Genesis 25
1 And Abraham took another wife named Keturah.
অব্রাহাম অন্য আর এক স্ত্রীকে বিয়ে করে আনলেন, যাঁর নাম কটুরা।
2 She became the mother of Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah.
তাঁর জন্য কটুরা সিম্রণ, যকষণ, মদান, মিদিয়ন, যিষবক ও শূহের জন্ম দিলেন।
3 And Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. And from Dedan came the Asshurim and Letushim and Leummim.
যক্ষণ শিবা এবং দদানের বাবা; অশূরীয়, লটূশীয় ও লিয়ূম্মীয়রা হল দদানের বংশধর।
4 And from Midian came Ephah and Epher and Hanoch and Abida and Eldaah. All these were the offspring of Keturah.
মিদিয়নের ছেলেরা হল ঐফা, এফর, হনোক, অবীদ ও ইলদায়া। এরা সবাই কটূরার বংশধর।
5 Now Abraham gave all his property to Isaac;
অব্রাহাম তাঁর অধিকারে থাকা সবকিছু ইস্হাককে দিলেন।
6 But to the sons of his other women he gave offerings, and sent them away, while he was still living, into the east country.
কিন্তু বেঁচে থাকাকালীনই অব্রাহাম তাঁর উপপত্নীদের ছেলেদের উপহারসামগ্রী দিলেন এবং তাঁর ছেলে ইস্হাকের কাছ থেকে তাদের দূরে সরিয়ে দিয়ে পূর্বদেশে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।
7 Now the years of Abraham's life were a hundred and seventy-five.
অব্রাহাম 175 বছর বেঁচেছিলেন।
8 And Abraham came to his death, an old man, full of years; and he was put to rest with his people.
পরে অব্রাহাম শেষনিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করলেন এবং যথেষ্ট বৃদ্ধাবস্থায়, বৃদ্ধ ও পূর্ণায়ূ মানুষরূপে মারা গেলেন; এবং তিনি তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে মিলিত হলেন।
9 And Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, put him to rest in the hollow rock of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, near Mamre;
তাঁর ছেলে ইস্হাক ও ইশ্মায়েল তাঁকে হিত্তীয় সোহরের ছেলে ইফ্রোণের ক্ষেতে অবস্থিত মম্রির নিকটবর্তী মক্পেলা গুহাতে কবর দিলেন।
10 The same field which Abraham got from the children of Heth: there Abraham was put to rest with Sarah, his wife.
সেই ক্ষেতটি অব্রাহাম হিত্তীয়দের কাছ থেকে কিনে নিয়েছিলেন। সেখানেই অব্রাহাম ও তাঁর স্ত্রী সারা সমাধিস্থ হলেন।
11 Now after the death of Abraham, the blessing of God was with Isaac, his son.
অব্রাহামের মৃত্যুর পর, ঈশ্বর তাঁর সেই ছেলে ইস্হাককে আশীর্বাদ করলেন, যিনি তখন বের-লহয়-রোয়ীর কাছে বসবাস করছিলেন।
12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, whose mother was Hagar the Egyptian, the servant of Sarah:
এই হল অব্রাহামের ছেলে সেই ইশ্মায়েলের বংশবৃত্তান্ত, যাঁকে সারার ক্রীতদাসী, মিশরীয়া হাগার, অব্রাহামের জন্য জন্ম দিয়েছিল।
13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael by their generations: Ishmael's first son was Nebaioth; then Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam
এই হল ইশ্মায়েলের ছেলেদের নাম, যা তাদের জন্মের ক্রমানুসারে নথিভুক্ত করা হয়েছে: ইশ্মায়েলের বড়ো ছেলে নবায়োৎ, পরে কেদর, অদবেল, মিবসম,
14 And Mishma and Dumah and Massa,
মিশমা, দুমা, মসা,
15 Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
হদদ, তেমা, যিটূর, নাফীশ ও কেদমা।
16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names in their towns and their tent-circles; twelve chiefs with their peoples.
এরাই ইশ্মায়েলের সন্তান, এবং তাদের উপনিবেশ ও শিবির অনুসারে এই হল বারোজন গোষ্ঠী-শাসকদের নাম।
17 And the years of Ishmael's life were a hundred and thirty-seven: and he came to his end, and was put to rest with his people.
ইশ্মায়েল 137 বছর বেঁচেছিলেন। তিনি শেষনিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করে মারা গেলেন, এবং তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে মিলিত হলেন।
18 And their country was from Havilah to Shur which is east of Egypt: they took their place to the east of all their brothers.
তাঁর বংশধরেরা আসিরিয়ার দিকে মিশরের পূর্বসীমার কাছাকাছি অবস্থিত হবীলা থেকে শূর পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত এলাকায় বসতি স্থাপন করল। তারা তাদের দূর-সম্পর্কের আত্মীয়-গোষ্ঠীদের প্রতি শত্রুতাভাব বজায় রেখে বসবাস করে যাচ্ছিল।
19 Now these are the generations of Abraham's son Isaac:
এই হল অব্রাহামের ছেলে ইস্হাকের পারিবারিক বংশবৃত্তান্ত। অব্রাহাম ইস্হাকের বাবা হলেন,
20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean of Paddan-aram, and the sister of Laban the Aramaean, to be his wife.
