Genesis 18
1 Now the Lord came to him by the holy tree of Mamre, when he was seated in the doorway of his tent in the middle of the day;
౧మమ్రే అనే ప్రాంతంలో సింధూర చెట్ల దగ్గర ఒక మధ్యాహ్నం వేళ అబ్రాహాము తన గుడారం వాకిట్లో కూర్చుని ఉన్నాడు. అప్పుడు యెహోవా అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యాడు.
2 And lifting up his eyes, he saw three men before him; and seeing them, he went quickly to them from the door of the tent, and went down on his face to the earth;
౨అతడు తలెత్తి చూసినప్పుడు ముగ్గురు మనుషులు అతని ముందు నిలబడి ఉన్నారు. అతడు వారిని చూసి తన గుడారం వదిలి వారిని కలుసుకోవడానికి పరుగెత్తుకుంటూ వెళ్ళాడు. వారి ఎదుట నేల వరకూ వంగి ఇలా అన్నాడు.
3 And said, My Lord, if now I have grace in your eyes, do not go away from your servant:
౩“ప్రభూ, నీ దాసుడనైన నాపై దయ చూపి నన్ను దాటి వెళ్ళకండి. నాతో రండి.
4 Let me get water for washing your feet, and take your rest under the tree:
౪నేను నీళ్ళు తెప్పిస్తాను. వాటితో మీ కాళ్ళు కడుక్కోండి. చెట్టు కింద విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోండి.
5 And let me get a bit of bread to keep up your strength, and after that you may go on your way: for this is why you have come to your servant. And they said, Let it be so.
౫మీ దాసుడినైన నా దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు కదా, కొంచెం ఆహారం తీసుకు వస్తాను. దాన్ని తిని సేద దీర్చుకోండి. ఆ తరువాత మీ దారిన మీరు వెళ్ళవచ్చు.” అందుకు వారు “నువ్వు చెప్పినట్టే చెయ్యి” అన్నారు.
6 Then Abraham went quickly into the tent, and said to Sarah, Get three measures of meal straight away and make cakes.
౬అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము వెంటనే గుడారంలో ఉన్న శారా దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళి “నువ్వు త్వరగా 21 కిలోల మెత్తటి పిండి తెచ్చి కలిపి రొట్టెలు చెయ్యి” అన్నాడు.
7 And running to the herd, he took a young ox, soft and fat, and gave it to the servant and he quickly made it ready;
౭తరువాత అబ్రాహాము పశువుల మంద దగ్గరికి పరుగెత్తి ఒక మంచి లేగ దూడను పట్టుకు వచ్చి ఒక పనివాడికి ఇచ్చాడు. వాడు త్వరత్వరగా దాన్నివధించి వండి సిద్ధం చేశాడు.
8 And he took butter and milk and the young ox which he had made ready and put it before them, waiting by them under the tree while they took food.
౮తరువాత అతడు పెరుగూ, పాలూ వాటితోపాటు తాను వండించి సిద్ధం చేయించిన దూడ మాంసాన్ని తెచ్చి వాళ్ళ ముందు పెట్టాడు. వాళ్ళు భోజనం చేస్తుంటే అక్కడే ఆ చెట్టు కిందే నిలబడ్డాడు.
9 And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, She is in the tent.
౯వారు అతణ్ణి “నీ భార్య ఎక్కడ?” అని అడిగారు. అతడు “అదిగో, గుడారంలో ఉంది” అన్నాడు.
10 And he said, I will certainly come back to you in the spring, and Sarah your wife will have a son. And his words came to the ears of Sarah who was at the back of the tent-door.
౧౦అప్పుడు ఆయన “తిరిగి వసంతకాలంలో నేను మళ్ళీ నీ దగ్గరికి తప్పకుండా వస్తాను. విను, అప్పటికి నీ భార్య శారాకు ఒక కొడుకు ఉంటాడు” అన్నాడు. శారా ఆయన వెనుక ఉన్న గుడారం ద్వారం దగ్గర ఉండి ఈ మాటలు వింటూ ఉంది.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were very old, and Sarah was past the time for giving birth.
౧౧అప్పటికి అబ్రాహాము శారాలు వయసు ఉడిగిపోయి ముసలివాళ్ళయ్యారు. శారాకు పిల్లలను కనే వయసు దాటిపోయింది.
