< Habakkuk 1 >
1 The word which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
Tahmaa Habakkuk mah hnuk ih lok loe hae tiah oh.
2 How long, O Lord, will your ears be shut to my voice? I make an outcry to you about violent behaviour, but you do not send salvation.
Aw Angraeng, nasetto maw kang kawk moe, kang kawkhaih lok tahngai ai ah na oh han vop? Tha hoi kang kawk naah doeh, nang pahlong ai!
3 Why do you make me see evil-doing, and why are my eyes fixed on wrong? for wasting and violent acts are before me: and there is fighting and bitter argument.
Tih hanah kahoih ai hmuen to nang patuek moe, raihaih to nang hnuksak loe? Lomhaih hoi raihaih ka hma ah oh moe, lokpunghaih hoi angzoehhaih to pop.
4 For this reason the law is feeble and decisions are not effected: for the upright man is circled round by evil-doers; because of which right is twisted.
To pongah ukhaih daan loe thazok boeh, toenghaih doeh hmabang caeh thai ai boeh: kasae kami mah katoeng kami to ven khoep pongah, amsoem ai lokcaekhaih to hmacawn lat boeh.
5 See among the nations, and take note, and be full of wonder: for in your days I am doing a work in which you will have no belief, even if news of it is given to you.
Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk thungah kaom hmuen to khen oh loe, poek o noek ah! Paroeai dawnrai hoiah om oh; thuih cadoeh, tang han ai ah nangcae ih adung thungah tok ka sak han.
6 For see, I am sending the Chaldaeans, that bitter and quick-moving nation; who go through the wide spaces of the earth to get for themselves living-places which are not theirs.
Khenah, tahmenhaih tawn ai, tha patoh hoi toksak koeh acaeng, Khaldian kaminawk to kang thawksak boeh, nihcae loe angmacae ih prae na ai prae kalah to lak hanah, prae thung boih ah caeh o tih.
7 They are greatly to be feared: their right comes from themselves.
Nihcae loe zit kaom kami ah oh o; nihcae lokcaekhaih hoi ukhaih daan doeh angmacae koeh baktiah ni sak o.
8 And their horses are quicker than leopards and their horsemen more cruel than evening wolves; they come from far away, like an eagle in flight rushing on its food.
Nihcae ih hrang loe kaithlaeng pongah rang o kue moe, aduem bang ih tasui pongah hmawsaeng o kue: hrang angthueng kaminawk loe angthla parai ahmuen hoiah angzoh o, toe nihcae loe moi caa tahmu kazawk baktiah a zawk o tih.
9 They are coming all of them with force; the direction of their faces is forward, the number of their prisoners is like the sands of the sea.
Nihcae loe athii longsak hanah angzo o boih tih; nihcae ih mikhmai loe ni angyae bang ih takhi baktiah oh, nihcae mah misong ah naeh ih kaminawk to savuet baktiah angpop o sak.
10 He makes little of kings, rulers are a sport to him; all the strong places are to be laughed at; for he makes earthworks and takes them.
Siangpahrangnawk to pahnui o thui tih, ukkung angraengnawk doeh khet kamcuk ai ah sah o tih: vangpui thung ih misa pakaahaihnawk to pahnui o thui tih, long tangprih to tapop o ueloe, vangpui to la o tih.
11 Then his purpose will be changed, over-stepping the limit; he will make his strength his god.
To pacoengah a poekhaih to amkhraih ueloe, anghmaa o boih tih; kazae kaminawk loe angmacae thacakhaih to sithaw baktiah pakoeh o.
12 Are you not eternal, O Lord my God, my Holy One? for you there is no death. O Lord, he has been ordered by you for our punishment; and by you, O Rock, he has been marked out to put us right.
Aw Angraeng kai ih Sithaw, kaciim kai ih Sithaw, nang loe dungzan ah hing na ai maw? Kaicae loe ka dueh o mak ai. Aw Angraeng, lok takroek hanah nihcae to na caksak boeh; Aw thacak Sithaw, nihcae thuitaek hanah na caksak boeh.
13 Before your holy eyes sin may not be seen, and you are unable to put up with wrong; why, then, are your eyes on the false? why do you say nothing when the evil-doer puts an end to one who is more upright than himself?
Na mik loe ciim moe, kasae khet hanah na koeh ai: tipongah aling thaih kaminawk to na khet loe? Tipongah kazae kami mah angmah pong katoeng kaminawk to paaeh naah, na khet sut loe?
14 He has made men like the fishes of the sea, like the worms which have no ruler over them.
Tipongah long kaminawk to ukkung tawn ai, tuipui ih tanganawk baktih, zok hoi kavak moinawk baktiah na sak loe?
15 He takes them all up with his hook, he takes them in his net, getting them together in his fishing-net: for which cause he is glad and full of joy.
Misanawk mah nihcae to cakoih hoiah tathok o, palok hoiah naeh o pacoengah, palok pui hoiah a ruet o. To pongah nihcae loe poeknawm o parai moe, anghoe o.
16 For this reason he makes an offering to his net, burning perfume to his fishing-net; because by them he gets much food and his meat is fat.
To pongah nihcae loe angmacae ih palok khaeah hmuen tathlanghaih to sak o moe, palok pui taengah hmuihoih to a thlaek o, nihcae loe tahamhoih o moe, caaknaek pop parai ah a tawnh o.
17 For this cause his net is ever open, and there is no end to his destruction of the nations.
Nihcae loe palok pong ih tanga to khringh o boih ueloe, tahmenhaih tawn ai ah prae kaminawk to hum o poe tih maw?
