Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the sign that the things not seen are true.
१विश्वास हा आशा धरलेल्या गोष्टींविषयीचा भरवसा आणि न दिसणाऱ्या गोष्टीबद्दलची खात्री असा आहे.
2 For by it our fathers had God's approval.
२विश्वासाच्या बाबतीत आमच्या पूर्वजांविषयी साक्ष देण्यात आली.
3 By faith it is clear to us that the order of events was fixed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made from things which only seem to be. (aiōn g165)
३विश्वासाने आपल्याला समजते की, देवाच्या शब्दाने विश्व निर्माण झाले; म्हणजे ज्या गोष्टी दिसतात त्या दृश्य गोष्टींपासून झाल्या नाहीत. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith Abel made a better offering to God than Cain, and he had witness through it of his righteousness, God giving his approval of his offering: and his voice still comes to us through it though he is dead.
४विश्वासाने, हाबेलाने काइनापेक्षा अधिक चांगले बलिदान देवाला अर्पण केले; त्याद्वारे तो नीतिमान आहे अशी त्याच्याविषयी साक्ष देण्यात आली कारण देवाने त्याच्या अर्पणाविषयी साक्ष दिली आणि त्याद्वारे तो मरण पावला असताही अजूनही बोलतो.
5 By faith Enoch was taken up to heaven so that he did not see death; he was seen no longer, for God took him away: for before he was taken, witness had been given that he was well-pleasing to God:
५हनोखाला मरणाचा अनुभव घेऊ नये म्हणून, त्यास विश्वासाने लोकांतरी नेण्यात आले; आणि तो कोठे सापडला नाही, कारण देवाने त्यास नेले. त्यास लोकांतरी नेण्यापूर्वी त्याच्याविषयी अशी साक्ष देण्यात आली की, तो देवाला संतोषवीत असे.
6 And without faith it is not possible to be well-pleasing to him, for it is necessary for anyone who comes to God to have the belief that God is, and that he is a rewarder of all those who make a serious search for him.
६पण विश्वासाशिवाय त्यास संतोषवणे अशक्य आहे, कारण जो त्याच्याकडे येतो त्याने विश्वास ठेवला पाहिजे की, तो आहे आणि जे त्यास झटून शोधतात त्यांना प्रतिफळ देणारा आहे.
7 By faith Noah, being moved by the fear of God, made ready an ark for the salvation of his family, because God had given him news of things which were not seen at the time; and through it the world was judged by him, and he got for his heritage the righteousness which is by faith.
७विश्वासाने, नोहाने, पूर्वी कधी न दिसलेल्या गोष्टींविषयी त्यास सूचना मिळाल्याप्रमाणे, आदराने भय धरून, आपले कुटुंब तारण्यासाठी विश्वासाने तारू बांधले; आणि त्याद्वारे त्याने जगाला दोषी ठरवले आणि विश्वासाने प्राप्त होणार्‍या नीतिमत्त्वाचा तो वारीस झाला.
8 By faith Abraham did as God said when he was ordered to go out into a place which was to be given to him as a heritage, and went out without knowledge of where he was going.
८विश्वासाने, अब्राहामाने, त्यास जे ठिकाण वतन मिळणार होते तिकडे जाण्यास त्यास बोलवण्यात आले तेव्हा आज्ञा मानली. तो कोठे जाणार होता हे त्यास माहीत नसताना तो निघाला.
9 By faith he was a wanderer in the land of the agreement, as in a strange land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who had a part with him in the same heritage:
९विश्वासाने, तो वचनदत्त देशात, जणू परदेशात प्रवासी म्हणून राहिला; आणि त्याच वतनात त्याचे जोडीचे वारीस इसहाक व याकोब ह्यांच्याबरोबर तो डेर्‍यात वस्ती होती.
10 For he was looking for the strong town, whose builder and maker is God.
१०कारण, ज्याचा योजणारा व बांधणारा देव आहे अशा नगराची अब्राहाम वाट पाहत होता.
11 And by faith Sarah herself had power to give birth, when she was very old, because she had faith in him who gave his word;
११विश्वासाने, सारेलाही, ती स्वतः वयातीत झाली असता गर्भधारणेची क्षमता मिळाली; कारण ज्याने वचन दिले त्यास तिने विश्वसनीय मानले.
12 So that from one man, who was near to death, came children in number as the stars in heaven, or as the sand by the seaside, which may not be numbered.
१२म्हणून केवळ एकापासून आणि अशा मृतवत झालेल्या पासून संख्येने आकाशातील तार्‍यांप्रमाणे, समुद्राच्या किनार्‍यावरील वाळूप्रमाणे असंख्य संतती निर्माण झाली.