12 And Sarah, laughing to herself, said, Now that I am used up am I still to have pleasure, my husband himself being old?
౧౨శారా “నా బలమంతా పోయింది. ఈ సుఖం నాకెలా కలుగుతుంది? నా యజమాని అయిన నా భర్త కూడా ముసలివాడయ్యాడు కదా” అనుకుని తనలో తాను నవ్వుకుంది.
13 And the Lord said, Why was Sarah laughing and saying, Is it possible for me, being old, to give birth to a child?
౧౩అప్పుడు యెహోవా అబ్రాహాముతో “శారా ‘ముసలిదాన్ని అయిన నేను నిజంగా బిడ్డను కనగలనా’ అనుకుని ఎందుకు నవ్వింది?
14 Is there any wonder which the Lord is not able to do? At the time I said, in the spring, I will come back to you, and Sarah will have a child.
౧౪యెహోవాకు సాధ్యం కానిది ఏమైనా ఉందా? నేను నిర్ణయించిన కాలంలో మళ్ళీ నీ దగ్గరికి వస్తాను. వచ్చే సంవత్సరం ఇదే సమయానికి శారాకు ఒక కొడుకు ఉంటాడు” అన్నాడు.
15 Then Sarah said, I was not laughing; for she was full of fear. And he said, No, but you were laughing.
౧౫అప్పుడు శారా భయపడి “నేను నవ్వలేదండీ” అంది. దానికి ఆయన “అలా అనకు, నువ్వు నవ్వావు” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
16 And the men went on from there in the direction of Sodom; and Abraham went with them on their way.
౧౬అప్పుడు ఆ మనుషులు అక్కడనుండి వెళ్ళడానికి లేచారు. లేచి సొదొమ పట్టణం వైపు చూసారు. వారిని సాగనంపడానికి అబ్రాహాము వారితో కలిసి వెళ్ళాడు.
17 And the Lord said, Am I to keep back from Abraham the knowledge of what I do;
౧౭కానీ యెహోవా ఇలా అనుకున్నాడు. “అబ్రాహాము కచ్చితంగా ఒక బలమైన గొప్ప జాతి అవుతాడు.
18 Seeing that Abraham will certainly become a great and strong nation, and his name will be used by all the nations of the earth as a blessing?
౧౮అతని మూలంగా భూమిపై అన్ని జాతులూ ఆశీర్వాదం పొందుతాయి. నేను చేయబోతున్న పనులను అబ్రాహాముకు తెలియకుండా ఎలా దాచగలను?
19 For I have made him mine so that he may give orders to his children and those of his line after him, to keep the ways of the Lord, to do what is good and right: so that the Lord may do to Abraham as he has said.
౧౯అతని తరువాత అతని వారసులు నీతి న్యాయాలను జరిగించేలా వారికి యెహోవా మార్గాన్ని బోధించడానికీ తద్వారా అబ్రాహాముకు ఆయన చెప్పిన విషయాలన్నీ జరిగించడానికీ నేను అబ్రాహామును ఎన్నుకున్నాను.”
20 And the Lord said, Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is very great, and their sin is very evil,
౨౦అప్పుడు యెహోవా ఇలా అన్నాడు. “సొదొమ గొమొర్రాలను గూర్చిన విన్నపాలు కుప్పలు తెప్పలుగా ఉన్నాయి. అలాగే వాటి పాపం కూడా చాలా ఘోరం. కనుక
21 I will go down now, and see if their acts are as bad as they seem from the outcry which has come to me; and if they are not, I will see.
౨౧నేను దిగి వెళ్ళి నాకు చేరిన ఆ విన్నపం ప్రకారం వాళ్ళు అంత దుర్మార్గులా కాదా అన్నది చూస్తాను. లేకపోతే నాకు తెలుస్తుంది.”
22 And the men, turning from that place, went on to Sodom: but Abraham was still waiting before the Lord.
౨౨ఆ మనుషులు అక్కడనుండి వెళ్ళడానికి తిరిగి సొదొమ వైపుగా వెళ్ళారు. కానీ అబ్రాహాము ఇంకా యెహోవా సముఖంలోనే నిలబడి ఉన్నాడు.
23 And Abraham came near, and said, Will you let destruction come on the upright with the sinners?
౨౩అప్పడు అబ్రాహాము వారిని సమీపించి ఇలా అడిగాడు. “దుర్మార్గులతో పాటు నీతిమంతులను కూడా నాశనం చేస్తావా?
