
16 And am I to go on waiting while they have nothing to say? while they keep quiet and give no more answers?
Puisque donc j’ai attendu, et qu’ils n’ont point parlé; qu’ils se sont arrêtés, et qu’ils n’ont plus répondu,
17 I will give my answer; I will put forward my knowledge:
Je parlerai moi aussi pour ma part, et je montrerai ma science.
18 For I am full of words, I am unable to keep in my breath any longer:
Car je suis plein de discours, et une force me presse au dedans de moi.
19 My stomach is like wine which is unable to get out; like skins full of new wine, it is almost burst.
Voilà que mon estomac est comme un vin nouveau qui, sans air, rompt les outres neuves,
20 Let me say what is in my mind, so that I may get comfort; let me give answer with open mouth.
Je parlerai et je respirerai un peu; j’ouvrirai mes lèvres.
21 Let me not give respect to any man, or give names of honour to any living.
Je ne ferai acception de personne, et je n’égalerai pas Dieu à un homme.
22 For I am not able to give names of honour to any man; and if I did, my Maker would quickly take me away.
Car je ne sais combien de temps je subsisterai, et si dans peu mon Créateur ne m’enlèvera point.