13 All these came to their end in faith, not having had the heritage; but having seen it with delight far away, they gave witness that they were wanderers and not of the earth.
१३हे सगळे विश्वासात टिकून मरण पावले; त्यांना वचनांची प्राप्ती झाली नव्हती. पण त्यांनी ती दुरून बघून त्यांना वंदन केले आणि त्यांनी मानले की, आपण पृथ्वीवर परके आणि प्रवासी आहोत.
14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are searching for a country for themselves.
१४कारण, असे जे म्हणतात ते स्वतःचा देश मिळवू पाहत आहेत हे ते दाखवतात.
15 And truly if they had kept in mind the country from which they went out, they would have had chances of turning back.
१५आणि खरोखर, ते ज्या देशातून निघाले होते त्याचा ते विचार करीत असते, तर तिकडे परत जाण्याची संधी त्यांना मिळाली असती.
16 But now their desire is for a better country, that is to say, for one in heaven; and so it is no shame to God to be named their God; for he has made ready a town for them.
१६पण आता, ते अधिक चांगल्या देशाची म्हणजे स्वर्गीय देशाची इच्छा धरतात, ह्यामुळे आपणाला त्यांचा देव म्हणून घेण्यास देवाला त्यांची लाज वाटत नाही कारण त्याने त्यांच्यासाठी एक नगर तयार केले आहे.
17 By faith Abraham made an offering of Isaac, when he was tested: and he with whom the agreement had been made gave up as an offering the only son of his body,
१७अब्राहामाने, त्याची परीक्षा केली जात असता विश्वासाने, इसहाकाचे अर्पण केले; म्हणजे, ज्याने वचने स्वीकारली होती तो आपला एकुलता एक मुलगा अर्पिला.
18 Of whom it had been said, From Isaac will your seed take their name:
१८त्याच्याविषयी हे म्हणले होते की, ‘इसहाकाच्याच वंशाला तुझे संतान म्हणतील.’
19 Judging that God was able to give life even to the dead; and because of this he did get him back as if from death.
१९तरी, देव त्यास मरण पावलेल्यातून उठवायलादेखील समर्थ आहे असे त्याने मानले. तो त्यास तेथून, जणू लाक्षणिक अर्थाने, परतही मिळाला.
20 By faith Isaac, blessing Jacob and Esau, gave news of things to come.
२०इसहाकाने, याकोबाला व एसावाला येणार्‍या गोष्टींविषयी विश्वासाने, आशीर्वाद दिला.
21 By faith Jacob gave a blessing to the two sons of Joseph, when he was near to death; and gave God worship, supported by his stick.
२१याकोबाने मरतेवेळी योसेफाच्या प्रत्येक मुलाला विश्वासाने, आशीर्वाद दिला व आपल्या काठीच्या टोकावर टेकून नमन केले.
22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, said that the children of Israel would go out of Egypt; and gave orders about his bones.
२२विश्वासाने, योसेफाने, मरतेवेळी, इस्राएलाच्या संतानाच्या निघण्याविषयी सूचना केली व आपल्या अस्थींविषयी आज्ञा दिली.
23 By faith Moses was kept secretly by his father and mother for three months after his birth, because they saw that he was a fair child; and they had no fear of the king's orders.
२३विश्वासाने, मोशे जन्मल्यावर, त्यास त्याच्या आई-वडीलांनी तीन महिने लपवून ठेवले; कारण मूल सुंदर आहे हे त्यांनी बघितले व त्यांना राजाच्या आज्ञेचे भय वाटले नाही.
24 By faith Moses, when he became a man, had no desire to be named the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
२४मोशेने, विश्वासाने, तो मोठा झाल्यावर फारोच्या कन्येचा मुलगा म्हणवण्याचे नाकबूल केले.
25 Feeling that it was better to undergo pain with the people of God, than for a short time to have a taste of the pleasures of sin;
२५पापांची क्षणिक सुखे भोगण्यापेक्षा देवाच्या लोकांबरोबर दुःख सोसणे त्याने पसंत केले,
26 Judging a part in the shame of Christ to be better than all the wealth of Egypt; for he was looking forward to his reward.
२६आणि ख्रिस्ताप्रीत्यर्थ विटंबना सोसणे हे मिसरातील भांडारापेक्षा मोठे धन मानले; कारण श्रमांबद्दल मिळणाऱ्या वेतनावर त्याची दृष्टी होती.