24 If by chance there are fifty upright men in the town, will you give the place to destruction and not have mercy on it because of the fifty upright men?
౨౪ఆ పట్టణంలో ఒకవేళ యాభైమంది నీతిమంతులు ఉంటే ఆ యాభైమంది నీతిమంతుల కోసం పట్టణాన్ని నాశనం చేయకుండా రక్షించలేవా?
25 Let such a thing be far from you, to put the upright to death with the sinner: will not the judge of all the earth do right?
౨౫నీతిమంతులకూ దుర్మార్గులకూ ఒకే రకంగా తీర్పు తీర్చడం నీకు దూరమౌతుంది గాక. అలాగే దుర్మార్గులతో పాటుగా నీతిమంతులను నాశనం చేయడం నీకు దూరమౌతుంది గాక! సర్వలోకానికీ తీర్పు తీర్చేవాడు న్యాయం చెయ్యడా?”
26 And the Lord said, If there are fifty upright men in the town, I will have mercy on it because of them.
౨౬దానికి యెహోవా “సొదొమ పట్టణంలో యాభైమంది నీతిమంతులు నాకు కనిపిస్తే వాళ్ళ కోసం ఆ ప్రదేశాన్నంతా కాపాడతాను” అన్నాడు.
27 And Abraham answering said, Truly, I who am only dust, have undertaken to put my thoughts before the Lord:
౨౭అందుకు అబ్రాహాము “అయ్యా చూడు, నేను దుమ్ముతో, బూడిదతో సమానం. అయినా నేను ప్రభువుతో మాట్లాడే సాహసం చేస్తున్నాను.
28 If by chance there are five less than fifty upright men, will you give up all the town to destruction because of these five? And he said, I will not give it to destruction if there are forty-five.
౨౮యాభై మంది నీతిమంతుల్లో ఒకవేళ ఐదుగురు తక్కువయ్యారనుకోండి. ఐదుగురు తక్కువయ్యారని ఆ పట్టణమంతటినీ నాశనం చేస్తావా?” అని మళ్ళీ అడిగాడు. అందుకాయన “అక్కడ నలభై ఐదుగురు కనిపిస్తే నాశనం చేయను” అన్నాడు.
29 And again he said to him, By chance there may be forty there. And he said, I will not do it if there are forty.
౨౯అతడు మళ్ళీ ఆయనతో మాట్లాడుతూ “ఒకవేళ అక్కడ నలభై మందే కనిపిస్తారేమో” అన్నాడు. దానికి ఆయన “ఆ నలభై మంది కోసం నాశనం చేయను” అని చెప్పాడు.
30 And he said, Let not the Lord be angry with me if I say, What if there are thirty there? And he said, I will not do it if there are thirty.
౩౦అతడు మళ్ళీ “ప్రభూ, నాపై కోప్పడనంటే నేను మాట్లాడతాను. ఒకవేళ ముప్ఫై మందే అక్కడ కనిపిస్తారేమో” అన్నాడు. అప్పుడాయన “ముప్ఫై మంది కనిపించినా నేను పట్టణాన్ని నాశనం చేయను” అన్నాడు.
31 And he said, See now, I have undertaken to put my thoughts before the Lord: what if there are twenty there? And he said, I will have mercy because of the twenty.
౩౧అందుకు అతడు “నా ప్రభువుతో మాట్లాడే సాహసం చేస్తున్నాను. ఒకవేళ ఇరవైమందే ఉంటారేమో” అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు ప్రభువు “ఆ ఇరవైమంది కోసం నాశనం చేయను” అన్నాడు.
32 And he said, O let not the Lord be angry and I will say only one word more: by chance there may be ten there. And he said, I will have mercy because of the ten.
౩౨చివరిగా అతడు “ప్రభూ, నాపై కోపగించకు. నేనింకా ఒక్కసారే మాట్లాడతాను. ఒకవేళ పదిమందే అక్కడ ఉన్నారేమో” అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు ప్రభువు “పదిమంది కోసం నేను ఆ పట్టణాన్ని నాశనం చేయను” అన్నాడు.
33 And the Lord went on his way when his talk with Abraham was ended, and Abraham went back to his place.
౩౩అబ్రాహాముతో మాటలు ముగిసిన వెంటనే యెహోవా వెళ్ళిపోయాడు. అబ్రాహాము తన ఇంటికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళాడు.