এবং ইস্হাক চল্লিশ বছর বয়সে সেই রিবিকাকে বিয়ে করলেন, যিনি পদ্দন-আরামের বাসিন্দা অরামীয় বথূয়েলের মেয়ে এবং অরামীয় লাবনের বোন।
21 Isaac made prayer to the Lord for his wife because she had no children; and the Lord gave ear to his prayer, and Rebekah became with child.
ইস্হাক তাঁর স্ত্রীর হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন, কারণ রিবিকা নিঃসন্তান ছিলেন। সদাপ্রভু তাঁর প্রার্থনার উত্তর দিলেন, এবং তাঁর স্ত্রী রিবিকা গর্ভবতী হলেন।
22 And the children were fighting together inside her, and she said, If it is to be so, why am I like this? So she went to put her question to the Lord.
শিশুরা রিবিকার গর্ভে একে অপরকে ধাক্কা দিচ্ছিল, এবং তিনি বললেন, “আমার ক্ষেত্রে কেন এমন ঘটছে?” অতএব তিনি সদাপ্রভুর কাছে খোঁজ নিতে গেলেন।
23 And the Lord said to her, Two nations are in your body, and two peoples will come to birth from you: the one will be stronger than the other, and the older will be the servant of the younger.
সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে বললেন, “তোমার গর্ভে দুই জাতি আছে, এবং তোমার মধ্য থেকেই দুই বংশ পৃথক হবে; এক বংশ অন্য বংশ থেকে বেশি শক্তিশালী হবে, এবং বড়ো ছেলে ছোটো ছেলের সেবা করবে।”
24 And when the time came for her to give birth, there were two children in her body.
সন্তান প্রসবের সময়কাল ঘনিয়ে এলে দেখা গেল তাঁর গর্ভে যমজ সন্তান।
25 And the first came out red from head to foot like a robe of hair, and they gave him the name of Esau.
প্রথমে যে ভূমিষ্ঠ হল, তার গায়ের রং ছিল লাল, এবং তার সারা শরীর ছিল লোমশ পোশাকের মতো; তাই তাঁরা তার নাম দিলেন এষৌ।
26 And after him, his brother came out, gripping Esau's foot; and he was named Jacob: Isaac was sixty years old when she gave birth to them.
পরে, তার সেই ভাই বেরিয়ে এল, যার হাত এষৌর গোড়ালি ধরে রেখেছিল; তাই তার নাম দেওয়া হল যাকোব। রিবিকা যখন তাদের জন্ম দেন তখন ইস্হাকের বয়স 60 বছর।
27 And the boys came to full growth; and Esau became a man of the open country, an expert bowman; but Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.
ছেলেরা বেড়ে উঠেছিল, এবং এষৌ এমন এক নিপুণ শিকারি হয়ে উঠছিল, যিনি বাড়ির বাইরে ঘুরে বেড়াতেন, অন্যদিকে যাকোব ঘরের ভিতরে তাঁবুর মধ্যেই থাকতে পছন্দ করতেন।
28 Now Isaac's love was for Esau, because Esau's meat was greatly to his taste: but Rebekah had more love for Jacob.
যিনি শিকার করা পশুর মাংস খেতে পছন্দ করতেন, সেই ইস্হাক এষৌকে ভালোবাসতেন, কিন্তু রিবিকা যাকোবকে ভালোবাসতেন।
29 And one day Jacob was cooking some soup when Esau came in from the fields in great need of food;
একবার যাকোব যখন খানিকটা ঝোল-তরকারী রান্না করছিলেন, এষৌ তখন মাঠ থেকে ক্ষুধার্ত অবস্থায় ফিরে এলেন।
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Give me a full meal of that red soup, for I am overcome with need for food: for this reason he was named Edom.
তিনি যাকোবকে বললেন, “তাড়াতাড়ি আমাকে লাল রংয়ের ওই ঝোল-তরকারী থেকে কিছুটা খেতে দাও! আমি ক্ষুধার্ত!” (এই জন্য তাঁকে ইদোম নামেও ডাকা হয়।)
31 And Jacob said, First of all give me your birthright.
যাকোব উত্তর দিলেন, “প্রথমে তুমি আমার কাছে তোমার জ্যেষ্ঠাধিকার বিক্রি করো।”
32 And Esau said, Truly, I am at the point of death: what profit is the birthright to me?
দেখো, আমি প্রায় মরতে চলেছি, “এষৌ বললেন। জ্যেষ্ঠাধিকার আমার কী কাজে লাগবে?”
33 And Jacob said, First of all give me your oath; and he gave him his oath, handing over his birthright to Jacob.
কিন্তু যাকোব বললেন, “প্রথমে আমার কাছে শপথ করো।” অতএব এষৌ তাঁর কাছে শপথ করলেন, তাঁর জ্যেষ্ঠাধিকার যাকোবের কাছে বিক্রি করে দিলেন।
34 Then Jacob gave him bread and soup; and he took food and drink and went away, caring little for his birthright.
পরে যাকোব এষৌকে কয়েকটি রুটি ও মশুরি দিয়ে তৈরি কিছুটা ঝোল-তরকারী দিলেন। তিনি ভোজনপান করলেন, ও পরে উঠে চলে গেলেন। অতএব এষৌ তাঁর জ্যেষ্ঠাধিকার হেয় জ্ঞান করলেন।