27 By faith he went out of Egypt, not being turned from his purpose by fear of the wrath of the king; for he kept on his way, as seeing him who is unseen.
२७विश्वासाने राजाच्या क्रोधाला न भिता त्याने मिसर देश सोडला; कारण जो अदृश्य आहे त्यास पाहत असल्याप्रमाणे तो ठाम राहिला.
28 By faith he kept the Passover, and put the sign of the blood on the houses, so that the angel of destruction might not put their oldest sons to death.
२८विश्वासाने त्याने वल्हांडण व रक्तसिंचन हे विधी पाळले, ते ह्यासाठी की, प्रथम जन्मलेल्यांना मारणार्‍याने त्यांना शिवू नये.
29 By faith they went through the Red Sea as if it had been dry land, though the Egyptians were overcome by the water when they made an attempt to do the same.
२९विश्वासाने ते तांबड्या समुद्रामधून, कोरड्या जमिनीवरून गेल्याप्रमाणे गेले व मिसरी तसे करण्याच्या प्रयत्नात बुडून मरण पावले.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho came down, after they had been circled for seven days.
३०विश्वासाने, त्यांनी सात दिवस, यरीहोच्या तटासभोवती फेऱ्या घातल्यावर ते तट पडले.
31 By faith Rahab, the loose woman, was not put to death with those who had gone against God's orders, because she had taken into her house in peace those sent to see the land.
३१विश्वासाने राहाब वेश्या ही अवज्ञा करणार्‍या इतरांबरोबर नाश पावली नाही; कारण तिने शांतीने हेरांचे स्वागत केले होते.
32 What more am I to say? For there would not be time to give the stories of Gideon, Barak, Samson, and Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets:
३२आता मी अधिक काय सांगू? गिदोन, बाराक, शमशोन आणि इफ्ताह, तसेच दावीद व शमुवेल आणि संदेष्टे यांच्याविषयी मी सांगू लागलो तर मला वेळ अपुरा पडेल.
33 Who through faith overcame kingdoms, did righteousness, got their reward, kept the mouths of lions shut,
३३विश्वासाने त्यांनी राज्ये जिंकली, नीतिमत्त्व आचरली, वचने मिळवली, सिंहाची तोंडे बंद केली.
34 Put out the power of fire, got safely away from the edge of the sword, were made strong when they had been feeble, became full of power in war, and put to flight the armies of the nations.
३४त्यांनी अग्नीची शक्ती संपवली, तलवारीच्या धारेपासून ते निभावले, अशक्तपणात सशक्त झाले, युद्धात पराक्रमी झाले, त्यांनी परक्यांची सैन्ये पळवली.
35 Women had their dead given back to them living; others let themselves be cruelly attacked, having no desire to go free, so that they might have a better life to come;
३५कित्येक स्त्रियांना त्यांचे मरण पावलेले, पुन्हा जिवंत होऊन, परत मिळाले आणि कित्येकांनी अधिक चांगले पुनरुत्थान मिळवण्यास आपली सुटका न पतकरल्यामुळे त्यांचे हाल हाल करण्यात आले.
36 And others were tested by being laughed at or by blows, and even with chains and prisons:
३६आणखी दुसर्‍यांनी टवाळक्यांचा व तसाच फटक्यांचा, शिवाय बेड्यांचा व बंदिवासाचा अनुभव घेतला.
37 They were stoned, they were cut up with knives, they were tested, they were put to death with the sword, they went about in sheepskins and in goatskins; being poor and in pain and cruelly attacked,
३७त्यांना दगडमार केला गेला, त्यांना करवतीने कापले, त्यांची परीक्षा केली गेली, ते तलवारीने मारले गेले आणि दुरावलेले, नाडलेले व पीडलेले होऊन ते मेंढरांची व शेरड्यांची कातडी पांघरून भटकले.
38 Wandering in waste places and in mountains and in holes in the rocks; for whom the world was not good enough.
३८जग त्यांच्यासाठी लायक नव्हते ते रानांमधून, डोंगरांमधून, गुहांमधून व जमिनीमधील खंदकामधून फिरत राहिले.
39 And not one of these got the good things of the agreement, though they all had a good record through faith,
३९या सर्वांनी विश्वासाद्वारे साक्ष मिळवली असे असता त्यांना वचन प्राप्त झाले नाही.
40 Because God had kept some better thing for us, so that it was not possible for them to become complete without us.
४०कारण ते आपल्याशिवाय पूर्ण केले जाऊ नयेत अशी देवाच्या दृष्टीपुढे आपल्यासाठी अधिक चांगली गोष्ट होती.
