Genesis 10
1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: these are the sons which they had after the great flow of waters
Ketiga anak laki-laki Nuh adalah Sem, Yafet, dan Ham. Sesudah peristiwa banjir berlalu, mereka masing-masing memiliki banyak anak laki-laki.
2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer and Magog and Madai and Javan and Tubal and Meshech and Tiras.
Anak-anak Yafet bernama Gomer, Magog, Madai, Yawan, Tubal, Mesek, dan Tiras.
3 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz and Riphath and Togarmah.
Anak-anak Gomer bernama Askenas, Rifat, dan Togarma.
4 And the sons of Javan: Elishah and Tarshish, the Kittim and the Dodanim.
Anak-anak Yawan bernama Elisa, Tarsis, Kit, dan Dodan.
5 From these came the nations of the sea-lands, with their different families and languages.
Merekalah yang menjadi nenek moyang orang-orang yang tinggal di daerah pesisir dan pulau-pulau di Laut Tengah. Mereka tersebar dan menetap di daerah masing-masing menurut suku, bangsa, dan bahasa mereka.
6 And the sons of Ham: Cush and Mizraim and Put and Canaan.
Anak-anak Ham bernama Kus, Mesir, Put, dan Kanaan.
7 And the sons of Cush: Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabteca; and the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
Anak-anak Kus bernama Seba, Hawila, Sabta, Rama, dan Sabteka. Kedua anak Rama bernama Syeba dan Dedan.
8 And Cush was the father of Nimrod, who was the first of the great men of the earth.
Kus mempunyai seorang anak bernama Nimrod. Dialah orang pertama yang terkenal di dunia sebagai orang yang sangat tangguh dalam berperang.
9 He was a very great bowman, so that there is a saying, Like Nimrod, a very great bowman.
TUHAN memberkati Nimrod sehingga dia menjadi seorang pemburu yang perkasa. Itulah sebabnya orang-orang sering mengatakan, “Semoga anakmu menjadi seperti Nimrod, pemburu yang gagah perkasa karena berkat TUHAN.”
10 And at the first, his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
Nimrod menjadi raja dan memerintah di negeri Babel, yang juga disebut tanah Sinear. Ada empat wilayah penting dalam kerajaannya. Keempatnya mempunyai ibu kota sendiri, yaitu: Babel, Erek, Akad, dan Kalne.
11 From that land he went out into Assyria, building Nineveh with its wide streets and Calah,
Kemudian dia pergi ke tanah Asyur dan mendirikan kota Niniwe, Rehobot Ir, Kalah,
12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah, which is a very great town.
dan Resen. Resen merupakan kota terbesar di antara kota Niniwe dan kota Kalah.
13 And Mizraim was the father of the Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim;
Anak Ham yang kedua adalah Mesir. Dia menjadi nenek moyang dari orang-orang Lud, Anam, Lehab, Naftuh,
14 And Pathrusim and Casluhim and Caphtorim, from whom came the Philistines.
Patrus, Kaftor, dan Kasluh. Orang-orang Kasluh adalah nenek moyang bangsa Filistin.
15 And Canaan was the father of Zidon, who was his oldest son, and Heth,
Anak Ham yang bungsu adalah Kanaan. Kanaan memiliki dua anak bernama Sidon dan Het.
16 And the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite,
Kanaan adalah nenek moyang orang-orang Yebus, Amori, Girgasi,
17 And the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite,
Hewi, Arki, Sini,
18 And the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite; after that the families of the Canaanites went far and wide in all directions;
Arwadi, Semari, dan Hamat. Keturunan Kanaan tersebar luas.
19 Their country stretching from Zidon to Gaza, in the direction of Gerar; and to Lasha, in the direction of Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim.
Tanah yang menjadi milik mereka terbentang mulai dari kota Sidon di utara dan meluas hingga ke kota Gaza di selatan. Di wilayah timur, mereka menempati kota Gerar, kemudian meluas ke kota Sodom, Gomora, Adma, Zeboim, hingga ke kota Lasa.
20 All these, with their different families, languages, lands, and nations, are the offspring of Ham.
Semuanya itu adalah keturunan Ham. Mereka tinggal dalam wilayahnya masing-masing menurut suku, bangsa, dan bahasa mereka.
21 And Shem, the older brother of Japheth, the father of the children of Eber, had other sons in addition.
Sem, kakak Yafet, adalah nenek moyang Eber. Keturunan Eber menjadi bangsa Ibrani.
22 These are the sons of Shem: Elam and Asshur and Arpachshad and Lud and Aram.
Nama anak-anak Sem adalah Elam, Asyur, Arpaksad, Lud, dan Aram.
23 And the sons of Aram: Uz and Hul and Gether and Mash.
Nama anak-anak Aram adalah Us, Hul, Geter, dan Mas.
24 And Arpachshad became the father of Shelah; and Shelah became the father of Eber.
Anak Arpaksad bernama Selah. Anak Selah bernama Eber.
25 And Eber had two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, because in his time the peoples of the earth became separate; and his brother's name was Joktan.
Eber memiliki dua anak. Yang pertama bernama Peleg dan yang kedua bernama Yoktan. Arti nama Peleg adalah ‘terbagi’. Dia diberi nama demikian karena pada zamannya orang-orang di bumi terpisah-pisah dan tersebar ke seluruh bumi.
26 And Joktan was the father of Almodad and Sheleph and Hazarmaveth and Jerah
Yoktan adalah nenek moyang dari Almodad, Selef, Hazarmawet, Yerah,
27 And Hadoram and Uzal and Diklah
Hadoram, Uzal, Dikla,
28 And Obal and Abimael and Sheba
Obal, Abimael, Seba,
29 And Ophir and Havilah and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.
Opir, Hawila, dan Yobab. Itulah keturunan Yoktan.
30 And their country was from Mesha, in the direction of Sephar, the mountain of the east.
Daerah-daerah tempat tinggal mereka terbentang mulai dari Mesa dan meluas ke Sefar, daerah perbukitan di sebelah timur.
31 These, with their families and their languages and their lands and their nations, are the offspring of Shem.
Semua suku itu adalah keturunan Sem. Mereka hidup dan tinggal dalam wilayahnya masing-masing menurut suku, bangsa, dan bahasa mereka.
32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, in the order of their generations and their nations: from these came all the nations of the earth after the great flow of waters.
Itulah suku-suku keturunan anak-anak Nuh. Setiap suku memiliki daftar silsilahnya masing-masing. Sesudah peristiwa banjir berlalu, suku-suku bangsa tersebut tersebar luas di atas permukaan bumi.
